Well Konami would be shooting themselves in the foot if they did it.
Arcades would no longer have to pay Konami to use e-AMUSE if players could unlock stuff offline.
But at the same time, would cause, once again, backlash from players due to no offline unlock method and no e-AMUSE.

Problem is also, there's no marketing support at least in the U.S. for anyone to care about e-amuse to begin with.
Considering a bunch of the games in Japan are online, e-amuse is just another system over there. Over here though, only a couple games use internet support (Sega/Sammy have ALL.net which no one really uses anymore, VRGlobal have their own servers, Incredible Technologies (Golden Tee, Silver Strike Bowling) is one of the few companies whose games can be relatively successful online or offline). Very few venues even have the capabilities to do it to being with; without anyone selling e-amuse to them, why should they care?
Doesn't help that Betson gives crappy public support for most of their games (except maybe Raw Thrills titles), and Konami's marketing IMO has been lucky in that DDR practically sold itself in the home market. In the arcade market, no one cares unless they have ANY DDR (Extreme being the cheapest) and I think that's one big problem to start with.
Without a presence of newer DDR's gives another reason for players not to care about any DDR's newer than Extreme. And that's kinda sad considering I think DDR X is actually pretty decent and X2 is apparently shaping up to be pretty solid.

1. Make e-amuse mandatory for the next release. This may hurt sales, but honestly its going to be hurting the arcades more that don't buy it..
not in a million years. every other point is fair enough but starting with this one will probably make others stop reading the post here.
And sure the benefits of e-amuse were stated at once, but when I go onto Betson's website I am sure I won't find any info really on it. They probably dont even tell arcade operators about it, or ask if they want to run it on DDR.
My friend has a pretty good idea, but it may not work. Have users pay for e-amuse monthly/yearly. That is a great idea, but I am not sure if there is still enough of a fanbase to warrant such an idea. Not to mention how would they even begin setting something up like that?

How many arcades in the US actually have eamuse-ready machines? or even up to date mixes? There really aren't many arcades that are even capable of implementing eamuse. Go through the list of arcades and see how many arcades have anything higher than SN1.
Even if you make eamuse mandatory, that isn't going to make arcade owners going to want to buy the latest machines to use eamuse with. Theyre going to keep what they already have and know what makes money for them.
One of the only ways I can see eamuse coming about is to add it to other games that are more popular in the US. The odds of this happening are really not that high.

Anyone that bought an X Cabinet.
Anyway, In addition to the Local Mode thing. I understand there is money involved in development stages but if they could set something up like the pinpad systems on H2Overdrive, Fast & Furious etc and allow players to create a pin number for the machine, it could allow for an e-amuse feeling system. I know on H2Overdrive, the pinpad system allows players to unlock achievements, level up their boats, track score data, times, percentages, etc. In addition, it would be cool if players could export their data via the USB to upload onto an online server that Konami sets up. They could go about this by making it a subscription type service where players pay a set fee to use it (Much like the Cellphone service out in Japan).
I can't imagine it would be too hard to program the software to store player stats locally rather than speed them off through the network.

No, I get it. Its just that there is such limited options for American arcades for one reason or another, as well as costs for Konami. Starting something like this in a already extinct area of business will surely never work, unless something drastic changes the entire arcade scene and players start flocking into arcades.

Is there any way to get e-Amusement online? I don't really feel like going to Singapore just to secure a pass...

Depends on where the arcade is located and what version and region the machine is. Only X3 is supported and if you live outside Asia you will not be able to connect to the e-amusement network. Securing a card will do absolutely nothing for you ignore the oblivious person above this post.If the machine is American/European, you will never be able to connect the machine to e-amusement. Also if for some reason your arcade is in a supported region and is running X3, they need to contact Konami to setup and pay for the service. The arcade also needs a static IP as well.

Programmed World is an unofficial e-amuse server. And it's only reserved in the US. And input some other things that makes this whole issue a problem if the country can't get any access to an official e-amuse server.
