We knew this since the games been out. It purposely desyncs the game. Also nobody plays that game anymore, there's really no point anymore, when Respect V has all the exclusives from Portable 3 and then some, and the same gameplay. I haven't touched my copy in a very long time either as it lacked content and got boring really quickly and it takes too long to unlock the few songs it has. My recommendation for this game as of 2023 is to just play Respect V. Heck, Respect even has a portable 3 interface theme. So it makes this game redundant at this point.

Not to mention Respect V also has the 6.2T style in missions if you wanted to play that.

Exactly! So it kinda makes Portable 3 today useless.

Recommending Respect V to someone saying Portable 3 has anti-piracy measures is certainly an interesting series of posts. Desyncs are bad but at least Portable 3 works without an internet connection.

I don't even know why he's bumping a dead thread and bringing up an irrelevant game in 2023 to begin with when everyone's moved on to Respect V with the same gameplay, down to even the mission mode which has the exclusive remixing feature. Portable 3 is literally irrelevant at this point when you have a superior game with everything Portable 3 has and then some, like really? it shouldn't even be brought up.

Well, in a thread for Portable 3 I would think it’s relevant. I would install Respect V on my Steam Deck but, well, it needs a fucking internet connection. Why are people defending always online DRM? We bought the game. There should be literally zero strings attached to playing it.

always-online DRM is scummy bullshit and is also absolutely unnecessary for a rhythm game of all things. also just because respect v exists, that doesn't mean portable 3 is pointless or worth forgetting about. game's its own experience and still holds up well to this day. also has songs that AREN'T in respect v because licensing issues. mfers act like previous games in a series just magically don't exist anymore. sad.

people who cannot afford internet/people who live in poor connection areas still exist. just because everything is online-only doesn't mean everyone is able to jump in. also, defending everything being online-only is some horrific dystopian bullshit. imagine only having access to your purchases as long as one major corporation keeps their wires connected at all time.Post #30 · Posted at 2023-01-30 08:15:17pm 2.2 years ago
Sigrev, DJMAX is literally a niche series that 99% of the population has never even heard of, moreso than Bemani, and I guarantee people in poor connection areas have never even heard of DJMAX or want to play it out of curiosity. God man this is so dumb, you act like DJMAX is a AAA franchise and everyone is clambering for it
gimme a break lol.

Hi. My two cents: My internet at home is slow as shit. I also feel so much better having games and software that don't flat out require an internet connection for not just that reason, but many others.
Also requiring internet connections to play console games even if you don't want to play multiplayer or submit to leaderboards is encouraging travesties like this to happen.
Games that release with tons of bugs that can take months to fix, if they even do get fixed at all cough Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania.

In short, fuck this practice.

YES, always-online DRM sucks, but suggesting that people who actually want to play DJMAX won't have any internet at home is just a bit fuckin' silly to me. How would they buy the game in the first place? Cuz I don't think a modern PC/Steam game like Respect V sells hard copies. Even if your connection is slow as fuck, it doesn't mean you can't play it or it runs slower or anything. Come on.
I'm not a fan of it, but it's absolutely not the dealbreaker anyone might pretend it is. Super fucking weird everyone's now like "WHY ARE YOU DEFENDING THIS?!!!!" when the sentiment changes to "oh well, get over it" in the same community whenever I bring up similar accessibility problems and flatout bullshit with Konami rhythm games lmao

I literally never once said they wouldn’t have internet at home, I said that in a thread for a portable game you have to understand why something requiring internet would be a dealbreaker. That’s why I specifically mentioned the Steam Deck. You don’t think I want to sit and play on that at home when I have a 3070ti and a 1440p/165hz monitor do you? No, I like to play games on my break at work and I can’t play Respect V there. Also I pretty actively shit on Konami and Grand Prix as well so I’m not sure what you were going for there.I'm not a fan of it, but it's absolutely not the dealbreaker anyone might pretend it is. No, I like to play games on my break at work and I can’t play Respect V there.
I've always had wi-fi at my workplaces so I guess I can't relate. But in that instance I'd play another game for the 45 minutes or so I had. I play a lot of games and so do most people who play games and having to wait to get home to play a specific is generally a non-issue.
IDK, someone massively bumped a thread for zero reason, someone went "the newest game has all the content from this old version so just play that" which is totally valid but because they're one of those users who's considered an acceptable target some people got mad at him? The game is no longer legally available and pirating it is apparantly tricky, so... yeah, just get the new version. It comes with caveats, but that's the closest thing you have and that's life sometimes.

All PSP DJMAX games after Portable 1 have anti-piracy that renders the game pretty unplayable if you bootleg it.
