I'm gonna tell you how to spice it up. First, you season it with a good cajun dry rub, 'cause I don't know about you, but where I get my DDR, it doesn't come seasoned. Then we're gonna put it in a medium saucepan with some salt, pepper, a few bay leaves, and lots of gahlic. As the gahlic starts to brown, I'm gonna add to it some shrimp stock and some lemon juice...aww yeah, babe. You can just smell the love in this kitchen.
Then we're gonna take a little essence and bam! Bam! BAM!!

So, nobody likes my lonely versus idea? Come on, I've seen everything else mentioned here done plenty of times, but I haven't seen other people playing lonely versus. Isn't spicing it up supposed to mean doing something original or uncommon?
PS: I would have expected Daiz to post something more uncommon than "I set goals to achieve scores.".

After reading this thread again, my friends and I tried something the next time we played. We had what we called suicide score challenges. For a set of songs, we had to ignore either all freeze arrows or all jumps. Freeze is better. If we didn't fail the song, we compare scores to see who had the highest.
Repeat songs not allowed.
Also, one final rule is that if you slip up and hit a freeze/jump, you must wait 8 beats to start stepping again (which may fail you and disqualify you from the round).
More fun than it sounds like. =3

I do occasionally try to get the lowest score on a song that I can while still passing it. Basically Good attacking. It's not as easy as its sounds, especially on a super streamy song. Right now, though, I've been trying to play as many doubles songs as possible. New songs I discovered I really enjoy are Lamour et la Liberte, Hyper Eurobeat, and My Shining Star.
There's also doing Standard Shuffle Reverse without double stepping. Pretty much if you don't spin the way the steps have you to, you fail. This works better with with a friend, obviously.

By being creative. DOn't stuck to certain songs. Make your own achievements like those in mission mode.
For example... (this is, in fact, done once). I tried to play DDR while listening to a different songs, also I've tried to play with more than 50 good, etc..
But most of all... You have to love playing DDR.

loooooool I tried that the once

Being a partly visual player I found this challenge rather easy, but scoring well is much harder.
To bump up the challenge, just listen to your mp3 player while playing an Oni course..
how about passing a song with:
30 greats
20 goods
10 almosts?

I've tried it while I was playing World tour. I'm listening to a relaxation mp3. I tried using one earphone and I found it not chalenging. So, I tried using both earphone with almost maximum voice and I ended up failed on Gamelan de Couple.

Did you know that on DDRMAX, with normal life difficulty (4/NORMAL) set in options, you can actually clear Healing Vision (Angelic Mix)

This reminds of a thing I used to do with DDR EXTREME when it was the ubermost mix, I made something I call "The Evil Game." Here's how it worked:
On a set of index cards (about 50 of them), I would make two columns, and label them 1-6. In the first column, I'd list some fairly-similar songs (really slow ones, mid-tempo ones, boss ones w/

You shuffle the cards, and deal up the first three of them; then you roll a pair of dice. Say I got a 2 and a 5; I could choose between "Song #2 with Mods #5" and "Song #5 with Mods #2." (There were a couple sets of the

You can make a couple of them have

(For Extra stage, I just picked between the two songs... since Extreme didn't let you adjust modifiers for it.)

One idea I just had is mod frenzy. Basically, you flip a coin to see who chooses a mod first. The person who does not choose a mod chooses the song. For the next song, the other person chooses a new mod, while the other person chooses the song. You repeat this until everything has a mod. Once everything has a mod, you can start removing/changing different mods on each turn. You cannot choose a song the previous person chose nor can you choose a mod the previous person chose. This will ensure fun times, I promise!
