DDR X is also housed in an electrifying NEW cabinet with a 37" LCD monitor, LED lighting effects and a thundering sound system to enhance play. Look for a new Shock Arrow and upgraded graphics.
The game is e-Amusement ready, player cards will allow on-line ranking and data collection with Internet connection. There is also a Step Chart Edit Mode where players can edit game step charts on their home PCs and bring the data back to the arcade via SD Memory Card.

Not sure how many people confuse Pump It Up with DDR in other places when the words "PUMP IT UP" are clearly on the machine, but the guide for my college always calls the machine inside the game room DDR.
...which would have been true 3 years ago when there was a SuperNOVA machine inside but it is instead a PIU cab.
One of these days, I'm just going to yell at the new students on the tour.

If it's the American version, in 2000 or 2001.
I think Dancing Stage (AC)/Dancing Stage 1.5 (AC) was out in 1999 at least. Holy crap, we got something before America? One of the best descriptions of DDR that I've read recently must have been the preview of Hottest Party in Official Nintendo Magazine, basically aside from translating some words into British English it was a complete copy/paste of the article which was in Nintendo Power (that's America's official Nintendo magazine, right?). I think they even called it Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party, talk about not even knowing the games' localisation history.
If I remember rightly an old Playstation Magazine I had once gave Dancing Stage MegaMIX a 9/10, silver. I lol'ed.

That's the year DDR looks like it was released in. Sega Genesis graphics, yo!

CNET needs to get their facts straight. If this is the Japanese version, it came out in 1998. If it's the American version, in 2000 or 2001.

North America and Europe got DDR in the spring of 1999, Europe got the updated version with IR and Uh La La La etc. later that same year.

OXM's preview of UNI2. A paragraph of "Yeah, only Chinese guys and chavs play this because everyone normal is sucking Guitar Hero's cock.Quote

I think that was Party Edition. The norm seems to be 7/10 for pretty much everything, but 9/10 for Party, 6/10 for Fever and 6/10 for Fusion (PSM2 gave is 69%, JUST off a Bronze award, then went on to call it 'disappointing, you won't be hooked for long because every song is 140BPM Japanese techno'').Also, OXM's mini-review for Beat n'Groovy got a 4/10 with the words "Bemani, with terrible music." Which conveniently sidesteps what actually makes the game suck and appears to take off points for just being Bemani. CURSE THOSE GUITAR HERO RIPOFFS!

AAAHAHAHA. Setting the high score in DDR. I doubt anyone who's going to D&B's for any reason other than the sole purpose of playing DDR will be setting a high score. Especially after a margarita.

At Dave & Busters, your inner game fiend will come out the moment you walk through the door and make a mad dash for the skee ball lanes. The beauty of D&B is magnified by the fact you can also enjoy a few drinks while doing it. Ease your nerves before setting the high score on DDR by slurping down one of D&B's many cutesy concoctions like the Million Dollar Margarita or the Pink Monkey Freeze. Dave & Buster's offers an extensive menu for lunch and dinner as well.

New rule: You must have imbibed at least one full drink 15 minutes prior to playing DDR at that location.Quote: website

I would totally be spending arcade time there doing that if there was one near me.
