Arcade is so much harder than CS for some reason... I don't blame you.
The reason is smaller timing windows. Not a lot smaller, but very skilled players will notice the difference in their great counts if they use good enough pads to play CS.Post #22 · Posted at 2009-01-15 02:27:40pm 16.4 years ago

the timing windows are part of it. some of it is most people play on a soft pad of some kind, so they arent used to the recessed arrows on the machines.
anyway, when i was learning to play doubles i tried true trance sunrise mix and when it gets to the galloping part thats in singles, its a crossover stream. during that stream i went to crossover to the P1 left from some other arrow(cant remember) and because i was already starting to step when i missed the P1 left(going off the pad) i ended up falling flat on my face because both my feet were on nothing. yes, there was a crowd, no, no one tried to help me up.

Yeah, I kind of think it's going from a soft pad to a hard pad. Squishy pad does not equal metal

I decided to play Oni mode the other day for whatever reason, and I failed about 8 measures into Rainbow Rainbow because I can't read 1x for shit anymore.

I failed Exotic Etnic
at the last step (freeze step), because the pad was broken. While, I've passed it many times before on other machine.

the time I felt the most embarrassed was (after I got kicked out of European Championships in DDR) when I saw the girls in the finals fail every ten they played....Max300 SMMM but even Xepher Challenge!!!!!!! I just felt really badly and embarrassed, because I could clear almost any ten on the game except
But because my opponents were more accurate and being able to finish a song because of me clearing it I lost in the tournament. I lost to 3 girls who couldn't clear tens no bar!!! I never felt worse ... than this regarding embarrassment.
EDIT: ok um this story is not about me failing a song, but actually LOSING MY ROUND because of CLEARING IT! that's worse than failing it.-_-
The other really embarrassing moment was when I picked up Orion78 as my first song and there was a bit of snow on the platform....well of course I almost killed myself in mid play and I failed....everyone thought I suck a first. but later that day they also realized I'm the best player in the area and some guys got really offended by me being better. It did not feel good either. I wish no one watched me play that day...-_- they even learned songs like Afronova, Dead End etc by heart so they could compete me. But failed at it...
also failed Hard2 on last arrow because of the platform breaking my freeze...but well that happens.

I've done that. I even set the course (Naoki standard, EX AC) to the easier difficulty, so that I'd have a better chance, and failed.Post #28 · Posted at 2009-01-16 12:53:32am 16.4 years ago

They make AC harder so more people fail. You don't have to be a pro to notice how much slower your skill bar crawls up to maximum on a cab than a cs.
Off topic, but why do people play 1.5 or higher? It's so weird to me. I can play up to 3x on DDR, 5x on GFDM, but I ALWAYS play 1x, and if I'm tired I'll set it to Noteskin.
Siabot reminded me of my first doubles play. I still wonder how I tripped over the back bar...

When I was huge Graduation-spamming noob, back when I first tried Dance Dane Revolution, I was so sure I ready for
since I had finally passed Graduation
. So I moved up on to Light and selected random and I got bag. Didn't go too well.

Spoiler: There is no maximum
Try a 10 for the first time on doubles and failing. Max 300 was it's name, and the last step was the game, and I lost the game.
I have it on video too. But I might have deleted it regrettably. But I am gonna check. If I still have it, I'm uploadin' to YouTube.

Oh, the life meter.
Whoops. Sorry, I never heard people refer it as a skill bar.

When I first started going to the arcade I was just moving into playing heavy songs so this one time I had a crowd and wanted to show off a little so I picked Maxx Unlimited
...halfway through the song the whole machine shut down and just read "ERROR" across the screen...talk about an epic fail...

The life bar recovery and damage is dependent on what stage you are on. The timing window of AC is also tighter than on CS. (EDIT: Oh, that's been said 5 times already)Quote: RTCB

Everybody plays with speed modifiers to the point where very few people can actually play the songs on their original difficulty.
I was also saying that I CAN play on speed mods, but that I prefer not to, and when I'm tired from playing DDR I set the arrow skin to "note" so I can read the timing more easily.

Oh because you said "noteskin" which kinda covers all of them.
And I usually play 3x and can still pass Dancemania Oni on extreme...I know plenty of people who can.

I failed the first stage on beginner once, even though its not possible.
Nah but I think I failed some 9 on the second stage cause the pad was broken, I don't really pay attention to the first 4 stages

EuroMix2's hardest course (HARD 2) is Trip Machine Climax - exotic ethnic - AFRONOVA PRIMEVAL - TSUGARU - MAX 300.
Roughly five times, I've failed on the ending freeze of M300.
