So, does that mean DDR X should be released in the US around that time as well?
I would say sometime before that time, OR Konami can screw with us by releasing DDR X in EU first, THEN they release it to "US" next
On another note: Well tomorrow is the first ATEI 2009 day, let's hope for some pics and vids guys

not sure if we can take some pics or videos at ATEI because of the photos only for press and vids strictly forbidden.

Tuesday Music Game Update:
DDR X - Old version, nothing new to report. US software version. Low volume and LAGGY.
UBeat - Old version, nothing new to report. Same software version as UK location test four months ago.
GH:AC - GH:WT controllers, uses XP and USB. Laggy and controller problems, probably a USB problem. At least four of these machines.
DJ MAX TECHNIKA - x2 machines. Awesome.
PIU:NXA - Charged at the beginning but went free play after. Trocadero has bought one.
PIU:NX2 - At JNC Sales stand. Not in very good condition, not that popular.

Why am I not surprised lol. The least they could do is update the lag fix from the final version...ugh.

The sidebar lights on the DDR X machine appear to be non-existent.
I hope that doesn't mean anything along the lines of "the lights were getting to be too expensive so we're not putting those on the new cabinets anymore".

I would be actually happy if the lights weren't there. what I don't get is that there was supposed to be a light under the screen...(more like light dots passing by) but they were inexistent as well. 2 cabinet types (with the light system and one without would be good)
But that's just my preference.
DDRX was fine after you found out that the lag is huge and that you had to play really early. but concentrating on that all the time was nearly impossible for me. Saber Wing is nice
. Probably won't forget this song as I managed to pass at at 3x.

I can only speak for the UK/Europe release here...
At ATEI, I spoke to James Anderson who told me that in Europe the cabs will be made with parts sourced from the US (as you rightly surmise to cut down costs), and the only thing that has come from Konami of Japan is the software itself. Thus it is *extremely* unlikely (but not impossible) that it will have the standalone lights.
It would make sense for the US release to follow suit (otherwise why would we be buying the parts from the US? Surely there must be economies of scale if both regions pair together for parts).
More annoyingly to me, there is not currently an upgrade kit for older cabs (unlike the JP release) - the official statement was "we'll look into the possibility" which means "it's not currently planned" when you read between the lines. That's a sale that Konami has lost, as I am not interested in buying the cabinet.
The other thing is that Konami have stopped pimping eAmusement in the UK - there was no advert for it this year at ATEI (unlike the last 2 years). I enquired as to pricing and didn't get a very satisfactory answer, either.

Considering the number of old cabs this country has, that is a particularly bad move not to have CVT kits.

In the UK, Electrocoin will allow part exchanges, from what I have heard (no idea how much they will give for an old cab), but I was told specifically that they will NOT part-x DDR cabs, only Dancing Stage. There's shedloads of old Dancing Stage/DDR cabs sitting in resellers warehouses, mostly mothballing.
To be fair, the new cab is much less expensive than DS Fusion or Supernova were (they were about £10K, this new one is *estimated* to be $10K =£6,850).
