My IP changes every time I get online with the setup I have, so getting me with this law is next to imposable.
Your ISP tracks that data and can give the account that had an IP at any given time on request.
You have no privacy.
You have no protection.
You can be locked up for any reason.
Your only hope is that you aren't the one picked out of the millions.
This is true pretty much everywhere.

It's a major wipeout to me then. There's stepmania, basically all the songs on my pc (mostly through limewire) and some other songs i ripped from videos (limewire doesn't have it, and I'm not risking myself with those "woman gets shaking ****** after ***").
I know I'm safe, but it will be the bittorrent cease and desist order which will trace me if I'm not careful.

Ever since that moron Bush entered office, he has done nothing to benefit the lower and middle class. All the s*** he's done was to benefit his rich friends and corporations. If McCain is elected, more than likely I'm packing my bags for Canada. At least they have free health care (correct me if I'm wrong).
are you serious? if obama is elected the country will be defenseless, seeing as how he pretty much opposes the US military. then again, i guess it doesnt effect you so you dont give a shit. if obama becomes my new commander in chief(AKA my new boss) i definitely wont re-enlist. bush may not have been the smartest guy, but atleast he knows how to take care of the people under his command, and mccain is also pro military. self interest FTW.

I don't know, some people (outside this forum) say it protects you on a little to nothing basis, and that the way to be protected is by tweaking the settings which will definitely be different for file-sharing programs (limewire, frostwire, etc.) and bittorrent clients (azureus, bitlord, etc.).
And for bit-torrent, the thing that traces you is called "BayTSP." Searches certain aniplex anime torrents as far as I know right now.

Back on subject, I don't see how this act will ever work; I don't see how they could seize that many computers. Besides, I bet a whole lot of people would protest.

Come on, try not to go into one of these. He's just stating his opinion, try not to flame because someone doesn't agree with you. Politics and whether or not someone opposes war or not are very controversial subjects, and that's the kind of thing that can get people riled up. Not trying to be rude, just try to let that topic die.

he started it

also, i didnt say a thing about the war. i said the military. most people who oppose the war still support the troops, obama does not.

If they would have start taking away the computer and portable devices with illegal Mp3s, I would bet it will take them forever since I would guess about 90% of the America population's PC and portable devices have illegal Mp3s, along with other software, would have been seized...
And then there is a privacy law on personal information, you can actually sue government for breaking the law...
Anyway, just my opinion...

I propose that the first computers we search for illegal mp3s be the computers that the congressmen who voted for this act (along with their children's computers) use.

Not trying to defend him, but this point kind of needs to be said...
For the bill to have gotten to him, it had to have been passed by Congress first, which is Democrat-controlled.
This is not an opinion, this is fact. If you want my opinion, here you go.
"Bullshit."
