Honestly you should probably get Gold first, and I'm not saying that it's better than DistorteD, because I haven't made up my mind yet.
I asked the same question when I decided to start importing games, and my friend said to get the most recent CS version, which is of course Gold. If you like it enough, then you can go ahead and get DistorteD, because you'll be sure to enjoy it.
Each game is good in its own respect, and if you like IIDX you'll be glad to have the luxury of more than one game to play around with. =]

alright, I took the time and read all of your comments, and I have to say that, I will now get Gold, since it's the newest one. I know I know, but what I read it sounds like it has a new way of unlocking the songs, and I'm always up for a challenge, and Ghostbusters is in it, so why not, you know?
