Emi and Rage look so damn good. Makes me hopeful they'll finally update the dancer models (or maybe they'll get back to give them as much importance as they used to have in game?)
I'm not vibin with the logo though. At first I thought it was a fanmade one, I wonder why they got rid of the old Serpetine font?

My personal wishlist for World:
- A worldwide release. As others have said, the title is the perfect opportunity for it.
- A new announcer or better voice direction. The current announcer doesn't have a bad voice, but the lines and direction provided are a substantial downgrade from pre-X releases. Too many lines are actively grating, and not in an endearing corny way.
- A song selection UI overhaul. The A3 UI is O.K., but it feels very much focused on style over usability. I would love a return to the old songwheel or a system with similar emphasis on information density and usability.
- Lowers charts that follow the same charting rules as uppers charts. New Beginner, Basic, and Difficult charts should make the same effort as Expert-Challenge charts to avoid random doublesteps.
- 20th note quantization and more quantization/sync fixes. 20ths are the new 12ths and should be supported and retrofitted onto older charts. More emphasis on perfect sync would also reduce player frustration.
- Better explanation of EX Score in the UI, like showing the max EX Score or a % of total next to the number.
- Adjusting the shock arrow window. Removing the early window, shortening the late window, and requiring being pressed for 1-2 frames before registering would make the mechanic work as intended for shock charts that want center-steps.
- More granular control over scroll speed multipliers
- Option for quantization-colored freeze arrow heads for readability.
Most of these are QoL changes since I still think the core formula of DDR is fine, but some player-friendly adjustments would go a long way to improve game feel and encourage positive word of mouth.

Massive support for modifying shock arrow windows. They feel huge and they're a nightmare on poorly maintained pads. They should just axe announcers all together. None of the other Bemani games have them that I'm aware of and I don't miss the lack of in-game announcer in StepManiaX at all.

They should bring back the option to choose your dancer.

Yeah I feel like that’s somewhat of a hot take. I know the X announcer seems to be the least liked one among the community (I don’t mind him personally but I much prefer the Max announcer) but I like the encouragement while I’ve got a long combo going. And the other Bemani games do have announcers, just not during gameplay like in DDR, Gitadora, SDVX and Pop’N come to mind in that department. Now with all that being said, perhaps Konami should add an option to disable the announcer for those that choose, but I think scrapping the announcer outright would be a bad decision

Yup. I've seen people in X mention Pepsi in regards to the logo.

This. I don't care if characters are there just for aesthetic purposes. I don't like the idea of having character selection exclusive to eamusement since X2.

I'm thinking that Dance Dance Revolution World will be available in Europe. First, on December 20, 2023, there was an announcement of a "new" DDR A20 Plus due in February 2024:
https://x.com/InterGameFun/status/1737473356583129590
Then, on April 19, 2024, the Financial Times mentioned: "The newest version, the A20 Plus, […] is installed […] ahead of its official launch next month."
https://www.ft.com/content/b4f04f51-45e1-4c14-ad72-f944f9762a3c
https://x.com/Electrocoin/status/1782390179359056278
Why do these articles list A20 Plus, and not A3 or World? I suspect this is because Konami didn't want to announce World until now. Should Electrocoin indeed distribute DDR World in Europe, then this would be similar to how North America got DDR A in 2016, despite a DDR location test for the 2014 version in mid-2015.
–––––
As for the announcement, personally, I find it… so-so. The e-Amusement Passes look okay, but only 2,000 will be made in Japan: 1,000 for Emi, 1,000 for Rage. Also, I prefer the costumes from older games: 5thMix, both SuperNOVA games, DDR X, and (mostly kept in newer games) X2. As with others here, I'd like to see a character selection screen, with many costumes per character.
I'm also a little disappointed that DDR A4 is being skipped. There won't be an Ace of Spades.
At least Konami tweeted about it in English. That makes me more hopeful that DDR World will receive a wider release.
–––––
It would be nice if Dance Dance Revolution World could run both online and offline, and with fewer limitations than the A series when offline. For example, allow DARK and the GUIDELINE to be turned OFF. Allow Darker or Darkest without e-Amusement. Allow speed modifiers with the x0.25 increments to be selected, including those below x1. These basic options should not require e-Amusement.
Online support for DDR A3 ended on April 30, 2024 for CRT-based cabinets. Konami is selling DDR A3 offline kits for these machines. However, they have about 272 fewer songs than online machines, and per the previous paragraph, many options are unavailable.
Since DDR A3 was not released in Europe, Canada, and many other nations, Konami would do well to release DDR World there.
–––––
Overall, despite the limited information, I'm looking forward to DDR World. I hope it's a global release with a good song list, character selection screen, GUI improvements, better DJ/announcer options, and good functionality for both online and offline play.

japan doesn't mind the announcers as much as us westerners do believe it or not (i'm actually p sure they like them tbh), so it's highly probable they won't switch them out anytime soon, remember, DDR now is still mostly Japanese-centric and Konami has gotten increasingly xenophobic this past year so
i do think expect graphical changes though because they literally just phased out SD cabs permanently 💀 so hoping DDR won't look like a PS2 game anymore in 2024
also hoping they'll keep the song direction of A20 and beyond though, as well as the consistency of song updates
and I hope they'll have a more consistently amazing chart direction, i honestly think A3 dipped solely for having some really disgusting charts (such as many of the GL/20th Anniversary license charts) even with really amazing charts like the challenge chart for Hopeful

One other thing I guess would be anther wish for World would be if they were to revise some older DDR songs and either remake challenge charts, or create new ones for some songs. I sometimes wonder how well received that would be; like if they redid the challenge chart for Kakumei to make it a 15, or if they could create challenge charts for old favorites like INSERTiON, era(nostalmix), DROP OUT to also a 15 or more challenge chart. I say 15 because that may be a reasonable rating without making them "silly" like the X-Special charts of X (imo).
I dunno, it's just so many great songs from back in the day that could have life breathed back into them in some way. Just a thought.
