Cancelled Encisso's DanceStages and Characters

This project was great for the time it was up. I guess it wasn't just meant to be for now. This whole project felt too ahead of its time, and I'm not saying that to sound disrespectful I enjoyed what Enciso had to offer, and I hope for the best for him. Same with razorblade even though I kind've also acted critical against him sorry for that, this won't excuse anything but, I guess I just felt salty over this whole thing.

My favorite things about this project were that it really was a stand up from the character system SM 3.9 used and even DancerVideos/Random Movies.

I enjoyed being able to see some rare versions of the current AC characters like Dance Wars alternatives and characters with additional accessories, and even though it's separate from the project I enjoyed the classic characters addition by ScrapRabbit and how it brought old versions of characters (even ones that weren't rigged for SM 3.9) into a more modern DDR experience.

My favorite stage to use was the default setting unless a song didn't have a stage assigned or if a song had a music video in which I used a stage that matched the overall mood of the song, and I really liked (X2) Cyber.

Now if you all excuse me this whole situation felt really sad. I'm probably going to take a break from both the DDR and Stepmania community. Don't know how long or if I might come back, but this amount of toxicity is starting to get to me, it's best if I leave now than engage in it more.

While I agree that what razorblade did, as well as his lack of remorse toward his actions, is wrong, I also feel that Enciso's decision to stop the project altogether and deleting everything that did exist for it is a bit harsh. I could understand doing so if it was a serial offense. But it only happened once. I'm not trying to convince Enciso to change his mind about whatever his future plans for this project were, but I do feel that a download link for what did exist should be posted for archival purposes only.

While I would totally love to see this project continue and I do agree with you that I wish we could still continue this project with her dear friends that I’ve worked hard we have to respect his decision. Whether we agree with it or not I understand why he did what he did. I do hope that he finds it in his future to renew the project and continue on though.

Google cache isn't very helpful on the original ZIV thread. I can't tell if there was a release after Jan 23. If there was and someone has any updated files, post or PM them and I'll --author Enciso0720 on the diff. Losing the commit from the git history sucks, but it's not required.

The project was licensed GPL3. License file is included, and was added by Enciso0720 in the first commit.

I have an intense distaste for the vast drama surrounding this, and won't comment on it further. But because the project was licensed under GPL3, it - and therefore my copy - can be freely shared, forked, and modified under those terms. My only response would be to encourage people to read the terms of the project's LICENSE file.

As a community we have agreed for years not to distribute work the author doesn’t want distributed, not to release modified versions of someone’s work without permission, and not to sell/make money off of someone’s work when they wish for it to be free. BuT tHe LiCeNsE shut the fuck up and edit your post to remove the links dude. If you won’t then can we get a mod in here to take care of the new user who clearly wants no part of actually being in this community?

Licenses are how authors choose to declare acceptable usage of their distributed works. They are not added by default, and must be proactively chosen and added to a project.

In view of all the messages we have received for the decision made yesterday, regarding the removal of all content for non-compliance with the rules given from the beginning:

This project does NOT intend to use SM Arcades in public places, nor replace the use of KONAMI Official Arcades in public places; it is only intended for home use.

• We understand it is difficult to control the use that each one of you gives it, but we just want to do things right and continue to share with you something that has never been seen in this way before. Just step the rules.

• I want to apologize to all those who were involved in a series of heavy messages, as well as those who may have been offended by them. Also, for the decision taken abruptly to eliminate the content of the project.

Hello Encisso, the community is here to support you, keep your project going, don't stop, you revolutionized Stepmania, I was finally able to play custom songs, original Stepmania songs, Starlight and DDRMAX 3 with my favorite characters.

I'm glad you came back and gave us a very positive response, take as long as you want to finish your project, I'm very happy with the BGA Stage.
