Why is there no proper emulator for BEMANI AC games?

Emulation of 20 year old games that aren't being sold anymore is piracy in the loosest sense of the word. This is still a stupid thread, but I will die on the hill that anybody going full Nintendo and saying "tsk tsk piracy" is equally stupid.

Friends. You must know one thing, and that is that there are lots and lots of games that only made it to the arcades and they never had a port to home consoles.

Getting one of those arcade machines means looking for life and sometimes those machines cost extremely expensive.

So many people who want to play those games again, prefer to do it through emulation. Because these types of games are already considered Abandonware and even more so than today, these games are out of fashion thanks to consoles.

So the only way to preserve these games is through emulation. I do not care if it is piracy or not, I prefer to play those games in emulator than risk going abroad to look for an arcade machine for that game that I want, only to realize that it is damaged, they have a lot of problems, needs maintenance and some controls do not work.

We understand what you’re saying but I honestly don’t know how else to convey what we’re saying. I’ll do this one last time.

1) We know some of these games did not get a home port.
2) We know these games exist. It’s not like we’re not fans of these games as well.
3) We know getting the real game is hard but it’s the only way you can play some of them right now.
4) No one (especially here) is going to make an emulator for those very specific niche games. All you can do is hope that MAME supports them eventually or pitch the idea to people who are actually capable of doing this.

Please stop creating threads asking people to preserve old IIDX or pop’n charts/games. There are other people who most likely have the same desires you have and there are other places you can go. There are other simulators and communities behind them that probably have people working on what you’re asking for in some way.

We get it. You want these things. Continuing to ask for them from us won’t do a thing. Thank you.

There, yes. You can not publish BMS and PMS simfiles that are from the official IIDX and pop'n games because it is piracy. But they do allow DDR similes to be published. What irony.

What are you talking about? Do not compare emulating a literal arcade machine with simply creating Simfiles for StepMania. The analogy is faulty there as the latter you still need to transcribe the chart first whereas the former you just emulate it.

Maybe instead of picking whatever post you can argue, try to read everyone's post here. Most of us have been giving you a sound advices. Thank you.

Publishing an official BMS or PMS file isn't really considered piracy as far as the rhythm community is concerned, otherwise Konami would've dealt with this a long time ago. Playing them publicly, however, is highly frowned upon in the BMS community and there are recent BMS players like bemuse that downright have a blacklist of official IIDX songs, preventing them from being played.

The problem here is that you're asking for a straight-up emulation of BEMANI AC games, which unless you have very close ties to Konami, is practically impossible at this point.
