I'm calling that bullshit all round. It's hard to believe DDR II sold that few copies over seven days.
I really hope it's just game only; there's no evidence that they're including two different SKUs in this.

The chart says on the side "In Millions". Its 784 Million copies......I think.
Just check the sales figures for a more popular game. Like Just Dance. When something has sold in the millions, the sales graph is marked accordingly. If this HAD sold 784 million copies somehow - through some sort of awful black magic I can't even begin to fathom I guess - the graph would say 784M, and the sales history chart would say 784,000,000. So, 784 means just that. 784 copies. Whether it's actually a correct figure or not, I guess, is up for debate, but regardless it's obvious that's the figure they intended us to glean from that graph.

So, let's say this really did sell a paltry 784 copies in its first week. DDR2010, meanwhile, apparently sold a little over 20,000 copies on the Wii in its first week. Even considering all the things this has going against it sales-wise that everyone has already mentioned, that's an astonishingly steep drop. I guess, despite the fact that it's such a nice release, it's still too little too late after YEARS of mismanagement. I mean, I personally only happened into learning about how cool and arcadey this game's songlist was by pure chance. I'm sure there are plenty more people who just completely gave up on keeping track of new DDR releases after the crap we got the last couple years. And, of course, the casual crowd has pretty much completely moved on to things like Just Dance.

I'm trying to reserve my judgement on Just Dance until, by some unfortunate set of circumstances, I'm actually forced to play it. But right now, it seems to me like it's kind of pointless. I actually like DDR for its arcade-like rigidity. If I wanted to just dance in a more normal fashion, I'd just put on a CD and....just dance, instead of dropping money on Just Dance.

C'mon, this game has glowing praise in the ZiV community!... And not one professional review Sad
No publicity, at all. I haven't seen any material for this game anywhere, not Gamefaqs, not any late night TV ads, not even in a gaming magazine (although to be honest I haven't checked out a magazine for a few months.) The marketing (or lack of it) may have caused weak sales numbers, but less than 800? Like jun would sing, Unbelievable.

By a show of hands, who did buy this game? *Raises hand*

BTW, I understand the whole Just Dance reservations that some people have. I didn't really "get" the magic of the game until last year, when there was JD at a party. It's not about the normal fashion of the game, (it's actually embarrassing to be honest), but it's the environment you play it in. It's just a fun game to play with a bunch of people while leaving your dignity at the door.
I just came to say hello.

Not believing anything until it's officially announced by the company.

/story.

If so then people are missing out, granted what would have drawn even more numbers would be the people who whine that this isn't in a PS3/360 version, but even so i would expect sale numbers of the game to be up within one month of the game's release which would be in about two weeks time before we may see something FACTUAL than what we are seeing here.

And if this is true, then the ZIv population is the only group that bought this game, with only about 50 from the Facebook DDR page :v

HAHAHAHAHA, VGChartz! Laughing Hard

Wanna see a neat trick? Go to the discussion page for the Video Game Wikiproject on Wikipedia and say "VGChartz". You can -hear- people frothing at the mouth. Needless to say, I'm shocked LulzSec or another Anon group hasn't taken them out yet.

This made my whole day.

The only reason it would suck if this game tanks is how the company views the future of the franchise. Personally, I'm just happy to have the content they included on it. Pretty much the best Wii DDR game.

One thing that might hurt the sale of this game is how abundant used copies of older Hottest Party titles are now.

On a serious note, Konami needs to understand that if they don't make sales predictions for this game it's their own fault. They also need to understand that it doesn't mean it's time to rethink things again, rather it means they need to stick to their guns and forge ahead. Lie it or not, they must travel the long road of re-earning player's trust.

DDR II is a great game, no matter how it fairs on the market. I bought DDR II because Konami gave a damn again.

DDR III needs to be just as good if not better, or else they'll be back to square one. If they respond with cutbacks over lackluster sales as a result of the broken promises made back in DDR then they've created a vicious cycle with which there is no escape.

The fate of the franchise was decided when DDRX was released to arcades in the states.

To imagine that GameWorks Indianapolis was the place where the end began.

But, maybe optimistically speaking, wouldn't the arcade failure of X/X2 in America lead players to be like "#$!^ this I'm playing at home from now on," therefore actually making a good fate for console DDR...?

The sort-of problem with DDR III is... we haven't seen anything out of X3 yet. Well over half of DDR II's songs were from the amazing song list of DDR X2, and without knowing anything about X3, what the heck can we expect out of DDRIII?

... well, it's definitely too soon to answer that... in other words, we need more X3 news. >_> And real stats for DDR II.

One other factor that can screw over CS DDR is by the next release, everyone and their mother will need a new mat or converter, especially if the new Wii will no longer have GC ports.

I bought the game only, was the mat included with the DDR II bundle GC or USB?

GC.

And adding DDR 2010 KOs with DDR II NEW KOs, we got 1/6th of DDR X3 new songs. Heck, UNBELIEVABLE and London EVOLVED might be DDR X4 boss songs. Maybe.

Unbelievable is okay.

I tried London EVOLVED and less than 30 seconds in I got bullshit 400 BPM or something on my 2.0x speed mod so I never touched the song again.

Are all the versions of London EVOLVED the same BPM bullshit?

Only one of the versions goes to above 400 BPM, the rest are max 320 BPM (iirc)

mm maybe I just wasn't reading. I would never do 2x speed mod on a song which says -320bpm. Maybe it was 1.5.

anyway I thought the BPM change was dumb so I played other songs.

You can, just like you can play DDR on Beginner just moving one leg every now and then, but it won't give you high scores. I've found that Just Dance scores you the more you get into the song and actually reflect the full-body movements. One movement in Firework that I could previously never Perfect I could when I moved my hips as well like what the character does even though there isn't a sensor there.

Whichever way you spin it Just Dance is way more like real dancing. DDR is more about timing and rhythm.

I know exactly which one you're talking about. Thank you for bringing that up as it helps illustrate the point that mastering Just Dance is much more than just shaking the controller wildly.

It's not so much that they're bad songs would be why I'd be disappointed.
It's just that they'd be really old news by that time.

The song is actually nice and creative. In one of the versions, the super slow down Freeze arrows was something I've never seen before, for example. Tag did a great job on this one, musically, and and I would not complain if he took Naoki's place.

New York EVOLVED is just so hard, on the other hand. I would rate it a 16.

Where's your source for this? X3 has hardly had ANYTHING revealed. For all we know everything on DDR II could be on X3.

London EVOLVED will follow suit with L.A. EVOLVED and New York EVOLVED; Japan will never see it. I can't see UNBELIEVABLE as anything but X3's non-RDA Extra Stage.

Hi guys in EU,
DDR hottest party 5 will be coming soon.It has 5 languages version for EU.
Our development had completed already.
But This one is only for Wii that has gamecube port.Copies of it might be very limited.I strongly recommend pre-order if you wanna play songs from HP5,X2 and X3.Thank you,

Glad to see an EU version !
About pads, why not create a pad that you connect to the Wiimote ? Or a softpad with battery ? Those who doesn't have a Wii with GC'ports are screwed Sad .
