Yeah, 784 million copies in a country with only 300 million people... I think it's obvious that number is bogus...

764 ... in a country where the population is over 300 million? ... I somehow doubt that's accounting for all sales.
It says that's what the sales is, which is profit I'm assuming. Also, it says 764 million copies/dollars, not 764 copies/dollarsPost #3944 · Posted at 2011-10-25 05:40:05am 13.8 years ago

If you look at Just Dance 2, the graph actually says 1M, 2M..., instead of 100, 200.
What VGChartz is actually saying is that this game only sold 800 copies in the first week. I already know VGChartz is pretty bullshit but if this is remotely close to an accurate estimate, DDR is fucking dead and I'll just quit now, and stop trying to convince Round1 that they need to replace our shitty Betson cab with a Japanese dedicab.

I'm calling that bullshit all round. It's hard to believe DDR II sold that few copies over seven days.

The chart says on the side "In Millions". Its 784 Million copies......I think.
Just check the sales figures for a more popular game. Like Just Dance. When something has sold in the millions, the sales graph is marked accordingly. If this HAD sold 784 million copies somehow - through some sort of awful black magic I can't even begin to fathom I guess - the graph would say 784M, and the sales history chart would say 784,000,000. So, 784 means just that. 784 copies. Whether it's actually a correct figure or not, I guess, is up for debate, but regardless it's obvious that's the figure they intended us to glean from that graph. So, let's say this really did sell a paltry 784 copies in its first week. DDR2010, meanwhile, apparently sold a little over 20,000 copies on the Wii in its first week. Even considering all the things this has going against it sales-wise that everyone has already mentioned, that's an astonishingly steep drop. I guess, despite the fact that it's such a nice release, it's still too little too late after YEARS of mismanagement. I mean, I personally only happened into learning about how cool and arcadey this game's songlist was by pure chance. I'm sure there are plenty more people who just completely gave up on keeping track of new DDR releases after the crap we got the last couple years. And, of course, the casual crowd has pretty much completely moved on to things like Just Dance.
I'm trying to reserve my judgement on Just Dance until, by some unfortunate set of circumstances, I'm actually forced to play it. But right now, it seems to me like it's kind of pointless. I actually like DDR for its arcade-like rigidity. If I wanted to just dance in a more normal fashion, I'd just put on a CD and....just dance, instead of dropping money on Just Dance.
Yes, I still buy CDs. Because I'm some sort of friggin' dinosaur, I guess.

EDIT: Okay, yindesu beat me to the clarification of the "in millions" thing. Because I'm incapable of saying anything succinctly, I guess.

maybe they just don't like DDR. Also, yeah, theres no way only 764 people have bought the game. Theres just no way that few people have acknowledged the game.Post #3950 · Posted at 2011-10-25 05:51:58am 13.8 years ago

thats more then half the population. There are 7 billion people on Earth. That means 80% of the people on Earth have bought it. Thats simply not possible. I agree with Taro, this site is bs.

To be honest, I think the (in millions) part is wrong. If you look on the right side and the bottom it gives you a decimal in millions. So 0.01 would be 10,000 units.
In that vein, the right side of DDR II says 0.00m. The game really did sell 750 copies, methinks :/

^ Exactly. The GRAPH is wrong just because of the "in millions" tag. They probably didn't modify it from more popular games/sales charts.

Actually, the "In Millions" part is there even on games that sold millions, implying Just Dance 2 sold nine trillion copies.

In this topic, people ignore me
except for JessTehSkox
The way VGChartz works, in case you guys don't lurk in console gaming message boards, is they make guesses and then change their numbers once official numbers are released. When the NPD numbers used to separate title platforms, this made "guesstimates" more accurate since they would just tack on an extra X thousand copies to compensate for Wal-Mart or whatever not being counted by the NPD. Now, the NPD combines the Xbox and PlayStation sales into a single number, not that it's relevant to DDR II.
tl;dr VGChartz is full of shit like I said in my first post, but there must be some reason their estimate of 800 is so far off from the 40k that DDR 2010 for Wii supposedly did in the first 2 weeks. I don't know what they've done with the game+pad bundle for example, since I bought that since the last DDR CS I've bought was either DDR Mario Mix+pad or DDR Ultramix 4. (because I don't do PlayStation or 360.)
