Casual players won't know what the charts were like anyway. Practically everybody that knows how the charts are constructed knows the acronyms, and vice versa.
Actually they might know NGO Challenge since that's been in America. DEGRS not so much, but why make it harder for people to learn what they are if they're interested?

Thanks for that review! Nice work.
Were you a tad disappoitned with X, out of curiousity?

Well, yes and no.
I'm very happy that we got the largest US PS2 list, and there are some incredibly catchy songs like Flourish, Waiting 4 u, and Inspiration. As I've said since I played it, a majority of the charts are great.
But I'm one of those avid Bemani players I mentioned that is disappointed by the lack of Bemani on the game. It's unfortunate, but it looks like Konami decided that bringing some of the cool SN2 songs was enough for the US fans.
Overall, I think it's one of the better US mixes, but I can't help but glance at the HP2 list and feel disappointed.

You know what. Honestly, I can see where you're coming from. Especially when you mention HP2's great song list, you can't help but feel a little.. underwhelemed, I guess is the proper term for how you're feeling in relation to DDRX's overall appeal and how its release has affected you.

So I've noticed people posting about cameos of other characters appearing in SMM. Well did anyone notice Jonny was in the ending pic for Jenny's story?

I am so, SO annoyed.
I was playing through Street Master Mode last night, when suddenly the music started hanging. Thinking it might stop if I exited back out to the main menu, I left SMM, where it started to autosave, and then... froze. During the saving process. I waited it out a long time in the hope that it might unfreeze, but soon I realized there was no hope. So I reset, knowing full well what happens when you reset/power off during the saving process. Sure enough, I was welcomed back into DDR X with a warning that my save file was corrupted. Ugh.
The good news is I wasn't too far in -- I was only Baby-Lon's episode. The bad news is, I had unlocked about six songs and 58% of the Information entries... and, well, it's Street Master Mode, and it isn't nearly fun enough for me to want to have to repeat any of it. But repeating I am... I've now completed Emi's episode again and am almost finished with Zero's. But again... ugh.
The unlocks better be worth all this trouble, because the overall quality of the default songlist has me worried that they won't be. Here's hoping...

Another bug? Whoop-dee-doo. If anybody else comes across this problem, you should post it so that we know it's not a one-time accident

Uh, how's the rest of your saved data?
Did any other data on your memory card get corrupted? That's what I'd be worried about.

I agree that X is one of the better PS2 mixes. But I have a feeling that they are saving a lot of the more "veteran" in house artists for the Arcade release. Just my gut feeling.

So I take it the verdict is "YES" on DDR X?
Alright, I'll pick it up.

Well, I checked my card and everything else appears to be in fine working order. It's a memory card image I had dedicated to only DDR games, so maybe I should actually load up the mixes and check, but there was only one file of "corrupted data" and the only file missing was DDR X's system file, so I think I'm okay. But yeah, I should probably go check.
I did forget to mention that I'm playing on a PS3 (I play in the arcade, but CCR at home). I don't know if that makes a difference bug-wise, but just in case.
And yes, I agree that they're probably holding back most of the in-house Bemani artists for the arcade (and Japanese CS) release. If there's one thing I can say about this mix so far, it's that it's not necessarily bad, but there's not nearly enough KOs/Bemani music on it... which really stings in light of Hottest Party 2's songlist. It just feels like there's something missing, and that something is a decent number of new KOs that can really be attributed to DDR X. But I also don't think this can necessarily be blamed on KoA; I mean, look at both the Japanese and US location tests for DDR X AC. There was hardly any new content on there either, which leads me to believe that a lot of the new KOs that could have been included on this mix simply were not ready yet; in other words, I'm not so sure that KoA had that many songs to choose from beyond "new" (to US console mixes) SuperNOVA 2 songs.
I dunno, that's just my two cents.

Oh man, I just heard all of Taj He Spitz and noticed that the preview on the song wheel is the only good part of the song.
The rest is terrible.

Funny, I've never heard the preview on the song wheel, because it takes too long for it to load the preview. Funny how the previews load fast in SMM, but not in normal game mode.

maybe its the ps3 then, cause i remember that exact same thing happened when i was at my brothers house playing guitar hero. he ended up not being able to play games anymore and had to get the ps3 fixed >_>

Yeah, the PS3 has a tendency to corrupt save data. That's why I don't intend on using the PS3 for my PS2 or PS1 games (when I get one).
Anybody check the quality of the Doubles charts?

I wish you could change the Final/ES/EES after you unlock all of the songs. I'd love to have on the bounce as Final, Trigger as ES, and Pluto as EES, but once you unlock the first two they don't appear as any of them ever again.
The red song things bugs me too, though. I wonder why they couldn't just stay red after you unlock them.
