My only (yet major) gripe with the new announcer (besides the frequent appearances) is that he speaks Japanese like a fricking tourist. Personally, I wouldn't speak Japanese unless the game requires it (IMHO, any DDR game made for the American market shouldn't have Japanese speech at all.

Back on topic...Horatio reminds me of many a spaghetti western film.

EDIT: So far I've cleared SMM for 4 characters, yet only three songs were unlocked. Do I have to clear both normal and advanced modes for each episode to unlock certain things (namely the songs)?

Since I don't think it's been mentioned, and some people will like to know, and I just got one, yes it displays "PERFECT FULL COMBO" when you get all perfect/marvelous. (Puzzle difficult was the chart)

Edit for Exor: I think you can unlock songs just by playing songs in normal game mode. I got two songs just doing that because I wanted to do some actual dancing before going back to slogging through SMM just to laugh at the story.

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but the announcer DOES NOT say anything if you play a boss song (even on non-final/extra stage)

Very true. I don't mind him on the results screen/mode or music select but this is a MUSIC game. I'm not stepping to announcers, I'm stepping to the song.

Has anyone else noticed that breaking a freeze stops your combo?

Yes, I hope an AC video can confirm if it does it there or not. If it doesn't then it is likely a programing error associated with Shock Arrows breaking your combo while also giving you another N.G.

If this is actually a programming error though, it would be a rather huge one to make...but of course I'll give the benefit of the doubt, since this is the first CS release to feature shock arrows.

On the other hand, if this is a new gameplay change I can't say I agree with it...I imagine AC players on shoddy pads won't be great fans of this either.

i dont think its a programming error, but rather a change. NG breaks combo now, regardless of how you get one. this seems to be a change to DDR in general. shock arrows are clearly mimicking mines, but those didnt break combo in ITG, neither did dropping a hold. i dont see why either would break combo NOW unless they wanted NG to break it.

also, in emi's SMM, all 9 of her pre-dance dialogues could be the start of a porno.

When I was at the beta test, hitting shock arrows breaks combos while not holding freeze doesn't.
