ITG also censored words like "Boyfriend" and "Dark side"

I didn't know that, I know in the song "Charlene" they censored some words, but I didn't know they took out Darkside and Boyfriend

Well, "dark side" wasn't supposed to be censored. It was an editing mistake.

Most censors in ITG were done by replacing the removed words with another section of the music at the same pitch. In one song, they had to censor something but there wasn't anything at the right pitch. So they took a section (the same section as "dark side") and raised its pitch so it would work. They forgot to lower the pitch of the original back.

They submitted a copy of the game to the ESRB, who sent them a list of words and phrases, which, when used in a certain context, could be used to describe sex, violence, or anti-sorial activity.

In order to make sure they'd get an "E" rating (and not have to compile off and re-submit a second copy of the game), they censored every single occurance of every single word on the list, regardless of the context it was being used in.

They censored the word "load".

According to the latest DDR Fact Sheet from Konami, this game and apparently the Wii one isn't developed by Konami but rather by some company called GCP1? Who is the same company that's in charge of DanceMasters.

I think we have our answer why so much has changed: cos they let someone else do it.

Maybe GCP1 is an internal studio within, or a subsidiary of, Konami. Hudson Soft (a subsidiary of Konami since 2001) developed DDR Universe 2 & 3 (might've also finished Universe 1 after Konami Hawaii's demise).

Because you have to pay the ESRB a ton of money, every time you send them a new build for evaluation. They probably couldn't afford to leave in anything that could possibly push up the rating.

I just did a Google search for GCP1 and they are a brand new company, They only have Dancemasters listed as games produced by them... let's hope this isn't a sign... :/

One interesting tidbit though is that it's listed that they only work on the 360.
