"Let's Do the Rain Dance" |
First, the same situation of a contest applies to 'Till the Lonely's Gone, which as far as I know is also credited. Second, that contest allowed for usage of the song, but the song was not created for the contest. Much like Eternus the previous year, it had existed as a commercial song and was given the go-ahead to be used in the contest.

Oh! I didn't know those two songs existed outside of DDR. Thanks for explaining it.

For those that may or may not be aware but as of DDR X3, licenses have been listed before KOs. I elaborated on this in the "Interesting Little Things in DDR" thread but in short, with this method of folder sorting some songs got "redefined". With this new setup La Bamba (Extreme) and Jupiter ~Bringer of Jolity~ went from being KOs to licenses while La Bamba (SuperNOVA) and Till the lonely's gone went from being licenses to KOs. I'm not sure why they did this or what that means for the future of these songs (especially La Bamba (Extreme) seeing how Jupiter was removed). I have theories for why this is so if anyone wants a link to the thread I can do that (but not right now, I'm in school).
On a semi-related note, I'm surprised Trickster isn't on the recent removal list. Seeing as how it was removed from Gitadora Tri-Boost a few weeks ago, you'd think it would be removed from DDR. Since the version of Trickster from DDR is the original, as opposed to the Gitadora version being a cover, maybe it has "special rules".

I think they mixed up the La Bambas. It's a Mexican folk song, and the SN1 version was going to actually be the Baha Men version so it would make more sense that way.

For hooky:
IIRC that was one of the theories I proposed: "the Mix Up Theory". The other one is "the Artsist Theory" that involves the fact that the Extreme version was made for Mambo a Go Go by an unknown artist credited as "Mexican folk song" and the other one was made for SuperNOVA by in-house artists. And whoever "Mexican folk song" is might claim rights to that version while KONAMI has full rights to the SN version. I prefer the Artist Theory over the Mix Up Theory due to the fact that in both SuperNOVA 2 US PS2 and DDR X2 PS2 the SN version was considered a KO.
For Corey:
Both Boys (2008 X-Edit) and Get Up And Move (2008 X-Edit) have been removed since DDR 2013 came out.

Mexican Folk Song is probably TOMOSUKE, the arranger of LA BAMBA. The artist name is an alias probably and maybe a homage to the fact LA BAMBA is a traditional folk song orginating from Mexico obviously.

It may be possible that he did that arrengement of that song. The main problem is that "LA BAMBA" it's the first song in the Extreme folder, meaning that it's a licensed song. If Tomosuke did arrange that version, then it would be a Konami Original and it'd also be located among other songs in the Extreme folder instead of being at the start.

Oh well, it is Konami.
EDIT: Just because TOMOSUKE arranged La Bamba doesnt mean it has to be in the KO section of EXTREME.
Plus, many licenses has been arranged by KO composers and dont appear within the KO section.

you say this like all that konami/bemani is capable of accomplishing are mistakescasual reminder you're a semi-regular on a forum based around their games, so they must've done something right in order to get you to join here

They're taking songs OUT of a DDR? Didn't they do that with a single song back in SuperNOVA?
They've done this for the entirety of DDR2013. Maybe X3 as well. It's mostly due to licenses expiring, but they sometimes remove KOs as well (Kind Lady being the most recent example, which had just been added to Dance Evolution before being removed from both DDR and DE).
Sorry, 2013 was kind of a busy year for me. What'd I miss?

But wasn't that song in pop'n music too? Also, the DDR version is a cover. The version in jubeat is the original one.
