Just a little note: I prefer backgrounds that don't look exactly like the banner and instead convey the theme a bit differently.

I just found a program called xmountains that will generate landscape fractals in isometric or a top-down view.

Here's an example output of the program.



And with some creative use of GIMP...



So I can totally see this being used to generate content for background images for songs.

Anyone have any idea if the CD images can be ripped from the game disc?
We could base a few backgrounds on the CD images. But the Pluto one is a bit ugly.. I prefer mine and Al's design.

My attempt on Dream Machine. Didn't turn out very well imo, but a background is better than none.

I think it would be neat if the "Machine" part of the text was similar to the "Dream" part, so it looks like it's casting a shadow underneath. Unless that's what it's like in the banner?
Anyway, it looks awesome.

Updated the Custom Background Status Page with X backgrounds.

So, do the DDR X songs need any-old background that works, or are we recreating from existing artwork in the game?

I don't own the game, but if I can make backgrounds without needing screenshots (AKA, I just make them up by myself), I'll certainly get right to work on some more backgrounds.

EDIT:
I just went to youtube and saw some gameplay videos. It looks like there are banners that should be used as the basis for the background artwork. Does anyone want to upload screenshots of the game's banners?
