Then a year from that, we'll be talking about "last year's DDR next." ^.^ And the DDR after "next..." what, "DDR -after next-?"

I'd assume they would've made a new motif or interface by that time. We don't even know what it would look like.
i know this is crazy, but I have a feeling that the PS2 version will have lesser songs than the next-gen versions kinda like DS Fever and Fusion with the differences on the PS1 and PS2 songlists.

I really hope not! And if they do, let's hope they scrap the iffy ones, instead of the meaty ones (which -would- follow suit). If this is next-gen based, I'd settle for a stripped interface/skin...

What would be a better idea is if the scrapped songs were already featured in PS2 mixes, and not relevant to courses... but that's IF they have to make a move like that. I sure hope not! (/cheapn... I mean "frugality")

Aww, i would've loved to see Let Them Move in this mix. Most of the KOs in Strike/Extreme2/DS MAX, didn't even make it to Supernova AC. That's one thing to look forward to. It should be noted however, that the earlier mixes contained more dancemania licenses than KOs, I'd assume they'd be done with 1st-to-5th mix at around 350 or so songs, unless they plan to bring back licenses to, in which case, MAHOO!!!

dude, they fit over 200 songs and game image on one CD (DDR Extreme anyone) With SD cards being well over 1Gig in size, there should be no reason they can't have DCL for the Wii, even with reduced audio quality.

extreme was on a DVD, and had 111 songs.

Actually, MOST of the songs that originated in those mixes DID make it! INJECTION OF LOVE is about the only one I can think of (besides a few Ultramix series crossovers) that didn't. And it's really sad to see just how many of THOSE haven't been featured. I mean, at least INFINITE PRAYER, MGS2 mission R, BATTLE BREAKS, GET IT ALL, and MAD BLAST should've been featured AGES ago; they're all UM1-era! And wicked-cool songs with wicked-cool charts.

Heck, not even most of the half-assed DDR spinoffs (DDR S, KonamiPlay's flash-DDR) batch the Ultramix/Universe series songs together with the arcade/HP ones. Even DDR X arcade is featuring HP songs... is KDEA/KDEJ now completely split or something? I wouldn't expect so, with NAOKI tracks still appearing in Uni3... I really wonder what's up with that.

I guess they want to focus on the american market the same way Xbox artists have invaded the PS2 games (by extension, the japanese market, most of the artists are known for remixing american and/or European songs). I can't say anything about europe since the PAL games are more or less the american versions with extra languages, diff. licensed songs, etc.

Well, if we're having a greatest hits game, why not put songs on it that... well... you know... made DDR... DDR. Like the classics. From 1st mix all the way to EXTREME. (Even the Ultramix DLC we never got yet, like MAD BLAST or infinite prayer (floating stock remix).)

I think he meant the arcade version of EXTREME, which was on a CD (At the expense of graphical and audio quality). But even then, the PS2 version of EXTREME only used 1 Gig of space on the 4.7GB DVD.

This was the first I heard that EXTREME arcade was on a CD not a DVD. Especially since beware's build of EXTREME can't fit on a CD without making a sacrifice of deleting something.

EXTREME AC has always been on a CD, hence the audio quality wasn't so great on it due to extreme compression techniques to fit all the background videos, audio and game under 700mb.

Extreme also did away with lots of the bg videos from the Max series, ever noticed that songs such as Do You Remember Me and Candy* used certain bg movies that are nowhere to be found in Extreme? The quality of the remaining videos is quite lower that in the Max AC games, even lower than in the CS games. Ever noticed how crystal-clear the bg movies are in the home versions? Up to Extreme, DDR games could have keep being released on the PS1. DDR SN was the first DDR to truly take advantage of the ps2 graphical capabilities, hence the need for new arcade ps2-based-hardware for SN (up to Extreme, it was ps1-based-hardware). I think something similar happened between IIDX 8th and 9th style, hence the noticeable graphical upgrade.

Oh yeah, it's a CD. EXTREME was the last DDR arcade machine to use the Bemani 573 Digital system, which is basically an original PlayStation with a JAMMA connector. The SuperNOVAs use straight up PS2s so those ARE on DVDs (and hard drives) and X uses Bemani PC ('bout time) which is most akin to an ITG Boxor system, everything is on a hard drive so the game can be as big as the biggest hard drive out at the time.

Beware rips most of his videos from the home versions of the games, where the videos are of higher quality. And his videos are coded to be a lot larger than the originals (Konami's really good at compression... well, they're really good at compressing things and not so good at making compressed things look good). So yeah, the sum of his work (which includes videos not found on EXTREME AC) is a lot larger than EXTREME itself.

Bump.

Going back on topic, which artists would you like to see more of? I'd personally like more De-Sire and 2MB.

But Desire is just Naoki and there's plenty of Desire (Healing Visions, Trip Machines) and 2MB is just Yuichi Asami and there's plenty of him too. Though, I wouldn't mind seeing a 2MB remix of a non-boss song (just look at what he turned La Senorita into!)
