FOREVER HARDCORE (lrxevan) - audio quality seems a little iffy (almost tinny-sounding?). love the graphics and the chart is fun.
Unfortunately that's the way this track was made. It's a bootleg, the remix was made by basically taking the original song and then cutting low frequencies out and adding his own instrumentation around it. It's also pretty old now

Cold Summer (firejack) - i liked the song itself, but the audio seems a little low quality. as for the steps, it felt overstepped and forced. i feel like this song doesn't warrant a level 14 chart in the first place.
I did it like that just to contrast it from the heavy chart, its a little over steped on the vocal part but I wanted the chart to be that way so that it could be harder than the heavy. But I understand what you mean, thanks for your input 😁

Always (Pika-Vix) - similarly to 7 Rings, it felt like there were some unnecessary freeze arrows (not talking about the part that you took from Always from HP1). not bad but not super amazing. also, i believe it should be a 12 or 13.
Is there a quick guide someone can recommend for X scale ratings? I haven't played any new DDR games and have no idea what to base off of.

5th - Red Sun [mf32892] - 22
Hey! Thanks for 5th place! I had no expectations going in.
I was a little too busy to make a file for Week 2, but I did manage to write some feedback for each file in Group 1 (my group). It's all detailed here, in this spreadsheet
The spreadsheet here is open to comments from anyone with the link. If you want me to clarify any comments I made, you can comment there, or PM me!
Looking forward to participating in Week 3!

Part 1 here: https://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/thread?postid=435187#p435187
Here's my thoughts about the rest of the files from my group.
Notes:
I'm not scoring publicly for obvious reasons.
These are just my opinions.
I only played the hardest single difficulty.
INFINITE PRAYER -Ryu☆ Remix- (FoRCeDNaTuRe) - love the remix, was actually gonna step it myself a while back for a pack but it ended up not working out lol. i thought challenge was fun and twisty. i love the original infinite prayer's chart so it's no surprise that i liked this.
Koko Soko (AKIBA KOUBOU Eurobeat Remix) (The Legendary DJXYZ) - i didn't really have any problems with the chart itself, i just wish the song cut was shorter. it gets a bit repetitive
Mare Maris (CLOUDIO) - the song isn't really my cup of tea, but the chart wasn't bad. i thought this part was really well done (see pic: https://i.imgur.com/inv4ELl.jpg )
亡き王女の為のセプテット (mathio214) - i think you forgot the Japanese title in your .sm, not that it's a deal-breaker or anything. what is a deal-breaker for me though is the doubling of the BPM, adding inflated difficulty and making the chart not fit the song for me. i think you were incorporating Valkyrie dimension but it's a no from me.
One The Love (OrangeRight) - one of my favorite DJMAX songs, great choice. i don't know if i would have personally made a level 15 chart for this song, but it's good for what it is. also like how you chose to sample PUT YOUR FAITH IN ME because the songs share vocal samples. we love a reference.
rainbow (Telperion) - cute song. love the graphics, too. good call sampling murmur twins as this song reminds me of it.
Rave In The Grave (KevinRocker10) - i liked the chart, though i felt like all the bpm changes were unnecessary and the stutter gimmicks (if that's what these are called) were not needed either.
Right On Time (TonyAkita) - liked the song. i felt like the chart was really nice, not overstepped but still challenging enough. that being said, i feel like there could be a challenge chart to this and i wouldn't be mad about it.
Seventh Heaven (白流Remix) (tsugaru7reveng) - don't really care for the song but your chart did it justice, especially the weird piano parts. not much else to say here, well done.
Stigma (HealingDMax300) - like the song, but i'm definitely not a fan of these itg techy charts in the first place. however, nothing really stuck out to me as wrong in the chart. thought the ending bpm changes were a little extra too but that's probably just me lol
Tempestissimo (PenTA_) - similar to Stigma, i'm not a fan of boss song-esque charts and songs usually, but nothing really stuck out to me as glaringly wrong in the chart

Hey chewi, thank you for the feedback, I'll be more careful with my BPM changes in the future.

The x-scale system adds some fluff around each number by making it out of 20 instead. A rule of thumb is: oldschool rating x 2 and then + or - 1 depending on which side of the oldschool rating you feel it might have been on.
For example I think FOREVER HARDCORE in this week was like an 8, and like exactly an 8. So I did 8 + (8 / 2) = 12.
If I thought it was slightly easier than an 8 I might have done (8 + (8 / 2)) - 1 = 11.

Here's the approximation based on playing enough of the easier charts. I know nothing about the ITG scale but I think I played a few charts with those ratings in contests; feel free to correct if I'm wrong.

"X scale 20" |
That's a pretty good guide, I'd say the upper difficulties in terms of ITG:
13: 9
14: Hard 9/ Easy 10
15: Mid-hard 10
16: Low-mid 11
17: Hard 11/Easy 12
18: Hard 12/13
19: 14/15
20: 15+
13: 9
14: Hard 9/ Easy 10
15: Mid-hard 10
16: Low-mid 11
17: Hard 11/Easy 12
18: Hard 12/13
19: 14/15
20: 15+

I multiply the ITG scale by x1.5 to get X-Scale ratings. 2 is 3, 7 is 10-11, 10 is 15, et cetera. Playing X-Scale rated charts is another way to get used to the ranking system. There's this general sense of what's what in terms of difficulty ratings, after playing enough official charts.
Also saw the comment about Koko Soko being too long... That's definitely been a thing for me recently, going for the longer cut. In the next few weeks, you'll probably see what I mean, cause I've got lots of 2:20-2:30 cuts lined up... but yeah, I understand if that made Koko Soko too repetitive for you.
