DDR 2014 - Idora (SP-CHALLENGE(MIRROR)): http://youtu.be/6iOQyeBSbYI
Looks a little hard for a 17
Edit : Whoops, Idola. I just copied and pasted from the video.

this is probably one of the weirdest charts i've seen for a 17...
looks to me like an 18, the beginning is hell on earth

The speed and patterns of Idola [Challenege] remind me a little bit of Monolith [Expert] on ITG 2. Just slightly. That song could kill your ankles haha. But yeah, this looks a little tough for 17, granted I've only ever played a couple 17s.

I think it's fine as a 17. Not sure about passing, but I think I can PFC it, yet I have an insane amount of trouble with 18s.

either a hard 17 or an 18. those patterns make it look like an 18, 12th notes + 16ths + jumps all over the place, the patterns are really wonky

Here's a version of Idola CSP with claps and NOT mirrored :p
http://sp.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm23929685?cp_in=wt_srch
I'm still wondering what about this chart gives anyone any indication that it is only a 17?
Besides the blank space in the middle of it of course :p

Nothing pushes it to 18 level. It doesn't have the challenging crossovers like PARANOiA Revolution ESP / HDV CSP / Mei CSP, the stamina requirement of New Decade / Triple Journey CSP, the absolute bullshit of DEGRS... it's just like AETHER in that it is pretty consistently dense, but it's very doable.

I think the reason why Konami rated Idola CSP a 17 is because it only has 28 more notes than the 16-foot Expert chart. However, it definitely looks like it should've been an 18.

I'd say it's on Spanish Snowy Dance
level, so yeah, a slightly hard 17.

So, by that logic, both IX EXPERT and CHALLENGE charts should be rated the same because both Single/Double charts have 753/700 notes respectively? Of course not; step density sure is a factor on the rating but the patterns are also an important factor.Post #3491 · Posted at 2014-07-06 08:25:07am 11 years ago

There's a lot of breaks in that chart for it to be an 18. It really doesn't get difficult until the last 10 seconds or so. 12th notes at this speed are 16th notes at around 150 BPM so those crossovers aren't that bad. It's definitely close to an 18, but I don't think makes the cut. If this was an 18, the only 18s that would be easier are FAXX and NGO (maybe Trigger, but that chart is awful anyway).
I also think FAXX and NGO should be rated 17
I actually like this chart a lot. I just wish they would stop abusing jump-steps that the engine can't handle.

care to elaborate about this? curious about the engine unable to handle part.

FAXX Heavy and Challenge are literally the same chart with a slightly harder intro on Challenge. They should have the same rating.

You can probably disregard that statement.
After about 200 BPM 8th notes, jump-steps tend to cause a "pad" almost/boo. With the removal of that judgement, it probably doesn't happen anymore. It's just I saw a non combo in a previous video on one of the 12th note jumps and figured that was why. It was more of a home version issue (because of wider timing windows) but a few charts on the arcade version did (do?) this too. For example, the ending jumps of Paranoia Hades CSP.
So yeah, I don't know if that's still a thing or not!

Except the Challenge chart starts off with every intention to kill you, plus the extra movement on the slowdown where the arrows are all clustered just before the gallops tends to throw most people off, not to mention the fact that it ends with a jump instead of a regular step
It may look the same, but there are slight changes that increases that chart's difficulty
But that's beside the point
Back on topic
Does anyone even care about the Floor Infection songs?
We're still missing 3 of the Singles expert charts
not to mention the other charts as well
All I've seen so far are Doubles expert

i don't think so. i'm not capable to combo PARANOiA ~HADES~ CSP yet but i remember Fascination ~eternal love mix~ CSP being a notorious example in SN CS... the step jumps are easily combo-able on AC though, i FC'd it once.

That was a bug in SN that they eventually fixed.

I think that we need to use decimals in order to take more acuratte ratings XD for example, Idora , IMHO, should be a "17'5" because it have few part where you can rest, but then you have to face with a long long stamina drain parts , with 1/12 notes and jumps
Anyway, I love the charts, I love the new Konami Style

SUPER HERO / DJ YOSHITAKA feat. Michaela Thurlow will be added as an Extra Attack song on (I'm assuming) the 11th (a week from Party Lights).
