Didn't we have a thread for misrated songs?
Seriously. Most of this thread is filled with trivialities and complaints about foot ratings. If there isn't already a thread for this, make one.
Just created one at http://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/viewthread.php?threadid=4928.

The ratings of new songs in DDR X3 is relevant to the DDR X3 thread. I was under the impression that the separate thread had been made to discuss bygone ratings.

It'll be for misrated songs from any DDR release.

So what are we supposed to talk about in the DDR X3 thread if not the DDR X3 song charts (and their ratings)

All these new unlocks they keep shoveling on top of us.
Here's a question though, that becomes more and more a probability with each additional mix: How long until Konami stops updating the old cabinets and forces arcades to buy the new one?
I was personally surprised that upgrade kits were released for the old 573 machines. Especially after they shipped the new cabinets out first and I was certain that the old ones would be stuck on X2. Almost every arcade in Japan has at least one new DDR cabinet, and from what I heard when X3 came out many locations took that as an opportunity to unload or mothball some or all of their older machines and get additional new ones. What say you, denizens of ZIv?

Clarification. I just made the separate thread for DDR in general, not just X3. If you want to continue your X3 ratings discussions here, that's fine.

Oh, and Stars*** (Re-tuned by HΛL) is a 10 on
, but a 9 on
.
Didn't we have a thread for misrated songs?
Stars*** (Re-tuned by HΛL) has been re-rated correctly.

Didn't we have a thread for misrated songs?
S-

Score bug is here again (just like SN2/X/X2)

How this happen (Example):
→ P1 play

→ P1 must get new record
→ On the next "Select Music" screen, there you go, both P1

→ On P2 Rival scoresheet highlighted

→ But the actual score is already shown on P1

I guess Konami didn't bother to fix this, since its just a score display bug, & not the actual score (saved) bug.

Seems like it. KONAMI is doing a pretty poor job with the ratings in X3. We've got Chronos

At least the charts are good though. It's just weird they've become so inaccurate with ratings again, after X2 was pretty consistent.

This whole system, to me, felt very confusing from the start. Having been used to the 1-10 rating system for so long, it's hard to see which new rating matches the old ones. The biggest problem too is that since the 1-20 is more detailed, the risk of songs being misrated increases as well. For example, I've never seen the chart for Seule, but if I believe what you say, should we measure it in the old scale, it shouldn't be a 9, but rather an easy 8/hard 7. In fact, almost all songs from HP got overrated from what I can see.

Keep in mind a lot of these ratings we're going from simply playing them on Stepmania or videos. Some songs will feel harder/easier to some people once you actually play them on a DDR machine. For example: I thought POSSESSION Expert was insanely hard until I actually passed it for the first time. Now I really feel like it's more of a 16 than a 17.
Plus, one great advantage to this is Konami now no longer rates a song solely based on how hard it is to read without mods (My Summer Love gets bumped down).
Something like Haunted Rhapsody I find perfectly rated because of the double stepping required and how much energy drain it causes me. Who knows what Konami uses as a base play style for their ratings. Maybe they rate things based on how hard an inexperienced player may find it on a sight read, who knows.

Well, in the past, they would actually rate songs before writing charts, and the chart writers then wrote charts to the given ratings. I wonder if they still do that? Would kind of explain why some of the ratings are off; one stepper's idea of a given rating is different from another's. It'd be interesting if the severely underrated songs were stepped by the same person, and the overrated ones stepped by another.

You're joking right? That is the stupidest thing I've heard all
Is it possible that one person is writing the charts and someone else is rating them?

I could see the use in doing that, before the charts are all finished they probably have a difficulty distribution that they want to fulfill. Otherwise the end result could be a songlist that is too easy, or one that is all 15s or above if the chart creators get carried away.

I imagine since SN2, that might be how it has been. Or at least that's what they did one time only... I mean take a look at...
Why Uranus

Why Hades

Why NGO

Why Trip Machine Phoenix

Why Unreal

Why Sakura DP

Why Arrabiatta

Naoki said he did it for his boss songs.
And Daiz, I don't know if you cheated the jumps, but POSSESSION is a legit 17 footer. The first set of jumps drained the heck out of me, so the rest of the song became a real challenge.

I think that the people who said Konami rated the charts before they make them might be right.
Some of the misratings from SN2 might be a result of trying to differentiate the hardest charts.
Paranoia Hades
is rated a 9 because it's easier than
, even though it's harder than most 9's. This results in nonsense like Paranoia Hades
being rated an 8, even though it's about as hard as Max 300.

They actually used this practice up until X CS and I wouldn't doubt that they still do

Wow, FLOWER DP-
is even easier than SP-
. This is absolutely no more than a 15. Possibly 14 material, even. Very reminiscent of Pierce The Sky at times.
Also, the more I see SP-
, the more it reminds me of roppongi EVOLVED. It's probably more of a 15, really.
