Something dumb that happened to me around the beginning of June: I got my laptop banned from The Cutting Room Floor because I browsed through too many pages over the course of a day, maybe a few days. And no, I don't have an account there, but I kinda wish I got one anyway.

I miss forums. I hate joining Discords at this point I'd honestly rather sign up for a company's whole suite of marketing emails and newsletters than join a discord server. Occasionally the other DDR players at Round1 talk about the local rhythm gaming discord and while hypothetically that sounds fun I also hate discord passionately and will never join. Whatever happened to webbed sites...

That being said I do like how you can change your name on Discord so that way if you put a gendered word in your username you don't end up regretting it years after you signed up for a service. I mean how annoying would it be if you couldn't change your username on Discord, and then you like DM'ed the admin of Discord and said "hey can I change my name? I realized some gendery things and my current username instills a bit of despair within me", and then they said no and it pissed you off so much you quit going on discord for like 7 years. Hypothetically. But yeah anyways I miss forums.

I got somehow distressed from last night when I knew my bestie (which also my ex) got scammed by his friend, and it's online loan. The scammer not even found nowhere when being asked about the responsibility. Seriously, what in the right mind the scammers had to put him like this. The amounts are also insane, which is about 10 - 20x times from his monthly wage

I just wish and pray him very well, and not taking any rash actions

Scams ruin people. I hope he's going to be okay, damn.

Update:

So, I just met him right now and at least told me what really happened

The scammer is.. from network friends, around salesperson or kinda outlet staffs that already being close for around a year or two. The person we talked indeed working as online loan staff. He/she doesn't even show signs of bad people, usually treat people food or some kind of thing, being polite and kind, honest, etc

So, the scammer said to his network friends (including my bestie/ex), that he/she needs to reach goal around certain amount. They asked them to lend around such amount needed, and they'll gave them back around 10% of their target. They used online loan as the platform

When being contacted, the person is suddenly gone. No even traces of their contacts ever, the boarding house is empty for around 2 weeks ago. And guess what, the scammer had already resigned and not working for around a year

There are already 50 victims

It kinda infuriating for my bestie/ex, that he's going to be fired if the company knew about bad credit rating. It took him three years to get a job again, including current job right now. So I'm so frustrated when such efforts wasted with a scammer, close people who's very kind and polite like this

Sorry maybe if kinda OOT, but please stay safe for close people around you, guys. Especially when it's about money or loans.

It's certainly infuriating and I understand your pain. I'm so sorry to hear that it happened to someone you really care about.

One thing I like to do for safety when someone asks me for money or to click on any sort of link is to first ask them a question only that this other person would know the answer to. I don't only look for whether their answer is correct or accurate, but also the way they go about answering it to gauge whether it sounds like them.

I just had another weird dream. This time, it was about a movie called Llama Capture. The movie was about a man who was bound and determined to teach llamas to play IIDX and become the best IIDX players in the world. So much so that he threatened everyone in his town to give him their llamas via a live radio broadcast. And if no one obeyed or didn't have a llama to give, he would have his own llama, named Jimmy John, wreak havoc among the town, while also threatening to boycott the Konami Arcade Championship. Lo and behold, no one else in the town had a llama. So, Jimmy John was sent out to destroy the town. At the end of the movie, the police were able to calm the llama down and the man was arrested for his actions.

I just had another bizarre dream. This time, I was in college taking a final exam. The course was about mythology in movies, and it was taught by William Daniels. (Yes, THAT William Daniels.) But the exam was very confusing from the jump. I had to flip to the middle of the scantron booklet to find the first question. And, in extremely tiny print, the first question was something like this:

Two elderly actors are shooting a movie together when the director has them both climbing trees for a scene. One of them gets down OK, the other is stuck. Write a letter to the director, in the style of Bob Marley, asking to send a rescue team to rescue the other actor.

The second question was in the form of a word search puzzle.
