The concept itself is great - a lot of people remember the Death Race mode from F-Zero as well as stuff like race types in games like Burnout that operated under the "finish a lap in last and you're eliminated" concept. But then they just kinda went "here's a weird version of the SNES game" instead of putting that concept into a fully fledged thing.

Hello ZiV folks!!~ I haven't posted on here in yet another long time(again, some of y'all probably don't know me either; was active in the 2010s lol), but happy to finally have DDR incorporated back into my exercise regimen at least twice a week. I'm only playing no bar now, but probably makes for a better workout. Still able to at least AA most expert charts and can pass 15s, some 16s. If I work back up to the harder stuff, cool, but if not, will just do it for the cardio, haha. (perfectionism is what made me stop playing so trying to avoid that, lol) I've also been maintaining a much healthier weight in the past 2-3 years which makes a HUGE difference play-wise.

Anyway, how's everyone doing? Still playing?

The Sambathon on Strictly also went that way too with 7 couples competing until there was only one.

Bless whoever is still updating RemyWiki and the community who is still active here. I must admit, I am no longer as involved with rhythm games as I once was, but coming on here is always such a nostalgic takeback.

I tried to stay active with the community via Twitter, but I don't live in Cali or any other major hubs, so it was very fomo.
However, I did like to see what was happening! But the site is shit now! So I moved to Bluesky.

I was jotting down miscellaneous ideas for the details of an original rhythm game on my phone and thought some people here might get a kick out of it. Maybe I should make it a reality someday somehow…

Note Judgement Levels:

Super Great!!! (Chromatic)
Pretty Cool!! (Teal)
Not Bad (Purple)
Bad (Red)

Each Super Great rating increases the health bar by 3%, each Pretty Cool increases it by 1%, each Not Bad affects it 0%, each Bad decreases it by 5%.


Song End Result Grades:

Perfect Supra Star (Gold) - 120,000 pts
Supra Star (Silver) - 100,000 pts
Four Stars (Indigo) - 80,000 pts
Three Stars (Red) - 60,000 pts
Two Stars (Teal) - 40,000 pts
One Star (Gray) - 20,000 pts
No Stars - 0 pts


Individual note point values are calibrated in a way so that all Super Great gives the player 120,000 points, all Pretty Cool gives 50,000, all Not Bad gives 10,000, all Bad gives 0. All Pretty Cool and above gives a Full Combo, a 5% total note amount of Pretty Cool gives a Flashing Full Combo, all Super Great results in Perfect Full Combo.

Songs have up to four difficulty charts depending on the songs potential for difficulty usually having two or three, first difficulty is usually Lv 1-3, second is usually Lv 2-5, third is usually Lv 4-8, fourth is usually Lv 6-10.

Difficulties and ratings are calibrated in a manner so that Lv 1 are charts ideal for players playing the game for the first time, Lv 2-3 are fun casual charts ideal for players with slight experience, Lv 4-5 are brisk challenges ideal for more experienced players, Lv 6-8 are intense challenges ideal for skilled pros, Lv 9-10 are very extreme challenges which will only appeal to premium top tier players.


Stages:

PRIME STAGE (Gray and Teal UI)
NEXT PHASE (Pink and Green UI)
SPECIAL PHASE (Maroon and Indigo UI)
GRAND FINALE (Gold and Black UI)

-Prime Stage is always played to the end, giving the player a full song regardless of performance.
-Next Phase is always played after Prime Stage.
-Special Phase is played as long as Prime Stage was played on a song of Lv 3 or higher without failing or if a song of Lv 1-2 was passed with at least a Three Star grade. Has a weighted red lifebar that will end the game of depleted.
-Grand Finale is played if all prior stages were passed and for either prior stage any song is cleared with a Supra Star grade, a song of Lv 6 or above is cleared with a Four Star grade or better or if a Lv 9 or 10 are cleared at all, has a weighted gold colored life bar that will end the game if depleted.

Are there any reasons as to why the first one is called a "stage" but the next two are called a "phase"?

Five days ago was my first time to travel solo internationally. I have a lot to learn from my experience, and that's an understatement.

Congrats! Traveling solo was daunting for me at first, but now I enjoy it. Honestly find it easier than going with a group because you can choose your itinerary/schedule. Hope it was fun!

Anyone else fucking sick of this year already?

Lost my job, the world is rapidly corrupting itself, and everything I had to look forward to in the first half of 2025 has gone down the fucking toilet. It's never going to get fucking better, is it?

I'm fine, this year (so far), but I worry for those who aren't, due to the massive amounts of corrupt, fascist bullshit going on.

On the bright side, the Eagles won the Super Bowl, so we have that to celebrate, at least. 🦅
