Are Spork!/Gameoson/Telperion/everyone else that wanted to give Aegis points but couldn't because he resigned allowed to change their votes just for this occasion, or...?
Probably not; some people voted on the assumption that it was disqualified, and it should stay that way. If it means getting a lower seed, that's a consequence of bending the rules and trying to re-enter the contest like this.

Jousou Dystopia - Those crossovers were epic, especially the ones during the chorus utilizing freezes and the ones with jumps to straighten you back out. I had some serious fun here.
However, I am saddened that your doubles charts use almost all the same rhythms and patterns as singles. Try branching out a little and make them different! Every song has tons of potential for a bunch of different kinds of charts!

So I lost out on points because of the doubles charts? I don't see why there's a need to change them if they're still fun, unless you also have some suggestions on how to make them better?
Note to self: don't release double charts even if they're already done. This is a singles-only bracket, after all.

I see where you're coming from. 5 points is plenty either way then, I guess.
...huh. Didn't even notice Jousou Dystopia had doubles charts. Might as well try that and Never Too Late's. :P

Negative, I only had 15 points to give out and by the time I finished reviewing everything there were a few that stood out more than others, and then those that stood out above those. I gave you an honorable mention, and I assure you I didn't consider the doubles in my final judgement. I just pointed out the issue I had with them because I personally always make my doubles charts as different from the singles as I can. (50/75 *early* beta files in my category is evidence enough of that).
I am super happy you included doubles. Most people don't. It's a rather solid chart too, minus a couple of turns that I'd personally consider excessive, it's just not different enough from the singles for me to really enjoy it.
As for Aegis, I was going to give him a +2. Switching a whole bunch of people's votes may be more trouble than it's worth right now though - I'd say we all say "Hooray" that he's back in, and get ready for an AMAZING [Round 1].

I'll try to have some scribbles up soon...
30's Swing Tek- The footswitches in the heavy chart were interesting, and personally, easy to identify. I think that some of the standalone 16th notes in the challenge chart, though, should have been made into gallops to improve the flow.
Age Age Money- Fairly nice song and heavy chart, but I felt there were too many crossovers involving the up arrow. Also, standard chart was nice, but maybe could chave used the 16th note from measure 79, while challenge was overkill for me.
Ai de Kiru nan Itakunai!- Nice heavy chart, though if I have to be picky, I didn't enjoy too much the 8th note jacks and the rather frequent usage of the up-down-up-down pattern. Challenge chart was also nice.
Better When I'm Dancing- Nice air section in the standard chart! As for the heavy chart, I think it's more of the usual from you; very easy flowing steps with appropriate changes in body directions, though I thought that the refrain should have been more heavily stepped.
Blacksphere- Very smooth heavy and standard chart. Not much to say here.
CandYYYland- Good heavy chart, but the 12th jumps were unfitting in my opinion.
Debut- Nice BPM gimmicks and footswitches, but I wish you used the bassline from measures 33-41 for complex 16th patterns.
Electro Stomp- Nice chart and BPM gimmicks. Not much to say here.
Every Single Day- Not a bad chart, but I noticed that the player is made to face one direction too much, as well as the song cutting off abruptly. Plus, I think there was a doublestep there.
Feels Like Summer- A good chart, not much to say here.
Ground Shake- Good chart, but maybe some questionable patterns early on in the song.
Human Nature- I liked some of the spins, but other patterns were too confusing to not doublestep.
IRODORI- Another good chart, not much to say, though there were some easy doublesteps.
It's Only Hard the First Time- Cool decision to start off easy; the chart is good for what it is, but a challenge chart wouldn't be inappropriate.
Jousou dystopia- Nice song and chart, and kudos for making a good doubles chart. (OH, WHAT THE HECK, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO RELEASE ANY DOUBLES CHARTS ANYMORE!!! YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!!!)
Kakushinteki Metamaruphose- A very nice chart- though I personally think that the maybe a 4th-16th-8th pattern should have substituted for the freeze notes at the beginning.
Loveless- Some doublesteps, but otherwise not a bad chart.
Magikarp Festival- Good except for the speedup at the end; it probably would have been better to make the whole song 290 BPM if that's what you were going for.
Man of Mystery- Not a 10-footer in my opinion (more an X-Scale 13), but good job with stepping without filler notes and creating a interesting experience.
Miami- Could definitely use a harder chart, but still nice for what it is.
MilK-Nice chart, not much to say here.
Narcissus at Oasis- The beginning was stepped weirdly, but otherwise a nice, albeit conservative, chart.
Pure- A good chart, but maybe you could have gone more extreme with the 12th notes.

Oh, thanks for the words of encouragement, but just FYI, I likely won't have time to include doubles charts every single round. And even I completely forgot that Never Too Late had doubles charts too.

If you don't have time to create doubles charts, then that's fine. I just don't want you to purposely exclude doubles charts if you already have finished ones.

Alright, so now that that's done there are two steppers I wanna discuss with.
Braeden47 and SupremeX.
I see potential in you two, when I close my eyes and LISTEN to your charts in the assist clap, your rhythms seem spot on. I can envision you two getting more points than you do average. Unfortunately, you two have problem when it comes to patterning and that's what has been costing you guys points throughout contests.
Braeden47; You use... A LOT of LUDR or ULRD (facing left) patterns and barely any crossovers. Also, a doublestep slips into your charts every now and then.
SupremeX; Your patterns are nonsense and go into backwards facing sections and goofy spins.
It's pretty obvious you two are keyboard players. I myself am a keyboard player too but I know what to especially avoid, but you two have had consistent problems ever since I "met" you two and probably way before that. You have not figured out the biggest problems with your files.
To help with that, I've decided to completely repattern your heavy charts for the qualifiers and compare them with the official versions to maybe show you further what *mostly* everyone has been trying to tell you. (P.S.: hypnoticmarten77, usaminseijin, and JunkoXXX can also learn from this as I've noticed rank patterns from them too) I've taken the RHYTHMS you guys made and completely overhauled the patterns so that they flow much better, have *mostly* equal facing directions and crossovers, and just feel better to play. I compare my patterns with the original patterns in the video above. Here's what I strived to avoid.
Facing left syndrome
Facing left syndrome is used to describe a chart that has too many patterns that have you face front-left.
This alone isn't bad. The problem is when it takes up 80% of the chart, like this.

And it kinda gets boring pretty quickly. Throwing in brief facing right sections such as this;

Doesn't quite help if facing left STILL takes up 80% of the chart. It's even worse if there isn't even any crossovers (btw, NuVirus, this applies to you too, see Spork!'s notes) to at least change the orientation of the player in some sort of way. The pattern I showcase at 1:47 has an equal balance of left and right facing/crossovers and has a good feeling to it (btw, Telperion, does it remind you of anything? ;3).
(p.s. the same applies to facing right too much of the time too)
Poor patterns
Seems confusing at first, but poor patterns are patterns that, if you attempt to strictly alternate your feet, will make you face backwards and fuck over a (perfect) full combo. Such as this.

It may not be obvious to everyone. But this is pretty bad. Most people prefer to crossover everything (in other words, alternate their feet unless it comes to two specific arrows in a row/jacks like at 1:31) but not everyone will see this because they may not crossover and will step some arrows with the same foot in a row, doublestepping. Let's take away the ability to do that...

Ew. Slushier than snow in London. Of course, it's nothing some mirroring and swapped arrows can't fix.

See it? Doesn't it seem a lot better? And it never makes you face away from the screen. Some turns may be sharp but it works.
I will now present what might be considered doublesteps at first but really aren't. This is what I used to believe until I realized these are quite fun. As I said above, someone (NuVirus) did not use any in their charts and that might be why their file isn't doing as good even though there's technically nothing wrong with their file otherwise (except one doublestep in
...).

The green section is a single crossover. The cyan section is ALSO a crossover, just a little more fancy. It's commonly referred to as an "AFRONOVA walk" based on AFRONOVA's charts using these quite a lot. The orange section is a spin. If you look at the messy pattern above again, it has you face backwards for quite some time. A spin, while everyone might not do it, only has you face away from the screen for one note. It's best not to use them too often, though, and especially not as fast speeds (the simfile I used as a sandbox goes at 128 BPM, at, say, 190 BPM it gets kinda hard).
Playtest your files multiple times on index and even on pad (NOT spread!!). It'll be easy to identify bad patterns and chart errors.
If you two (and others that are having similar problems) experiment with it, you'll get what I mean. Hopefully I've managed to explain to you two what exactly facing left and double stepping is more clearly, especially with the examples I've provided. This also goes to everyone that is having similar problems, these two just stand out the most in that regard.

Here's a basic rule to see which way you'd be facing on a pad when you play index-style.
If you hit the down arrow with your left finger or the up arrow with your right finger, this is when you'd be facing left. (This is the natural position that people are comfortable with while playing on pad because the down arrow is to the left of the right arrow.)
Here's an example:

Likewise, if you hit the down arrow with your right finger or the up arrow with your left finger, this is when you'd be facing right.

When I'm testing out my file for double-steps and flow, I put the file on AutoPlay (by pressing F8) and pretend that I am playing it on a dance pad on the floor. However, you need decent experience playing on pad.
Also, playing index-style for testing pad charts is a must to get good files w/out double-steps. Playing other styles like spread do not account for which foot (or finger) players hit the arrow with.

Code-blocked it. I thought, in addition to the two I was directing the post to, it would be helpful to some other stepartists that are having the same problems, that's why I posted it publicly.

And he also gave +4 to Sig's file even though he wanted to give +2. (Sorry, Sig.)

Holy shit 50pts thanks so much!
(now I can request my own simfile category!!)
No but seriously, thanks! Before this, none of my files reached even 30 points, so that's pretty unbelievable.
You may want to set the bitrate so that the video doesn't end up being too big.
To code it in, add this line under #BGCHANGES in your SM/SSC so it looks like this:
#BGCHANGES:0.000=[Round 1] - spoon x fork.avi=1.000=1=0=0=StretchNoLoop====,
99999=-nosongbg-=1.000=0=0=0 // don't automatically add -songbackground-
;
If you add the movie through the editor (B key), that last line (and the semicolon I guess) will appear in the SM/SSC.
The marked part is the beat number. I don't recommend starting the video before the music. I'll let DDR Addict explain (thanks!):
Also, uhh... if there will be six byes in Round 1, will the brackets look like this? I'm trying to understand them.

Now for the fun part - I have my Week 1/2 file ready, but I feel a need to add the video. I just feel it would really add to the file. Anyone know of any good free software for making a cut happen and properly coding it in? I see a bunch of you include videos regularly and I just never taught myself that aspect of simming
I doubt I'll be including them a lot, so I would appreciate a few minutes of volunteered time if anything.
I use Windows Movie Maker. It's easy to use, not too technical, but there are no keys to help you go through the movie one frame at a time. You have to zoom in and just scrub it with the mouse. (I could use an app suggestion as well...)
You may want to set the bitrate so that the video doesn't end up being too big.
To code it in, add this line under #BGCHANGES in your SM/SSC so it looks like this:

I happened to notice you mentioning a problem you had in the chat where you would load a video, only for it to autocreate a background image that covers over the video, and you were stumped on what to do. Well, I've had that issue in the past, and I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is. Does your video perchance start well before the audio file itself? StepMania has a limit to how far before the song you can put it, or else it will create the problem you describe. Solutions are (a) increase the audio length by inserting empty space of the length needed to reach the video (and perhaps save it as a high quality OGG so you won't have to readjust the offset), or (b) cut the beginning of the video to a length at or closer to the audio than where the background's time is. Hope that helps!
Also, uhh... if there will be six byes in Round 1, will the brackets look like this? I'm trying to understand them.

option 1:
You know what I would do for the round 1? Instead of giving byes I would make normal 32-man elimination bracket with some small changes.
Instead of standard 1 - 32, 2 - 31 etc etc I would change it to be 1 - 30, 2-29 etc. and put places (31,max) into one group. On of those people from (31,max) would then move forward and be faced in round 2 vs winner of 1 and 30 matchup. Rest of table would go as planned.
option 2:
Give people from (32,max) 3 days to make a simfile. Give other people 3 days to vote. 1 person with most points goes forward as 32th seed.
option 3:
Let people from (32,max) decide who passes to round 1, give them 32th seed.

I like this plan, but that's because I want to participate in every round. Byes are great when there's money/prizes at stake, but this is for fun! It may make one really lopsided matchup, but it allows EVERYONE to participate in R1 and it allows the best of all the lowest seeds to continue as if nothing changed. Maybe let us choose our favorite two for that category since there'd be so many?
It's of course up to Pandy to decide. I'm not fighting the rules. Whatever happens happens
