*deletes previous post* (I wish I could delete my own posts, oh well.)

Anyway, after today's disastrous session I decided to quit pad play on ITG for good. The explanation will be at the end. (Y) Basically one of my pads died so I couldn't play doubles today. Sad

Achievements

No bar (well chair Tongue) scores
I was quite proud of this one. Smile

Nice.

My Pumas became so sticky EVERY time I hit the chorus of Destiny Lovers. Ffs!
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b82/Ali_R_In_Da_House_2010/ITG%20home%20pad%20scores%202011/screen00109.jpg

Knew I could pass it no bar but I wanted a good score. Stupid sticky pad.

Bar scores

Have done better before and even now I would've topped it had my CF behaved and stopped acting like glue. -_-

Sightread. Usual "stupid sticky pad ruined my score/nearly made me fail" statement
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b82/Ali_R_In_Da_House_2010/ITG%20home%20pad%20scores%202011/screen00112.jpg

What?! Even my first pass score was way better than this (it was like 80 something)
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b82/Ali_R_In_Da_House_2010/ITG%20home%20pad%20scores%202011/screen00113.jpg

I know I can pass this, stamina was definitely not a problem. Tongue

Took a couple of tries. Fun chart. Big Grin

Wellian's chart. I regret not picking a faster mod haha (song is 310BPM).

Sweet. The following shots are me trying to tristar it.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b82/Ali_R_In_Da_House_2010/ITG%20home%20pad%20scores%202011/screen00122.jpg

From this point onwards, I started playing in socks.

I WAS FOOKIN' RIPPED OFF! Honestly, this would've been my first tristar had I not got ripped off by my pad on a hold (recalc shows 99.00 exactly). -_- Looks like I'll never get it now... Cry
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b82/Ali_R_In_Da_House_2010/ITG%20home%20pad%20scores%202011/screen00128.jpg

I ragequit after getting this score. Just had enough to be perfectly honest.

Explanation

I thought the left arrow on P1 was stuck, since it kept triggering itself while I was in Test Input. So I cleaned it and left the screws a tad looser than normal to give it a bit of spring, so it doesn't feel "stuck". No improvement; in fact the CF I normally use for player 1 died on me. Game Controllers in Control Panel (I use XP) detected the pad, but nothing worked when I tested the input. Awesome. So I ended up using my second CF.

Now I felt a lot confident than I did previously, 11s were definitely within my reach today. However, there were a few problems:
- Despite a small table with lots of items being placed in front of the CF, the pad still moved, especially on tougher songs.
- My Pumas kept sticking to the pad. Sad I tried using water and kitchen spray as a lubricant, I got some results with the latter but I would have to keep applying it to make fast movements possible. It might have been the heat, but it wasn't that hot inside.
- In light of the aforementioned problem, I ended up playing in socks. CFs aren't that bouncy, in fact it felt like I was playing on a hard floor. -_- Now I can FA easy songs and could probably do harder songs if I wanted to since I can move around the pad faster, but the bloody thing won't stay still! So it's either whore easy songs until my 2nd CF dies or quit playing for good. Ended up doing the latter but I know that if someone's willing to help or I had access to a good machine this won't be a problem anymore. Smile

I don't do heel-toe or flat-foot or future, has anyone passed Summer ~Speedy Mix~ with a plain bar and toe style doing all the turns to hit the arrows?
Now I want to try this, haha. I think I could do it. Too bad I'm really far away from any ITG machines right now :/
I'll probably end up passing it that way because I can't heel-toe whatsoever er and don't plan on getting the technique down anytime sooner. I plan on just building up stamina to pass the over 13 songs

"I'm honestly pissed off."
@DancingNinja
Did you plug your CF in and use it while it was still wet, or did you dry it off first?
When I notice an arrow starting to stick because it doesn't have any spring in it anymore, I rebias it by bending it a bit with my hands and holding it that way for a bit. I typically bend it to form ~1/5th of a circle and hold it in that shape for 30 seconds.

I've seen people use Pine Sol on their shoes to make them less sticky on arcade pads. I get the same traction on CFs that I do on arcade pads, so that might work for you. Putting sweat on pads makes them more sticky.

Playing in socks is a mistake in the long term, you'll go through them rather fast even if you don't catch them on the screws. If you're going to play without shoes, then don't waste the socks and just play barefoot.

Playing barefoot no bar doesn't mean you have to give up 11s. I played that way for years and passed several 140 bpm custom 11s. It just makes the songs a little harder.

Oh, and you used to be able to delete your own posts, but then Al got irritated at some of my deletions.

Same. The best I can do is get half way on the 2nd death run.

@Kyzentun

Yeah that might explain it, but I usually dry it before I plug it in. Maybe I wasn't careful enough this time? Well worst happens and it's still dead, I'll try the penny mod and then Hellrazor's elaborate modding idea; I have nothing to lose so I might as well try it.

The odd thing is, at the arcade I never get this problem, the complete opposite happens instead; the pads are too slippery and I have to use water/fruit juice/whatever drink I have to prevent my session of ITG turning into amateur ice skating. Fun.

"Playing in socks is a mistake in the long term", try telling that to Happy Feet and CodX LOL. I normally play with my Pumas since I can feel where I am on the pad. That and my feet ache after playing barefoot/in socks, at least with trainers there's a degree of shock absorption.

I know it's possible to play barefoot no bar or socks no bar, but both are uncomfortable as hell haha.

"Al got irritated at some of my deletions." LOL really? Fair enough. XD

Didn't know I was talking to STsung. O_o

Anyway, I've decided to take a hiatus from dance games, my local arcade's pads (EuroMix 2) are getting worse and worse and you guys already know how wonderful my home setup is haha (well, minus my beautiful SM setup but I could do better if I could use my right index). Besides, even if things were going well on the dance game front, I sorely need a job to clear any debts as well as pay for things and I need to sort my life out in other areas as well; as fun as dance games can be they do not = life and you'd be a fool to believe that. On a positive note, I did a 3 mile jog this morning (30 mins 53 sec) and in the evening I did a 4 mile jog with my cousin (44 mins 43 sec). Life is pretty chill right now. Smile

You could have google "miles kilometers" lazy girl :p

This reminds me that i should work stamina outside itg (because if i want to play on it to work on this, i'll never improve) but i'm not motivated at all if i'm not playing the game Sad

I can cite an extreme example: Mad Matt doesn't really follow an exercise regime as such, he just plays lots of ITG and he can play lots of hard songs. Sure, he might cool down/warm up like everyone else but what I'm saying is, exercise outside ITG isn't compulsory to play harder stuff. The reason I do jogging is for fun, fitness, surviving 2012 if it does happen (LOL) and I'd love to run a half marathon if not a marathon this year. Smile ITG would interest me if I had a good set up, but since that's not happened, well I need other ways to stay fit. Tongue

Yeah, I am lazy Tongue
I do running sometimes when I´m bored..
I usually run 5km in 24-25 minutes
I would like to increase the distance to 10km but I`m so lazy...I need an accomplishments thread...everything else isn`t motivating enough... Laughing Out Loud

Damnit, really Lucie? I normally cover 3 miles in 30-35 mins, but I haven't really practised my speed, I've focused more on consistency; I'm better at lasting longer distances (5 miles/8km) than going faster over shorter distances. That and I have a breathing problem that cripples my ability quite badly; I can only breathe through one nostril at a time unless I hold my nose in a certain position, then I can breathe through both. Basically I need plastic surgery to breathe properly, otherwise I would gladly train each day.

But ya, it's really disheartening that the only people who are slower than I am are the elderly and my student; everyone is faster and better than I am it seems. -_-

I need to get back to running too. I do it mostly to keep my weight down, but it does help my stamina. I'm trying to improve my 1-mile time: 7min 3sec, my 3-mile: 23min, and my 6mile: 54min, but it's so hot out right now. I do better in the winter. Also my dad keeps telling me to get my 3-mile down to 18min which is what he got in the military. O_o

I also need to play some ITG this week seeing as I have been away from home for a week and only played DDR in the last 2 days.

@DancingNinja, you're probably better then a majority of the kids in my summer gym class. Our final exam was to beat our record time for running one mile and most of them walked instead or were slow enough to get it in 16 minutes.

@Margo: Really LOL? I thought I was bad, last time I did 1 mile I took about 7 minutes (this was 1-2 years ago). Glad to know that there are people worse than me, I'm so used to thinking I'm the worst haha.

Before I avoided long distance running like the plague, at school I only focused on 100m sprint and long jump. Nowadays, I prefer to focus on longer distances, but I've taken on board advice from my cousin to work on my speed as well; even though speed has always been my main strength I can't sustain said speed over a long distance yet. Can't wait to fix this. Smile

I'm a long distance person too.

Same with ITG, you are good at either stamina(being able to pass super-hard songs, but not get the best score) or timing(getting high scores on really easy stuff, but not passing hard songs). I've got better stamina then timing.

Same here. Smile Now if I could translate my jogging ability to ITG I wouldn't be so bad at harder stuff. Not that it matters since I've stopped playing.
