"Any pronouns necessary Smile"
Thanks. Now I know.
Back to bad stepcharts: OVERDOSER. I have mentioned I thought must CLUB VER. charts were pretty underwheling. This one os definitly no exception. There's barely any arrows outside of 1/4 beat timing, and the ones that are... let's just say I REALLY hate the jackhammers at the end.

Do IIDX charts count?

I present to you the only one where you could probably pass it by mashing all 7 buttons at the same time with one hand:

This song still doesn't sound like a 282 BPM song in the slightest; it's literally a 140-ish BPM song, but was coded to be double speed just to make it hard. XD

Just wanna quick put out a quick reminder that double-steps are absolutely not "wrong" or even "bad" by default.

I'm glad to see Trip Machine xac nanoglide mentioned a few pages back. I posted on the DDR Facebook page after playing the SHeavy (for the first time on a gold cab) saying I thought it has one of the worst stepcharts. I got responses telling me I just don't like it because it was too hard for me. No, I don't like it because it's fucking garbage, with a mixture of doublesteps and freeze arrows that ruin any chance the chart has to flow well. It gets a little better towards the end at least.

On YouTube, you called Daikenkai CDP an amazing chart. You called Blew My Mind EDP an amazing chart. You once wrote that ACE FOR ACES EDP is definitely one of the best 15s in the game. All of these has a part where you are forced to doublestep.

Clearly you don't actually look down on doublesteps all that much Tongue

What? I never wrote that on Youtube. You must be confusing me with someone else, because I hate Ace for Aces with all my soul :s

And I just watched both Daikenkai CDP and Blew my mind EDP and those charts have like just 1 doublestep. I'm obviously talking about chats that makes you constantly double-step, like End of the Century ESP, Daikenkai ESP/CSP, or A Geisha's Dream (Ruffage Remix)

In that case, I sincerely apologize. I retract what I wrote above. But yeah, do you really want to label 80% of the existing charts sll as worst?

No problem, my man.

And like I said before, I'm talking about chats that makes you constantly double-step. I can accept 1 or 2

Double-steps are sometimes the only thing that make a Singles chart particularly interesting.

How about Something Wonderful: Single Heavy? Jeez, could you put any more Freeze Arrows in that chart? Not that I hate Freeze Arrows, sometimes they're what make a stepchart fun, but they could've toned it down a couple notches, maybe put some real steps in there.

Well, if this thread's alive, I'll throw my hat(e) in the ring:

Charts that I admit are garbage but I still like for some reason:
ACE FOR ACES Heavy. It's a bad chart, and you should avoid it. I don't know why I find it playable. I just do.
PARANOiA Revolution Challenge: Treat this like learning a D19 instead of an S19, in terms of how much you're supposed to move your feet around, and how much you stay in any one position (which is to say, you don't). The spin section after the slowdown is honestly really sort of clever when you realize that basically every single pattern requires starting in the crossed over position, which then uncrosses and then crosses once again, which usually sets you up for the pattern after it. It's horrifically unintuitive, which is why it's bad, and one of these days I'll make a pattern guide for how to hit that section. It's honestly not as bad when you realize that that section is essentially a doubles chart that has both P1 and P2 pasted on top of each other.
EDIT: Pattern guide here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaxJA5fXQ04

At least these are funny:
Dead End "GROOVE RADAR" Special Challenge (which is its only difficulty, but whatever). Absolute worst chart ever made, but at least it's funny, and also watching the "methods" people come up with to hit the ""patterns"" (I use that word very loosely) is honestly hilarious imo, so at least it has that going for it.
Valkyrie Dimension Challenge is honestly comedy gold - the speedup is so hilariously random that at least I can laugh at how dumb it is. If you're learning this chart, I recommend bracket-mashing the hell out of it, because """methods""".

No Redeeming Qualities:
Unreal Heavy, but really all of its difficulties because the sync isn't
Pluto The First, which gets a special award for the fact that it's garbage scales throughout all of its charts - most garbage Challenge charts are just that, garbage Challenge charts, but they usually have good Heavy charts. PTF does not have this honor. On any of its charts.

I personally don't like any of the Pluto songs (except for Relinquish) because of all the unpredictable stops. I swear I still have to learn the timing because of the stops, and sometimes I just say "Screw It" and use Cmod. Same goes with CHAOS, of course.

Under The Sky Heavy was terrible. The entire chart was something you'd expect from a Standard license chart with the random stream lazily thrown in at the end. It would have been nice to use Ryu's mix instead and give it a nice Challenge, but that's my personal opinion.

Also, Leave Me Alone Heavy (SN2 CS license) deserved a better chart as well. It had so many opportunities for triplets or at least 16ths, but then again this was around the time period where Konami just went MEH with most of the license charts.

Yeah, the only thing I liked about Under The Sky Heavy was the ending stream. It's pretty fun. The rest of the chart is too easy. I get that you need easy charts for people to get used to the difficulty, but that stream works against that, because it can be a beginner's trap!

Also, is Leave Me Alone from Dancing Stage SN2, because I don't remember that song being in my copy of the game.

Thanks for letting me know. I just downloaded it into my DDR PS EXCLUSIVES folder.
Back to bad charts. It seems a lot of Challenge exclusive songs that were introduced in DDRMAX2 were sub-par. Great songs, bad charts, for the most part. I thought STILL IN MY HEART (MOMO MIX) was alright, though. Too bad it was never on an American PS2 release. (I don't have any ULTRAMIX games)
