It's as though the judgements are based purely on how far off you are from the target arrows; with the difficulty of getting a MARVELOUS/PERFECT increasing along with BPM.

In other words: The higher the BPM, the more strict the judgements will be.

I'm sure everyone's found the same ... shame on Konami for not coding this to have consistent timing windows regardless of BPM.

Getting a tie in a battle counts as a win.

how are the banners for those 3 songs?

They are 3 generic style banners with different color schemes.

Honestly I don't know why they don't use square banners/jackets, the Select Music screen would still look good with them in place.

A good alternative to traps is getting a PFC on a hard chart and setting it as your battle track, which pretty much means an opponent not only needs to use 3 crew members, but also FC the song to have any hope of winning.

True! Easier said than done with the sync issues (and my skill level), though :­p Or maybe I should set my battle track to one of those jukebeat songs no one will bother to unlock.

You could always take a gamble with MAX 300

Unfortunately, you can't set the jukebeat songs as your battle track. I just got lucky and got a PFC on a song on expert, so I set that as a battle track.
