While the European region getting jack squat!
Sounds about right.
Also if Guitar Hero can handle Wii DLC almost perfectly for full length rock tracks (aside from song previews) I see no reason why Konami can't have downloadable songs for future Wii DDR games and allow you to stream the tracks directly off an SD card in-game.

I wonder what color scheme the PS3 pads are gonna be?
OMG!
What if the arrows on the pad look like the DDR X dedicab arrows?!
THAT WOULD BE TOTALLY WICKED!

I'm assuming that the DDR X PS2 bundle mat looked like the classic home pad (don't buy bundles anymore). Perhaps the next wave of home games will have an image change for the mat graphics.

All PS2 bundles have the same pad since the PSone era with possible minor differences, namely the Konami logo on the pad, pad base, and the plug. I don't remember if it was slightly altered as I only bought the EX USA and EX2 bundles, which had the old Konami logo.Post #329 · Posted at 2009-05-21 09:22:10pm 16.1 years ago

On the subject of the dance mats although I wish I could use my padded ones for everything obviously they don't have connectors for the Wii's Gamecube ports. Mine is the sort with two cable ends, one being interchangeable. Off topic does anyone know if GC adaptors are available for that sort of mat at all? I can dig them out and give details and pictures if necessary.
I was decently impressed by the quality of the mat that came with my Hottest Party bundle, beats most Third Party mats hands down however, it's still too slippery for serious play. I've also just order Dancing Stage SuperNOVA 2 which I'm having to get as a game and mat bundle so I'll be looking forward to seeing what the look and quality of that pad is like.

Rock Band 2 on Wii uses a separate audio file for song previews even with DLC, so song previews are NOT a problem. Guitar Hero has song previews, but only when the DLC is on the Wii Memory for some unexplainable reason. (I know it can stream audio off of SD cards since that's how you playback AAC files on the system) Samba De Amigo does this as well, and their song packs are $5 with three songs each. Samba's music was about the same length as DDR so if they could do that, I know damn well Konami can with DDR. In fact, Samba was the primary reason I was amazed that HP2 didn't have DLC.

dude, they fit over 200 songs and game image on one CD (DDR Extreme anyone) With SD cards being well over 1Gig in size, there should be no reason they can't have DCL for the Wii, even with reduced audio quality.

You're not the only one! That song's chart kicks so much ass. Other cool Euro-version songs I'd like to see include Goody Two Shoes, Dip It Low, GOOD LUCK, and In The Middle. (That's another aspect to consider, btw, region-crossing songs! Gyoung Go, FACE, and GIMME GIMME for the win!)
I can understand them putting more *music* and/or BGA's on the disc (since that is the bulky-filesized part), then having the graphics (like banners) and stepcharts released as DLC as they're developed... that would make the most sense to me. In fact, they could always do something along the lines of X-Specials/SMM-Specials for songs already featured, as well.
Also, I would expect at least SOME intercompatibility with the newer-developing versions, like a few songs from each upcoming title available (like a mix preview), and either something like an Xmix or PowerMix, or a course that binds them on both versions. And by that, I mean each group of preview songs from each console's upcoming title be universal to the title, not console-specific.
(Using last year's releases as an example)
[BASE CAMP]
Slip Out
Taj He Spitz
Dance Celebration
SABER WING
[HOTTEST JAMS]
escape
Desert Journey
Racing With Time (NAOKI's 999 Remix)
KYOKA-SUIGETSU-ROW (DDR VERSION)
[HAPPY UNIVERSE] *Sorry, I don't know the Uni3 courses! Or I'd pick an official one. HP2, as far as I know, doesn't have them.

They should bring back preview songs like they do for IIDX and did for the PSOne games and for some of the PS2 games (DDRMAX and DDRMAX2).
On the subject of DDR Pads, I remember seeing most pads missing the buttons (triangle and square, I think) located on the lower right and lower left corners. Was that part of the changes they made along with the logo?

I think they made that change around 5thMix or DDRMAX (2001), and IIRC, the logo change was actually during Extreme 2/ULTRAMIX 3... so, 3rd/4th Q 2006?

I just have a feeling they will release some new PS3 ddr pad for this year's game...
...and i hope that it has the look of the DDR X metal AC pads
I'm a little lost, what do you guys mean by "previews"? Is it the previews of the song BEFORE you select it or is it something else?

As for me, previews for the next ddr game. Like how HVAM, Dive (More deep and deeper style) plus more songs were in 5th Mix CS despite debuting on DDRMAX.

We mean songs designed for upcoming mixes. For example, JP's DDRMAX 2 featured LOVE v SHINE, CRASH!, and PARANOiA Survivor, as well as the SOTA/SySF remixes of DROP THE BOMB, DYNAMITE RAVE, Do It Right, and Look To The Sky; which all corresponded with DDR EXTREME's arcade release.
What I'm talking about, is if this "Best Hits Vol. 1" contained a few songs (and courses) that each corresponded with the next main DDR (whatever it's called), UNIVERSE 4, and HOTTEST PARTY 3. ;)
(EDIT)
In fact, you might also consider that -OUR- DDRMAX 2 featured feeling of love, VANITY ANGEL, and xenon in much the same fashion. ;) DDRMAX also featured Spin the disc and Secret Rendezvous here, too.

Yes, i think previews for DDR -next-, HP3, and UNI4 would be nice to have on Vol. 1
