So Xmix2 is now available. Neat. Was that due to someone reaching a certain enjoy level or was it just "OK, it's open now!" sort of situation? And is it the only "NEW SONG" right now or did I miss one?

It's a timed unlock. And I believe it's the only e-amusement unlock so far, aside from the unlockable challenge charts for Sunkiss Drop, Freeway Shuffle, and Raspberry Heart.

Character's and accessories are unlocked through enjoy levels. From what I know, the only unlockable characters are PiX and the old style characters from 1st mix.

I'm pretty sure that Queen Zukin and Concent III are in the AC version. Afro and Lady are the only 1st mix characters so far.

This page on bemaniwiki has a table of all the character unlocks and stuff. Though it's in japanese so you'll need to use a translator.

Ok, I really have to take issue with some of these ratings.

S-A-G-A SP EXP

13? That's a bit inflated. Sure the speed up to 244BPM gets pretty nasty, but the other parts are pretty easy compared to other 13s like HVAM. A 12 would be better suited.

Malacca, TimeHollow SP EXP

10s. Really? We're supposed to believe that both these songs match the difficulty of songs like Flourish and Ticket to Bombay? Both of these should be knocked down to 8.

木星～組曲『惑星』より SP EXP

12? Haha, WOW. That's even more inflated than the SN2 rating! This is pretty much a 10.

SOUL CRASH SP EXP

A 13 again seems to exaggerate this song's difficulty. It's a heart-pounder, but not in an exotic ethnic kind of way. 12.

Pink Rose SP EXP

A 10 really understates this song's difficulty. It's not a particularly tough song, but I think an 11 would be a wiser choice.

GIRIGILI門前雀羅 SP EXP

The X US rating was better, this song feels more like an 11 than a 12.

Colors(for EXTREME) SP EXP

A 9? Really, this should at LEAST be a 10.

I think KONAMI don't have some exact parameters to judge the difficulty ratings...

It's odd how the aggregate community can agree on a rating but KONAMI can't seem to get some of these songs even marginally close to what most people agree they should be.

The location test ratings were actually, for the most part, much more accurate.

I don't think Konami even uses people who play DDR to rate their songs. But of course, there's always been big misratings through out DDR's history. Paranoia was a 9 at one point, End of Century and Drop Out were 8s, Burnin' the Floor was a 9, Witch Doctor was considered an 8 (though never rerated, 90% of DDR players agree it's a 9), So Deep was a 10, Sakura's Oni is a 10, Uranus's Oni is a 10.

I think with new songs, Konami may set a rating for the song before the charts are created and it's up to the charter to make a chart that's rated what they set.

For Malacca, I'd say 9 on Single and 8 on Double.

Some more:
.59 should be 10 on SP and 9 on DP, not 11 and 10.
A Love Like This should be 10, not 11.
Ain't No Mountain High Enough should be 8, not 9 or 10.
cachaca's 12 and 11 should be swapped.
Angelus, SUNKiSS DROP, CSFILSM, and Seduction AREN'T all the same difficulty.
13 for Mars War 3 and Nijiiro on DP is an exaggeration.
