well the expert is a good chart for a 13. But personally, I hope Flower has a hidden CHALLENGE chart.

STRONGLY wishing this to be very true. That song has a good potential to having a 15/16 Challenge chart no doubt Smile

Careful what you wish for. It could have shock arrows.

Doubles Charts just aren't what they used to be.

What do you feel is wrong with the new Double charts, and what's an example of how they should be? I'm serious, I want to know what people are looking for here since to me, anything I can play no-bar without spins is fine in my book.

QFT.

I haven't played much of the X doubles charts but most of the X2 doubles charts are superb (minus some stuff that appeared on HP3, roppongi I hate you). I've seen a lot of patterns almost never used in DDR before (leaving Challenge <3 <3 <3).

They used to be unique and different patterns, now they are almost always the single chart spread across two pads. There are a few good ones lately, but where is my genome screams, exotic ethnic, emotion, celebrate, etc?

The uniqueness of a song's doubles chart vs it's singles chart isn't as common as you might think. Most songs use similar rhythms with slight variations. 3 of the songs you quoated (Genom Screams, e-motion, Celebrate) all came from a time when there wasn't such a thing as Heavy/Maniac doubles charts. These songs got doubles charts in their appearance on Extreme (hence why they have freeze arrows and the other charts do not), thus an entirely different charting group created those compared to those who created the original charts.

They need to get rid of those -_-
I stole DDR X2 CS from the internet; it's my fault the music game genre is dying.

I thought Diamond Dust and Mermaid Girl had pretty good shock arrow charts.

They are getting much better with shock arrow charts but it seems like for every one that's good. There's three that suck. Confused

personally as far as shock arrow charts go, at least in Diamond Dust, it's an original chart with shock arrows. not copy paste of a certain difficulty's chart + add shock arrows = there's your challenge chart.

Yeah, well early on when shocks were introduced in DDR X, I believe it was largely experimental. Some worked, some didn't. When X2 set off, the quality noticeably got better in application, so I believe shock charts should get more love (if they are pulled off correctly, like smooochChallenge or memeshikuteChallenge., NOT like Pluto the FirstChallengeDead )

I honestly think shock arrows should have a separate difficulty called "Shock" or something along those lines, like how challenge is, because there arent shock charts for all of the songs, and it might avoid confusion for players between a "traditional" DDR challenge chart and a shock chart. .

I agree with this. It feels less like a lazy copy+paste when there is some thought put into the chart in regards to the shock arrows application to a certain song..

That's not entirely true, and where it is those unique patterns weren't always good. What I see is a handful of notable Double charts in each mix but with the X series, the rest of them have becoming increasingly more playable.

What about the doubles charts in X2 CS US? I found a lot of them to have awkward stepping and strange, if not painful pad-jumping. Not sure if they were experimenting with new patterns or the stepchart artists did not know how doubles charts flow...
