I wonder what Konami's definition of an "Expert player" is...

I got one of those e-mails too, it says you have to be able to play on Expert.

Do you just get the email if you have signed up for the event? I'm yet to receive one.... if that's the only qualification....

also, soul caliber=DDR? I'm specifically talking in terms of the DDR Xbox 360 data. Has it or has it not been ripped and extracted? I'm talking audio, steps, artwork, etc.

X360 data can be decrypted if that's what you're asking.

Basically that. I figured it varied game to game and was more getting at how/if the DDR data could be ripped and ported to Stepmania with minimal effort, but it looks like it can, thanks

i think you missed the point. your post said you have to pay to play them, but that isnt the case with on disc dlc if your xbox is modded. its the same way we played memories on extreme US back when it first came out.

also, its soulcalibur. like excalibur. when its spelled for you, how do you miss that up?

edit- also, multiple games have had the data extracted, but i dont know how much can be. i know soulcalibur and street fighter IV had the models extracted, thats how darth vader was found, and dee jay and t.hawk had unfinished data. i cant give other examples though because if it doesnt involve a joy stick or dance pad i dont play it.

I meant you would have to pay to get the dlc to work on disc to step the files had it not been rip-able, I didn't know whether or not 360 DDR games had been cracked until Al clarified.

For anyone going to this, can you tell a Konami rep that they should release the next Wii game as a standalone title. I think that detracts from potential sales when you can't just buy the game. I dont mind the PS3 one coming out as a bundle though, since it'll come with a PS3 pad.

I got the same e-mail, it's not actually from Konami, it's from a third-party marketing firm. I dunno how they got my e-mail address though.

no, neodude, you wouldnt have to pay. if you have a modded xbox you just have to change some values and any on disc dlc can be used without purchasing it. thats why i used the darth vader in soulcalibur example. people with modded xboxes were using a paid dlc character for free before he was available on the marketplace. if more hackers were into ddr we would see people doing the same with dlc. there were videos of him vs yoda on youtube, yoda was "exclusive" to xbox while vader was "exclusive" to ps3.

Never mind that I had already said you could about a page and a half ago... And Al reaffirmed it. If you two hadn't been blanketing this thread with text about the finer points of data manipulation you might have seen it.
