Same here, I want to know, so I put "Please rate, comment and critique" so that I know if people that are downloading them are actually playing them, and see how they can improve my simfile making if it needs it.

It is perfectly natural for people to feel insecure about the things they do, such as making simfiles or uploading youtube videos. I got used to dealing with the insecurity as it only makes me paranoid about something inane.
Don't worry about such things and find a way to cope with it. If you can waste your time and energy thinking about that, you can easily use that to make more of what you do.

That is the main issue on this site's simfile discussion. The forum has threads of people's category but there's hardly any criticism involved. This is one reason why I haven't been updating my category. I don't have time to work on them any more and there isn't any motivator for me to work on them. I'm pretty sure if people nagged me about my files, I would improve and/or resume updating.
And though a person may say that they'll take the criticism into consideration, we all know that they'll hold a grudge on the person because it's something that you put effort in only to have someone point out a flaw.
tl;dr: pride is why people don't take criticism or advice on this site and it's a freaking shame. There's too much crap simfiles here with only a handful of categories that are worth looking through.
Edit: next time, I'll edit instead of typing on the reply box to have it append to my message hehe. I hope you know I'm joking too with the fucking

I hate criticism too. I also don't much like giving it, but sometimes I just have to say that something plainly sucks.

I see r21freak as a much better community for learning to make simfiles and getting feedback on them.
The only downside for the step artists here is that r21freak is composed of players who effectively never play anything below a 9, and mostly consider 9s to be too boring to be worth playing. Anything that doesn't have a step on every note of the music in the
chart is considered a dissappointment.Honestly, I'd like to have a solid community of critiquing simfiles here, but I don't feel like enough people here actaully have any means to pad their simfiles for it to be feasible.
