Making good progress on the simfiles, I'll make a WIP folder tonight. Should be complete by this weekend.

Speaking of simfiles, wouldn't it be a good idea to find cleaner MP3s of the licenses since they wouldn't need to be cut?Post #3183 · Posted at 2011-10-13 02:16:27am 14 years ago

I asked this at the wrong time earlier, when the thread had about 7 replied every second so my question never got answered but I was wondering, do the Repicant-D-Action songs eventually get put onto the normal song selection?
I would also like this to be answered.Post #3188 · Posted at 2011-10-13 02:44:24am 14 years ago

Yes. After you unlock all of the crossover songs, you will need to unlock the RDA songs for the normal song selection. After that will be your 4 megamixes

Well, you also like CRAZY LOVE's chart.

Well, I haven't unlocked everything yet, but already this game has shaped up to be a major disappointment for me. ._.; A monumental disappointment. Compared to how much I enjoyed unlocking stuff on DDR Wii 2020, this game is just a chore for unlocking stuff.
The only RDA songs I like is UNBELIEVABLE, LondonEVOLVED, Shiny World, Valkyrie Dimension, and POSSESSION. But all of them are insanely hard for me. If VD wasn't so fun to try, I'd hate that song too. D8; There's no reason for BASIC to be too hard to step to, even with a controller! And why can't RDA be available and STAY available? It's annoying to go turn my speed mods off and then go turning them back on. ._. Is there a good reason for these songs to go 5 million beats a minute? Yeesh...
Characters. Something that means a lot to me, however silly other fans might find it, also are a severe disappointment this time around. The X2 characters seem sloppily made! Like their heads are too small for their bodies, an odd reverse from HP1-3, where heads were bigger. o_o; Compared to how great the characters looked in the previous game...it's just awful. They didn't care at all about quality, it feels like. Which is a shame, because characters help put life into the game. I was prepared to accept the X2 characters, until seeing how awful they were made. The Bemani Trio are the only characters that look good, because, ooh look, they're copy-paste from last years game! That's NOT lazy at all!
Seriously, if they were gonna copypasta the Bemani Trio, why not bring back the REAL Wii characters, instead of these mutant X2 characters? D8; Or at least have ALL the X2 characters instead of...Oh wait, it would be too much effort wouldn't it? Why bother to make this game look good? It's not like anyone cares for the quality of how this game looks aesthetically. Let's copy-paste stuff from the previous game! LondonEVOLVED doesn't need it's own lovely tunnel! And while we're at it, let's use last year's backgrounds too! So lazy. Ugh.
Long versions are the reason for this, I believe. ._. I hate those so much now. They are an even worse chore than unlocking stuff in this game. I seriously hope long versions are GONE next time around, otherwise the new motto for DDR will become "We prefer Quantity over Quality!". I haven't listened to all the KOs yet, and I can't remember which is old and which is new, so I can't make a fair opinion of those yet. But I know I prefer last years KOs for sure. ._.
Huh, Mii characters this time around. They'd be perfect if their heads were shiny, too. o_o It's quite jarring, especially when using a dark-skinned Mii. I don't notice it too much with a lighter-skinned AND lighter-haired Mii, but even then it's quite obvious. At least Mii outfits got more varieties for "Body A" and "Body B". Nice touch there.
Buh. While I'm back on characters and recolors... The recolors of the X2 characters are hideous. D8; The only ones that look good are Rage's and Rena's. With Afro, there's barely a difference, and Emi and Ruby got handed the ugliest shade of green/yellow ever; while Yuni had a bright red-orange dress and NO Glasses. ._. Really? Why bother to include the characters if you were going to utterly destroy their looks? It's not like anyone likes them or anything! Ohh noo, of course, DDR is ONLY about music and stepcharts! It has to be boring and ugly! .-.
No Wii Balance Board mode is quite sad. And I don't see anywhere to use hands either. D8; And there's not even ONE new routine in this game, anywhere, from what I've seen so far. Even the EVOLVED song got shafted. I see moves from MUSIC FIT's routines (Sunao Ni Nare Tara, CATS EYE, and Butterfly), which surprised me a little that a US game got their hands on those routines. But it's not enough to make up for how awful the characters and aesthetics are in this game. ._. You do not abuse the air guitar when there is no guitar anywhere.
I'm not a hardcore DDR fan in the slightest, so charts and whatever else mean nothing to me. I don't care how they flow as long as I find it fun, and I did find some of them fun. I haven't tried doubles yet.Has anyone figured out how to do doubles with a controller? I'm glad we have a lot of spare pads at home. D8 Hopefully it's actually gonna be as fun as I hope it will.
.......hahah. Long post is very long. And ranty. 8D; But there...there's my overall first impression of the game. I'm halfway through unlocking stuff I believe, if my DDR Points are any indication. Maybe I'll be surprised later on? I doubt it, but one can hope. This game gets a 6/10 for me, in the humble opinion of a casual DDR player. o_o;

I'm sorry, but even I, Aegis, have come to like the game and even given it a 7/10.
A 6/10 is a slap in the face.
edit: Fairy Red, a lot which you have typed up is very...very...wrong.

Maybe, but it doesn't change how I feel about the game. D8; If it LOOKED good as good as it's music/charts/etc were, I'd be much warmer to this game.

Maybe, but that doesn't mean the game should be lazy or look bad in everything else. >> A game should look good, too. I'd never be half as interested in DDR if they didn't have great character designs, so seeing them look and be treated this awful in this game is just sad.

I hate the BPM of some of those songs as well. I'd much rather the BPMs were halved, to make them easier to read for people who are used to playing low-speed mods.
I like the way RDA comes and goes, though. It sort of emulates the old arcade etiquete, where you'd play 4 "fun" songs, and then on the final stage, go for something insane, knowing you've already got your money's worth. You unlock all those songs for normal play at the end of the game anyway. RDA is just a cool way of teasing you, and introducing a consequence for failing them.

I thought Emi looked ok, the HP characters look great, and the rest just look weird :{

The Long Versions are really great for players like me, who can comfortably AA all of the 15-footers, but stand no chance of being able to play the 18s. It's another extra dimension to the game, where you can play a song that test your stamina, without it also testing your step-reading and body contortion.
My only complaint is that you have to go through all the licenses twice to fill up the pass lamps. If you want to AAA them all, that's playing each license 8 times, and black-flagging a Basic song 4 minutes into it is going to be frustrating as hell :{
I'm really sorry they took so much of what you liked about Hottest Party, and threw it away because the majority of people thought those things were unecessary. It sucks that you can't find a way to enjoy it, because it's really a great game. It's just very, very "old-school" in both the way it works, and the way the charts are written.

Since HP2, actually. It's not the tunnel I have problems with, it's the recycling. And the tunnel in this game is the exact same one from Wii 2010. And some of the routine backgrounds used backgrounds from Wii 2010. Did you play that game? You wouldn't say that if you did. D8

Help because I actually care more for aesthetics than the actual game?? OH POOR ME.
In 2010, The A and B outfits only had 5 sets to choose from, the same ones from HP3. This game added a few more, so now there's like 9 or 10 of them to choose from for mixing and matching.

If you do not care about flow or any of the aesthetics that make a good step chart, then you need to consider Beginner and just free-style.
I do like free-styling and imitating the dancers on screen. And Beginner isn't as fun as Difficult, which is about where my "level" would be on a good day. 8 Difficult and 7 Expert are about what I can handle. I don't need to know about what makes a "good" chart to play this game.
