I hope KONAMI, especially Stillwind Borenstein, takes a serious look at those rankings and notices that no, these commissions are not as popular as BEMANI originals. A paltry two of the commissions appear (Flourish is not commission). As expected, Japanese licenses are popular in Japan, but I also hope they see how popular the Dancemania revivals are, along with similar fare such as Koko Soko.
Because people for some reason have this preconceived notion that "Ultramix artists" don't belong on "regular" DDR. The appeal of Dancemania and Japanese licenses don't go very deep, you know.

There's nothing wrong with "Ultramix artists" in AC DDR, but when that's ALL THERE IS, it becomes a problem.

Indeed, to follow up on Pie's point, I'm not saying can them; for the record, I'm all for bringing back Jena Rose and Bill Hamel (though please, in a reduced capacity, X has too much Hamel). They have a unique sound I would love to see in DDR. But, these artists cannot replace the sounds NAOKI, jun, U1, and everyone else on board the BEMANI train.

These artists are used to making club songs, and the like. A sound needed on DDR to be sure, but only the BEMANI crew really knows how to make "game songs" like Saturn and Uranus that would never be composed outside of BEMANI, but are so incredibly fitting for DDR. We'll never see Bill Hamel creating the next Pluto, and it's that magic that I so dearly miss.

And...song ranking update!

6. Pluto Relinquish / 2MB

I wonder how many people played this because they couldn't be bothered with Extra Stage in SN2.

Uh NO ONE, because it is still a very difficult song. Every SN2 machine in Japan should have this unlocked.

I forgot that the song didn't stay as Extra stage exclusive. But why would people play that boss so much compared to the other ones? I can only think that it's because of the easy first 3/4 of the song, since I'm pretty sure that it would be difficult to AA for the other ES/EES songs compared to other ones like maybe TMP or the original MAXes.
IIDX Rank: SP 九段 (7/8)/ DP 七段 (5/8); 1P Side player
SP 11* Clears: 132/150 (88.00%); 12* Clears: 23/96 (23.96%)
Has access to CS 9th-EMP+PB+US, uses extended KOCs.

Yeah, I hear "The Legend of Cutie Chaser Survivor Unlimited Maxx ~luv mix~ Rebirth" is really popular over there too.

I don't like Ultramix artists, period. Except a few, which were not on X, so it doesn't really matter.

In my eyes, no artists can replace the sounds of Naoki, dj TAKA and U1.

you're one of those idiots i argue with every time i go to the arcade about whether or not i was playing max300 super-max-me mix 4 years ago on ultramix 2, because you have NO FREAKING IDEA where like 70% of the "new" content on SN came from, arent you?

FWI, there is a shit ton of naoki, taka, and U1 in the ultramix titles. you probably enjoy the hell out of brilliant r-e-d dont you? most people at the arcade i go to love that song, they think its new to supernova, but it debuted on ultramix 3.

the majority of the ultramix titles are crossovers people have been begging for for years, so if you dont like ultramix artists, you dont like taka, naoki, akira yamaoka, tomosuke, or any other bemani artist.

as for them not being on X, the licensed artists are on there. horatio by or-if-is, feel by neuropa, make me cry by junk circuit, reach up and we come alive by alien six, and slip out by harmony machine are all songs by artists that made their DDR debuts in ultramix titles.

play an ultramix game THEN comment on what is and isnt in them, and whether or not those songs are present in X.

IMO we need more xbox content, including the universe games, in arcade DDR. its a travesty that i cant play tsugaru(or-if-is) mix without R21.

"artists" are referring to people actually making songs for the game, not crossover song artists. Until recently, there were not many Bemani artists actually making songs for the Xbox games. There was Togo and Naoki and that's about it. It wasn't until Universe 3 that we got originals by kors k, Ryu*, and the like.

We DID get a freak load of Ultramix in that run through. Love is Dreaminess, MAX 300 remix, Baile la Samba, Hit'n'Slap, Monkey Punk, and Midnight Special! Don't forget the earlier and later Ultramix love. Quickening, Sana Mollette ne Ente (BLT Style), Infinite Prayer, ABSOLUTE Cuff-N-Stuff It Mix, INSERTiON Machine Gun Kelly Mix, and KEEP ON MOVIN' DMX mix all in EXTREME 2, and Rainbow Flyer and OUTER LIMITS in SN2.

To tell the truth, Ultramix gets ALL of the awesome IIDX crossovers. Love Me Do remix? route 80s? RIDE ON THE LIGHT? TOE JAM? starmine? R10K? G2? Jelly Kiss remix? MUSIC TO YOUR HEAD? Guidecca? bit mania? Not to mention the crossovers from pop'n and GF/DM!

Also a vaild point because this problem has shown up time and time again when someone complains or makes a harsh statement without prior knowledge of the subject.

Strawman. This is not what he is arguing; you're (deliberately?) misconstruing his point.

P.S. What U1-ASAMi DDR debut material has been on an XBox DDR?

^this. if he meant something else, i dont see it. he says he doesnt like the artist of ultramix songs, how else can you take that? brilliant r-e-d is an ultramix song, its by naoki, therefore he doesnt like naoki. either he's never played them to know brilliant r-e-d is an ultramix song, or he lies about liking naoki... or atleast thats my train of thought.

as for U1 material, i consider the universe and ultramix series all as "xbox" material. its by the same team, after all. they are one in the same like the PS1 and PS2 games are. as such, midnite blaze remix from universe 3 immediately comes to mind, but to your point, until universe 3 there was no new U1 content, unless you want to count the make a jam remix, but he didnt remix the song so i dont.

toe jam was in UM2 well before it was in happy sky. i'm also pretty sure that the jelly kiss remix was also in UM3 before happy sky came out, but i'm not certain there. also, the love me do remix isnt a crossover, its a remix of a IIDX song just like the 250 BPM remix.

on the note of the 250 BPM remix, how can someone not like the jondi and spesh material?
