Despite what anyone says extreme is the favorite mix that people in the usa play (I own every single mix of ddr for the arcade that was released in the USA as an upgrade and some that weren't ) The owner of "a comic shop" wanted extreme...so I obliged him i would have much rather have put sn2 out there..

And this mentality right here silenttype01 is why Konami gave up on America. Good job.

No problem. Glad to help out where I can.

I would love to play on a SN2 again. There aren't any functioning ones down here in South Florida. Max2 would be better for me as I've never played on one

"Don't get depressed!"
There seems to be a little bit of hostility in this thread.

I don't think it's about the age of the mix as much as preference. ITG2 is not that much newer than Extreme. Personally, I love ITG, but for me it's not so much about the game/version/songs as much as it is about the social aspect of playing. As long as people were to come out and play again, I'd be happy.

If it were just about the songs, I'd stay home and play whatever songs I want, but the friendly rivalry (and even the unfriendly ones) was one of my biggest motivations to get better at the game.

I went and played a little on Saturday. The machine is nice, I just had a little problem with the screen glaring. Are the people who run the comic shop okay with people coming in just to play DDR? ...because to be honest, I felt a little awkward, haha.

Yeah believe me that's the idea they want people there to play...Infact they may even be expanding and tearing down the walls in the near future (to make a rocky's esque arcade).. Also ill see what i can do about the glare from the lights...one more thing there seems to be some confusion " a comic shop" and " geek easy" are in the same building and they are owned by the same person..The geek easy has really cheap food and they serve beer and host different events on week nights... Like for instance tonight i believe is trivia night ...

Okay so I know who are you no dice.

You should make some memory card edits.

So it's probably a good idea to stay up to date on their events to know when it's probably not a good idea to go play DDR. One of my friends' band is playing there either this Friday or next, and that would definitely not be a good time to try and play, haha.

How would I go about doing that? Would I need the PS2 version of Extreme or could I make them in Stepmania and have someone convert them?

You need any Japanese PSX/PS2 version of the game that has the song you want to make the edit. If you want to make a stepchart in Stepmania, I'm sure we can get together to convert it and so forth, but using a PlayStation to make the edit yourself would be the best bet, because you know it would be synced to the song correctly. Hit me up on Facebook and I can help you with this.

We can install edits via the operator menu, 2 edits per song. Have you played any of the ones we have on there so far? Also if you want to play there often enough, I can hook you up with some link data, so you can save your scores.

I don't even have a PS1 or 2 anymore, so that's out, haha. I think it would be too much trouble to be worth it for you, so I'll stick to what's on the machine for now. Any chance one of you guys could post a list of the songs that have edits, either here or on facebook?

If you ever decide to, it ought to be easy to find a PS2 and get a softmod disc set with the magic keys. I've been considering that, though I don't have interest in making mods. Evil Puppy

2014 is going to be awesome.

BTW: if there was an ITG2 machine at a Cici's on I-Drive, it's gone. Neither of the Cici's there have one now.

I don't have the list handy, but if you look near the banner, there should be a icon that shows there are edits to be chosen. Most of the IIDX songs should have an edit or two (including BMR stepcharts), and a bunch of the most famous DDR songs. I will be working to make sure every song has an edit at the end of the month.

An easier way would just be to get Free McBoot. I can make a memory card for anyone who wants one, and then use either HDLoader or modify the discs to boot in ESR directly, no swapping necessary.

Glad to have you on our hype train Bemani Dog.

If we could schedule a tournament, around mid to late January for Extreme, how many people would be interested?

I could give it a shot. You'll need to really tune your pads first, though. I was there today. Got a single full combo out of five games played. Also having it by that wall makes it awkward. I keep putting my hand up to keep from bumping into it, and I've become convinced that Batman painting is going to get a hand put through it one of these days. I knocked it off the wall three times.

The pads were also quite slick. I played five games on it, then went to D&B and hammered out a bunch of full combos there (though I was already a bit fatigued, so no improvements for the day).

the pads would only be slick if people are wearing shoes that have dirt on them when they come in..... windex and a paper towel is required to fix this problem

This doesn't even make sense. I could rarely full combo on D&B's X2 with the way those sensors went out weekly, and I could full combo on the worst condition Japanese pads.
