On X2 AC, you are given 4 lives on Extra Stage, no questions asked. Get 951,000 score, you still get 4 lives.
that's what I'm asking, it will be awesome if this standard ES system is going to be implemented.

This project may end up like the ITG series or DDRMAX 3. New themes, new songs and possibly new gameplay mechanics, with an actual unlock system.
But I do say, on a typical theme and simfile project, we just add them on our stepmania and all everything else is just what you set on the options.

some themes have their own options too. Example: moonlight (formerly dubaiOne), PIU Delta, optical, etc.

Yes we are going to implement all of those standard features in STARLIGHT since it's supposed to be as faithful to DDR as much as possible. My next DDR may not have RDa system but I'm not sure yet, it's too early to tell.

The screenshots look superb 
This theme... I can imagine it'll bring ALOT of people over to SM5 when this is released and spreads itself on the internet
I'd love to see what a 256×60 banner looks like in the song select screen btw.
That's one of the main things I'm curious about atm haha.

As for the banners, this is what I'm talking about. This is what will happen when you use a classic banner. It will be superimposed over a fallback album I made. The album banners for this theme will be in HD so it's higher than 256x256.

EDIT: Ok well, since the design of the entire theme has been pretty much finalized, I guess I can go ahead and explain my concepts for the whole thing.

Project: STARLIGHT
I've always loved space along with the natural beauty that comes from it. My favorite DDRs to date are the SN series because of their astronomical theme in both interface and songs. I used all of that to tie the theme together into the space integrated interface that I have now. Even though I thought only SN2 and X2 had an effect on how I'm making this, I ended up finding out that more and more DDRs started influencing the way I'm designing this, which is good since this a DDR faithful theme. All the elements within the theme are the way they are for a reason.
The logo was influenced by DDR EXTRA MIX's logo mostly because of the way the letters have elongated parts and a galactic background to make it pop out more. The name itself actually came from the 2009 remix of Look to the Sky from SYNTHESIZED -ReEdition-. "瞳は Starlight 映すから" is part of the lyrics for the song. LTTS was the very song I played in DDR years ago so I decided it would be appropriate to pay homage to my very first song.
This was inspired by both SN2 (the sprocket and space) and X2 (flourishes and ripples) I removed references to KONAMI since they have nothing to do with it. Same goes for the CAUTION screen only colors are modified.

This was the hardest part of the entire thing. The main attract screen would set up what the rest of the theme would look like so this was crucial. I love the waves that X2 introduced so I decided to use those but instead of using two solid waves, I used one cerulean gradient wave and one glowing violet/magenta wave(resembling Infrared waves). The falling stars replaced the bubbles from X2 so the whole thing would make it feel like you're dancing throughout the universe under the stars and galaxies.

This is trying to follow the arcade instead of just having SM list the modes for you. Each tab is arranged in a particular way. If you look at their placement, the tabs for a five pointed star.


Another super crucial screen. This went through the most revisions and X3's interface came at a great time to help me with the BPM label and song title box. I brought back the equalizer bars on the side from SN2 to make it look more flashy. X2's soft gray and white gradients were nice but it looked like smoothed out metal and I needed something more than that for this so I got images of galaxies and nebulas for the tables used throughout the theme. The timer is basically an eclipse animation.

Alot of SN2 elements present here and I turned the combo ring into a sun/star design to tie in the theme a bit more.

Another hard part. I combined elements from SN, SN2, and X2 for this one. The techno styled ornaments on the side are taken from SN with a little twist from yours truly.

SN2 had some of the best fonts for displaying during main gameplay so I decided to reuse that but add a bit of X2's flare to it to make it pop out. SN and SN2's influence is also present alot here.

The beautiful STARLIGHT DRIVE interface. I took the main interface and basically inverted it. I didnt want to directly follow Replicant D-action by making it dark magenta so I added some contrast with the blue glowing wave(now symbolizing ultraviolet instead of Infrared). Since this is the special part of the whole project, I added a few more details to it.

The end result is DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION STARLIGHT, one that will be on par in quality with Konami's own creation. I hope to make this a huge success and thank everyone for already having faith that the entire thing is going to be one of the best out there. STARLIGHT is also a special gift I also wanted to give to everyone as part of me celebrating five year anniversary here at Zenius.
