Uploading my last sim for this week's. It's Disabled the FLAW. I know someone else already did it, but I just love that song so much.

EDIT: Done all of my judging.

If possible, try not to take offense, and for some, I just couldn't really say anything about.

8.4 \\A//
Good chart, but it didn't felt off.
Standard chart didn't feel like a 7 most of the way through, but was good.
Good Heavy chart, although I didn't get the short freezes at the beginning.

8.9 \\A Brighter Day//
Good Basic Chart.
Good Standard Chart.
Good Heavy Chart.
Challenge chart just seemed a little off some how. It might be the lack of me playing/hearing the song though.

7.3 \\Balalaika, Carried With The Wind//
Basic chart was kind of boring.
Standard chart was kinda boring, less than the basic chart.
Heavy chart was kinda boring, less than the Standard chart.
Good Challenge chart.

7.6 \\Beginning of the End//
Pretty good Basic 6, especially considering how some Konami 6's are hard to distinguish between a normal 5 or an easy 6...
I found the Medium chart to be quite overwhelming for a medium chart, mainly because of the 16th runs.
Quite a lack of consistancy for rhythm, but also, it was more of an 11.
Alright Challenge chart. Lost entertainment value when there was a long run of 16th triplets.

Hands on a Basic 4? Just no. If those Hands were jumps or single notes, it would've been alright. This is even worse because there wasn't any hands on the Standard chart.

From th slow down on, Good Challenge chart. Before the slow down, meh.

Good Basic chart.
Standard chart was too repetitive, other than the chorus.

9.1 \\Freeway Shuffle//
Good Basic chart.

Great Heavy chart. (PFC'd first play btw.)

8.6 \\Hero (2008 X-Edit)//
Good Basic chart, although it felt like you were facing the Up/Left corner quite a bit in the beginning.
Good Standard chart, although I think that quite a few of those freeze notes could be longer so that it's possible to get an N.G.
Good Heavy chart, but there were quite a few unnecessary notes IMO, mostly the 16th notes. I kinda liked the short 32nd trills though.

8.5 \\High School Love//
Good Basic chart. The 8th run might've been a bit to hard for a 4 chart though.
Good Standard chart. Something off though, not sure what.
Beginning of the Heavy chart was kind of meh for me (just a couple bars or so), but the rest was pertty good.

8.2 \\Just Dance//
Good Basic chart.
Good Standard chart.
Good Heavy chart.

8.8 \\Koko Soko//
Good Basic chart.
Standard chart needed more manouverability at the beginning.
Great Heavy chart.

8.9 \\Matsuri Japan (From Nonstop Megamix)//
Good Basic chart. I know it's a 2, alternating ^v / <> jump every bar in that one section kinda turned me off.
Great Standard chart. (seriously never thought I'd get that good of a 3!)

9.0 \\Outer Limits//
Song kinda lost it's feel IMO with the flat BPM throughout the song.
Good Basic chart.
Great Standard chart.
Great Heavy chart, other than the 4jacks at the beginning.
Good Challenge chart. Felt too much like the Heavy chart.

8.6 \\Ready Steady Go//
Good Basic chart. Although I wish you did what you did for the last couple bars at the first time that part plays in the song.
Good Standard chart.
Good Heavy Chart.

7.4 \\Rock Beat//
Basic chart was too easy for a 4.
Nothing complex about the Standard chart, kinda easy.
Same thing for Heavy as for the Standard chart.

7.3 \\Saber Wing//
Good Basic chart. A little boring.
Good Standrad chart. Again, a little boring.
The Heavy chart started kinda bad, then better, then back to bad, then better, and it did that pretty much the entire song.
Good Challenge chart. Better than your basic standard and heavy.

6.9 \\Shades of Grey//
Good Basic chart, but I didn't get the ending...
I didn't get why there were some freeze notes in some places, and some were shorter than others in the Standard chart.
Good Heavy chart.
I didn't get those three random freezes at the start, I didn't get why there were some double steps, and I saw the copy/paste job.

8.5 \\Smoke//
Good Basic chart.
Good Standard chart.
Good Heavy chart.

7.3 \\Stomp to my beat//
That was easily an easy 5, rather than a 3 of any kind.
Fairly good Standard chart, kind of easy though. If it weren't for the "8th 8th jump"s, I probably would've said that it was a 6.
I think I know what you were going for in the Heavy chart, but there were quite a few times that the beats were not where you think they might've been.

8.7 \\Unreal//
Thank you for not putting so many jumps in the song that your knees would snap.
Although it was a good basic chart, 8th jumps aren't really 5 difficulty quality at 180 BPM.

7.5 \\Uranus//
Good Basic chart.

Pretty bad Expert chart actually. The 32nd skips at the end were probably the worst thought, since they weren't all the same rhythm.

8.8 \\Why Not//
Good Basic chart. Didn't exactly need the 6 down, then later 6 left notes in a row though.

Good Heavy chart.

6.0 \\Xepher//
Didn't expect the first slow down, especially since the display BPM was only 170, but after that, slow downs were quite predictable, but nicely placed.
Ending was fairly offsync. I didn't expect that to happen at all, considering that you just re-step the charts and add BPM changes, more likely a multiple or a divsion of the original BPM.
Basic chart was a little easy for a 4. I probably would've rated it a 3, but that's just my opinion.
Good Standard chart.
I didn't get why in the heavy chart, it went from 16th skips to one note every 3 16ths. It was a weird change of pattern.
Expert chart was alright, although I think it would've been more a 12 due to the BPM of the song. In my POV, it was harder than Energizer Expert (ITG2).

That's alright, I re-uploaded it.
The same problem actually happened earlier, and I thought that I solved it so I didn't mention it. Guess I didn't. >_>
But really, everything's alright now I believe. All my files are back up and everything. The main reason why I didn't put my name next to the simfile was because for people like pie, for biasing and stuff.

EDIT: Oh hey, does "Dream A Dream (X-2008 Edit)" count, because it wasn't actually in DDR.

Didn't like the 8th length freezes on the Basic chart.
Good Standard chart, but again with the 8th length freezes.
Heavy chart was more of a 9, and yet again with those 8th length freezes... But why are there 16th and short length now?
Challenge chart was more of a 10, and even yet again with those 8th legnth and shorter freezes.

Good Heavy chart, but I didn't like it for some reason. Can't tell why really.

I'm surprised on the Silent Hill one. I actually did the Basic and Standard steps really quick. It's an older file i've had tucked away and I just had the Heavy chart done (which was Challenge originally and the only stepchart in the whole file...which is why I had the 500 part). For whatever reason Aaron's Party got lost on my laptop when I transferred it over to the bro's laptop to check out, so I submitted this real quick last night to get a song into the contest even if it wasn't made for the contest. I literally did a one-pass on the Basic and Standard steps then ran through it again to make sure nothing sounded too offbeat.

As for Aaron's Party...yeah, it was somewhat meant as a joke file in a way (not in the steps, mind you). I've joked with my brother that I was gonna do it someday, then this came up and I decided "...yep, it's time". I was gonna do it for April Fools and make the steps complete B.S. (we try to do an April Fools file every year...mine last year was a Groove Radar Challenge version of Let Them Move).

I already got a couple set for the videogame one. Again, another older one i've had tucked away (a Startropics remix) and a Megaman 10 remix I haven't done steps for yet.

Sirius critique coming soon after viewing 35-something sims thoroughly.

bah, I had a file ready but for some stupid Windows has taken the files hostage and won't let me have access to them anymore. Serious wtf. Oh well, I'll get the next one.

Downloading the pack is driving me crazy.

I had only one "Disabled the FLAW" even there is 2 differents files.
"Beginning of the end" is empty (if you download the file only, you have it. But not by downloading the entire pack).
Some files are in double. After delete those files, some songs are still missings.
(lastest files are not in the pack it seems like my "All Good Things").

Can you fix that Pandemonium X or it's a website issue ?

I think i'm gonna dl files one per one.
I'll do that later...

Regardless, I'd take a look at your simfile because it would suck to have to take the time to make a simfile for no one to look at it or not accept it.


A more serious critique

It was quite a long day and I was curious as to what the members of ZiV were going to pull out of their arses for this contest. To my disbelief - I bounced from heaven to hell and back with some of the files (cuz some of them got me to die a little inside), but by the end of 4 or so hours, I managed to check them all out and got to know the artists behind the simfiles just a little more seeing potential and more than just some 40 simfiles. On my epic journey to find out the best simfile, Aegis set the modifiers to 2x-3x and metal (itg arrow skin) so Aegis can manage to view them all. Before the halfway marker through hell, I dropped viewing every single chart like Novice or Light or Standard because the simfile artists just copy pasted. With that, I just stopped looking because of their decision.

Note: I did not see who made the simfiles before jotting the information I needed. The artists were revealed to me when I was typing this huge post.

First up was a simfile by our beloved Pandy (Pandemonium X).
A by D.J. Amuro

I downloaded the simfile and thought, "this song is awesome, therefore the chart will be awesome".
Little did silly Aegis know that the simfile held something to disappoint.

Heavy Mode: The first arrows come up and I say to myself, "it is alright, there is little to work with in the beginning of this song anyway". A little more into the song and I find arrow placement to be some sort of issue. I'd be backwards in some instances and be spinning immediately after that! The ending approaches and I nearly faint. A (the song) is a great song and deserves a lot more than stepping that can result to misfortune. Giving the simfile some justice, I change it to Standard mode to see if there is something to salvage.

Standard Mode: To spare us some time to go walk our dog(s), I'll just say that the chart was not good.

Light Mode: Pointless freeze arrows and repeated notes here and there. A spin thrown in and that is the Light Chart. Not enjoyable.

I felt like leaving the sim to be deleted later on in the day, but Novice, in its lovely color, sprang out to me and made me play it.
It was just another novice chart.

My take on it: the official chart should be played.
Aaron's Party
Aaron is a kid who wants some money so decides that he should turn his crib into a cat house while his parents are away (forced away). So it's a cat house at Aaron's, come join the fun :3
Heavy: Safe for work.

Standard: gawd, the note placement looks too familiar...

A Brighter Day
I abused this song the day I got X2 and felt that a simfile for this song would add more notes and make a great sim...
I got this by TimeSpaceMage

Oni: Why didn't you carry the 16th arrow motif through out the song? (Not saying for you to abuse the power of adding 16ths but to leave them alone is another story) I saw the 16ths in the song and liked them, but when they weren't used in places they should have been used -let us just say I didn't like the 8th notes that replaced where the 16ths should have been.

Heavy: Played it 3 times and felt something was missing. Measure 37 for example-the notes should have been freeze arrows or jumps to emphasize the elements the song offered. Aside from small details like that around the song (measure 8 and 5, etc), it was all around an ok chart.

All Good Things (Come to an End)
One of the more enjoyable sims in the bunch...I was happy to see this.
Our simfile artist here was PanStyle just in case you were wondering (or weren't )

Oni: Chart is fine. That is all you readers really need to know. Though some parts could use tiny adjustments, the chart is ok.

Aegis hits F5 in Stepmania.
The Heavy Chart reveals itself...

To sum the thought I had:
It was like Faxx with its Heavy and Challenge charts.
After this incident, I only look up Heavy and Challenge charts in fear of what Light or Standard have to offer (copy paste).

I remember inputting the code to unlock things in DDR X (the cabinet).
It was a rainy day and a long one to. I felt pissed off and decided to play something.
The roulette chose this song and it caught me off guard. I liked it . The chart wasn't fascinating but the song was catchy.
*Aegis gets in the groove and stuff happens.*
So I download this simfile and get a hybrid of your chart and the one I remember playing that day...
Reminds me of Come Clean, but not entirely (not an insult).

It was ok.

Beginning of the End
Modifier to 3x and I play...
16th stream up my arse.
I'm not amused by this.

I go to the side of the artist and see that there isn't much to work with if it isn't 16th stream.
I leave, with memories of KoL.

Heavy: The chart was "ok" but I really want the people of ZiV to play the song and then prnt scrn measure 38 and frame it on a wall.

That is all I can say about the simfile without being redundant.

A jump or two with 8th streams along with a side of 4ths.
The beginning could use some work.
Some parts are fun and other parts are just dull.

The man was a genius and deserves to win for submitting the pinnacle...*continue sarcasm*

Sorry IIDXsucker8, but this simfile needs a lot of improvement.

I remember playing KoL's edit for this and fell somewhat in love.
It wasn't the pinnacle of simfile making but it was worth a look.

You fixed what DDR X2 fed us, but it isn't the best simfile out of the 40.

This simfile is so pro.
Like Just Dance, it was ok, but not the greatest simfile of the 40.

Measures 65-67 made me play it over and over again.
I'm a sucker for 4th repeated arrows :3

So after falling off my pad from playing silenttype01's file, I felt like giving this sim a chance but...
ugh, oh gawd, oh man, I just don't even, my goodness...

Aegis is slain.

The step artist must understand to make a simfile that they would enjoy.
I don't know what this one was thinking but he/she must understand the concept of a decent simfile.

Outer Limits
*Another flashback w/ Aegis*
As a kid, Aegis loved the song and played it at Max Volume and used the repeat function to have it play all day.
Aegis' wish for it to come into DDR came true one day only for Aegis to cry.
The bpm was over 300 and the chart was ridiculous.

This simfile came and Aegis saw 171bpm.
The chart though wasn't awesome, but it wasn't like Max 300 (the edit).
It was bearable to say the least.

Pluto Relinquished
I am hurtin'.
Nothing can tell me to give this step artist another chance unless he/she says please and asks for forgiveness for their sins.

Ragganinja
This simfile has much more potential than some others...

The oni shouldn't exist. The 16ths are more of eye sores than actual notes.
Moving on to Heavy, I see a copy paste.

Oni: I believe those 12th notes are wrong.
I know what you were going for and it would have been great, but it is off. Put Assist Tick/ Clap on and you'll see.

Heavy: I feel that there was something in Measures 25-32 but it was moved or changed. I think you should take a look at that.

Scorching Moon
I felt in the groove again and felt a 'gasm, but it was gone halfway through the song...
Aegis got a little bored, but I understand, there is little to work with there. It's ok.

Silent Hill
I had a ball here...
Heavy: Mines should cease to exist. I didn't enjoy the bpm changes. The chart wasn't done so well, imo.

Shades of Grey
Oni: the 8th stream bore the hell out of me. The 16ths woke me up, but then the 8th stream had me drown.

Well, you fixed the issue of Konami's jumping syndrome, but you also gave an ok chart and not an awesome chart.
Like Cut from the original chart, I feel something is missing, but can't put my finger as to what.

Uranus
Oni: It's the Original chart with 16th notes flying across the sim.
-I fail to hear some of the 16ths (Ex: Measure 43.)
-The end freeze arrow should either become solid notes or become extended freeze arrows by 2 measures or so.
-I'm not happy with the 192nd notes there (Throws off and isn't truly on-sync unless you increase the bpm by math and then decrease it by math)

Why Not
I was not entertained with the 8th streams and somewhat close copy of the official DDR chart.
Aegis was not sold.

-After all that, I was surprised you didn't do the 16th stream in measure 41 1/2 -> 46.
-The bpm changes aren't horrendous, but I didn't like them.

Heavy:
-I'll scan my sheet later on what I wrote about this one.

WEEK 2 WAS STARTED This week is "Video Game Remix": Find a remix of your favorite video game. It MUST be a remix, and and can't be DDR related.

I know this week seemed very chaotic, but once we start to get in the routine of things, it should run smoothly.

THE THEME FOR WEEK 3 WILL BE... 80s!
