If they named it 'Tap Tap Revolution', people who play 'Tap Tap Revenge' will be all like "omg they're ripping off Tapulous!!11"

^ This. Even though the idea in the first place is highly unoriginal.

Good Point. & I thought I heard about a TapTap Something from somewhere
I just couldn't quite place it. But your right, It doesn't sound right so nevermind.

Anyhow, Tapulous's new thing is releasing popular artist versions in hopes of making moar monies. He simply calls them: {Artist/Group Name} Revenge instead of "Tap Tap Revenge: {Artist/Group Name} Edition"

Either way, it's good they didn't do it. Like Chewi said, fans will flip shit and I'm sure Tapulous and his retarded pact with Disney would go after them. Who would win in that?
I stole DDR X2 CS from the internet; it's my fault the music game genre is dying.

If I remember correctly, before Tap Tap Revenge was released on the Apple App Store, it was named Tap Tap Revolution by the creators. They of course changed it then but I could be wrong. ( I didn't care about iOS back then)

Anyways I'm gonna play it on my phone here in a minute. Hopefully it doesn't suck too much.

My Thoughts on DDR S (Android):

I don't like it. I'm sure on other devices it's not a problem but on my Droid X by Motorola it isn't full screen (4.3 inch screen). The colors seem very low quality and it looks like I'm watching a video recording of another game. However, the menu scrolling is WAY better than the iOS version and it isn't so buggy but the dancing characters don't dance smoothly and the videos also suffer some framerate issues in the background. I didn't really bother with testing the timing but it seemed OK, I'm not exactly a pro so don't test me on that.

I'm sure on other smaller screen phones it'll be fine but for now I'll stick to the iOS version for DDR S/S+/Freedom since that is a little more polished.

I'm sure Konami isn't bothered by how bad the graphics looks... They used to release DDR on Tamagachis (and beatmania and pop'n music).

If anything it's almost a direct port of the iOS version for the time being, plus it's only version 1.0. Didn't the iOS version get some updates for a while?

"Give me a steady beat."
A bunch of technical updates to fix response and timing I think... or are they just calling it version 1.0 for Android?

What do you mean? It is version 1.0 on Android.

Right, but there's no way to know if that means the code from the latest iOS version ported or the original iOS version ported. The original DDR S didn't climb in version number very much before S+ took over. They basically released a beta, patched it until fans liked it then put out the money maker version. Same probably applies here.

I won't play it again until they fix the ridiculous slowness and stuttering ingame. Clearly it's iOS code not optimised to run on Android.

I don't think it will be fixed. However, if anyone's interested the Android version can be hacked to play AC files.

Performance ultimately depends on the phone itself, don't expect this to run well on a phone that didn't cost much. Tongue

On a HTC Desire HD, the performance is quite good, very little stuttering here.

True Alan - I'm kinda surprised it runs fine on yours, considering someone on Sows said the game runs crap on their Evo 4G.

I do wish they'd fix the Character Select screen and songwheel though.

What's wrong with the Character Select and Song Wheel?

Actually you have a very valid point, you have to tap in a specific locations and on smaller screens its hard to do properly.

Could be something to do with how it runs on my phone, but on the Character Select screen it's very hard to actually "select" a character - most of the time it hits Left/Right when I tap the character graphic.

And, on the songwheel I have difficulty selecting songs due to the kinetic scrolling. I imagine on the Desire HD and other large-screen phones it's less of an issue.

Have you tried literally tapping it very quickly? That's my way getting around the annoying scroll issues.

It's a shame because I was really hoping the Android port of this game would be good from the start, when you consider that Beats runs fine on a ZTE Blade (albeit at around 30fps)

Alan: I can't say I have, but I've worked round that by using the up/down buttons to the left.

@sharibetsu, Freedom = polished Dead

I find the game play better on DDR Freedom better than DDR S for Android simply because the interface works better. There are times when Freedom will skip frames when scrolling the arrows but not as bad on my Droid. It could be the simple fact that there are so many different Android devices and they all have different hardware compared to iOS devices being relatively the same.

I never wanted to say that the step charts are better XD I've also noticed that stuttering problem while the notes were scrolling but I've had no trouble with the menu.

Works perfectly on a G2, incase anyone was wondering. Kinda early sync, but no frame stuttering at all.
