User Ratings

Meaning the banned users cannot cause any damage to the user ratings whatsoever?

The majority of banned users are at less than -75. At -75, your ratings do absolutely nothing.

People with negative ratings will have a bar below the navigation bar linking them to the first post of this thread for advice on how to improve their rating. It should help new users a bit.

Now what if a person was to become active on the site again after 90 days without any activity? Do the rating they have given before come back automatically or do they have to rate them again manually?

So, what if I'm a positive contributor, contributing several entire simfile packs, and I follow all of the below "common sense" items but my rating goes negative because I'm not shy to post my personal opinion along with constructive criticism (not personal attacks)? Is it my fault that someone can't take a constructive comment aimed at helping them improve, or explaining my opinion in honesty, how can I be sensitive enough to not "upset other members" when some members are super-EMO?

1. Spell correctly. Please check your posts before submitting.
2. Use grammar correctly. Use full punctuation at all times.
3. Add useful information to threads.
4. Do not post in old threads unless absolutely necessary.
5. Do not post one word posts.
6. Do not post useless posts and threads.
7. Do not insult or upset other members.
8. Be considerate towards other members.
9. Structure your posts so that it is easy for other people to read and understand.
10. Do not post posts that totally have nothing to do with the thread in question.

Do I still have full access to the site? Personally I don't care if my rating is -5000 as long as I can still upload/download simfiles and post in the forums once in awhile, I am one of the biggest contributors of official simfiles on this site.

The only thing that changes as your rating gets lower is the impact your ratings have on other people. However, once you hit -100, you lose all posting privileges, but you still have free reign otherwise. Which means that yes, you can still download and upload files even after you are banned.

I don't believe there is any restriction at all on the site unless you get banned, and the only restriction then I believe is posting and commenting. You'll only be banned if there is good reason and you reach -100 (or you're ban evading). I don't think you're under any significant risk of losing access to anything on the site.

I have most of the people I've had major disagreements with rated at +5. Reading passionate and strong arguments about Bemani games is a whole lot more interesting to me, than reading spam threads and forum games, even if those arguments are aimed at me ^^;

I can see why people will instantly -5 to anyone they have a disagreement with, but I think the way the system is setup is that the most respected members have the most "clout" when it comes to ratings, and can bump your rating up far more effectively than any ammount of resentful bickering can lower it?

Also, even if you DID hit -100, Al wouldn't ban you. You're pretty important to z-i-v.
