I was mistaken. 1st-5th and Max-Extreme are separate filters.

Is it just me or does the new announcer kinda sound similar to the DDR 1st-5thMIX announcer Thomas Howard. And I noticed the cheering is delayed. I remember the cheering being delayed in the first few patches of DDR A 2016. Like you wouldn’t hear the announcer make a line a cheering following through right after.

I haven't been able to tell based on the thread and stream videos, is sorting songs by DDR version GONE???
Yes and no. There's no more proper folders, just one singular "all music" list, and you use a separate menu to select which mix's music you want to appear in that single "all music" list. It's really unintuitive.
The filter "folders" are 1st-5th, MAX-Extreme, SN1/SN2, X/X2/X3, 2013/2014, Ace, A20/PLUS, A3, and World.

I was thinking the same for the announcer. I like it honestly, it’s less intrusive than someone trying to do a cool hype man thing. I find it way easier to tune out.

That's slightly better but seeing that they combined so many other mixes is even worse. It was extremely quick to find a song in a specific mix before this since it was the default sorting menu. It didn't need fixing.

Oh lmao 💀. Yeah I've been using eAmusement since 2014. But the combining of mixes is a big change.

It is. I don't mind 1st-5th since those were small folders (especially first), and MAX rolling in with MAX2 would have been fine as well for the same reason, but I would have left everything after that alone.I actually agree with you 100%. There were almost no songs from 1st-5th and Max/Max 2 because of the lack of Dancemania licenses. Everything beyond that should be separate.

Also why doesn't Konami let us choose our announcer? They clearly still have the audio files for previous mixes' announcers, and the rights to use them, seeing as they were used in the DDR SELECTION things in A20-A3.
I'd much rather be using the MAX announcer than this new guy that almost sounds like an AI generated voice.

It is a refreshing game after all if you catch my drift. The UI of Ace has gotten stale over the years. I can finally play and song and focus on it because my eyes aren’t on the dancers or full screen bgvideos. It was kinda like watching a movie with subtitles you can’t focus on both the subs and the picture at the same time. So I am glad DDR is finally prioritizing the charts over the visuals. So just like Pepsi is a refreshing beverage DDR WORLD is a refreshing game. The world globe in the world logo is kinda like a subliminal message for Pepsi because they’re marketing is to have a brand new refreshing game.

I couldn't feel more differently. The background visuals gave each song a unique character and atmosphere, that's why I sorely miss the Max-Extreme video clips. They make "My Summer Love" feel summery, "321Stars" feel goofy, and "Max 300" feel intimidating.

I’ve been wondering, could the removal of dancers/stages and full screen videos be due to size constraints? I don’t know what the hard drive size is in a Bemani PC, but considering X cabs got World and the cost to size ratio of hard drives back in 2009 maybe with all the songs and videos being added they were close to maxing out X cabs? Smaller resolution videos and no stages would cut the file size down a fair amount.
Konami has also known that a large chunk of the player base felt the backgrounds were getting in the way since MAX (and the videos go back even further than that, to the first game). That was the first game where the devs tossed around the idea of the screen filter but the part of the team making the background videos got upset with that because of the work they put in on them. Even before that, the PS1 games introduced background brightness options and you could turn them off entirely along with the dancers. By Extreme, with so many songs and limited space, sure each song’s video gave it a certain “feel” but the videos were mostly generic outside of a handful of songs. By SuperNOVA we had the stages, and the arrows blended right in on the best note skin and are still transparent today because of course they are this is Konami. The screen filter in X helped a lot, but it’s still slightly transparent and you can see in some players videos on YouTube they take matters into their own hands on that one. A large chunk of the player base want to see nothing behind the notes, so Konami just can’t please everyone when it comes to backgrounds. Even on StepMania, look at how many people have no kind of videos or backgrounds installed at all. Some people love them, some people hate them, some people are indifferent.
Something I think we all can agree on, Konami didn’t please anyone with World on this one because even some of the indifferent crowd aren’t fans of putting pictures on the note field which negates any attempt Konami made to make backgrounds less distracting.

I wonder if the decision is a consequence of Konami changing the default arrow color away from Vivid. It's hard to lose a Vivid arrow in the background because the arrow is always changing colors, while an arrow that stays red or blue the whole time will blend in on a red or blue stage.

Rainbow was the default on Ace, and the screen filter is on the light setting by default with no way to turn it off.

I'm one of those rare players that always turned off the dancers in all the mixes prior to MAX. The MAX to Extreme era (including Extreme 2 USA) is definitely my favorite as like someone said in a couple posts back, the bgvids gave each song a unique feel to some degree. Similar to the vids done for IIDX games. From SuperNOVA onwards, I've again turned off dancers if I could.
My thing is this -- the best compromise to me was the option of the screen filter addition. For those who turn on the filter, and more options to make the step area darker (and maybe only faintly transparent) would be great, but after all these years, I fail to see, and on some level disagree with the idea that "bgvids are a distraction." Not discounting what n00b is saying players have said, but I have never heard that before in 20+ yrs, and given how pros and competitors are excelling at the game even without filters, it seems like a moot argument -- players are PFC 19s for crying out loud....
Again, DDR is also a fun spectator game, and people who aren't playing, have maybe never played but just like watching would need more to see than just the arrows they can't really follow anyway to keep them entertained. So yeah, it's hard for me to buy that argument of bgvids getting in the way or whatever, especially when the filter was implemented when they brought back stages and dancers. Making the filter a bit darker seems like it may appease some, and no they can't please everyone. But the way World looks now, to me looks both silly and lazy.
