BPM gimmicks, huh? Kinda reminds me of Pump It Up, am I that right?

If 20s were to exist, most of the songs that have them would have even less sensible BPM changes than those in Pump It Up songs, I'm willing to bet. I personally don't see DDR coming up with streams of 3+ arrows at once to amp up the difficulty, so that is probably the case. I made a ton of joke 20+ charts by now, and I'm really not sure how excessive uses of BPM changes and stops can be avoided at this point. Really fast jumpstreams? 400 BPM 8th spins? Hitting 7+ arrows with one foot at high speeds while the other holds a Freeze Arrow? Yeah, all of these are possibilities except very few of us would even want to attempt anything with those...

I did try a few attempts at making sensible 20s and... my options are really limited. There really isn't a way to make one that is actually appealing, at least to my knowledge. Or do I just suck at making them, I dunno.

If there was an event that led to potential 20s any time soon, a lot of people might feel the hype to see the charts, and just be terrified after their revelation and ask themselves why they wanted to see them at all. That is my guess.

20's would probably look like shit from the Sexuality Violation ITG packs but without the whole pretense of the charts being intentionally stupid and mostly awful.

In other words, not anything I would actually want to see.

A 20 would have to combine all the worst aspects of the 19s and still manage to make it harder. No thanks.

If Konami actually had some stepartists that were competent in extremely high level charts, a good 20 could be done. (case in point there are good ITG 17s)

They, however, don't, and need to get on that.

I think a decent 20 (if it could exist) would have a similar rhythm though not necessarily similar step placement to the highest level PIU charts, like Vacuum Cleaner or 1950. They have creative varied rhythms at fast speed and arent just an endless run of 16ths.

If I was tasked with making a 20 I wouldn't fuck about with awkward double steps and things like that. I'd have it really fast, and make it really damn hard. Set the BPM to 500 and stand WELL back. Get Camelia to do something eargasmic.

How would you guys feel if the first 20 wasn't a DDR exclusive song? The four 19s are all songs exclusive to DDR, so how would you feel if the new hardest song in the game were to be a crossover song/license?

for one, if it was a song exempt from the dumb "CHARTS CAN'T BE LONGER THAN 2:30" rule, if it was more based on real technique and speed rather than legitimately broken patterns (more egoism than valkyrie, cheers), etc.

there are ways to make charts beyond a 19 and make them good but you've got to play the "cool mature one who makes fun of all the dumb kids" instead of actually thinking about things

also, and i can't stress this out enough, *the Difficult level will always be there to comfort you*
