I say they just rename Challenge as ANOTHER. That way anything they do it's considered well another chart. Much like what ANOTHER really meant in the old days of IIDX and not just "oh hai guys! looky we put 3573 note presses in one and a half minutes of muzik! Aren't you happy to wanna play this???" So when they have ANOTHER in DDR it can be anything they want. Maybe the Expert/Heavy chart with Shock arrows, for it to be a completely redone chart for say deltaMAX Challenge or something so it can have a real meaning. I mean Sexy Planet (Momo Mix) isn't really that much of a challenge chart any more. They don't even have to rename it. It could just be Challenge then Another (then 黒Another for the really crappy stuff)
This.
I mean, with the IIDX theme being played up so much, it'd make sense to just say "SAKURA, KAKUMEI, etc., you're doin it rite" and give us [another] charts that could be a totally different take on the track, yet might cause overlap with the Heavy or Standard charts in terms of difficulty (as in the case of, say, TRIP MACHINE PhoeniX, where the Oni charts are comparable with the Heavy charts). Pump already does this a little - why can't DDR.

The location test Heavy chart was misrated to begin with. Even with fixed step placement, that should have been a 14.

Guess I was right to wanna know more about it! Can't wait to see if they finally made it a real hard song! Also they heard our cries for Second Heaven! And it was re-reated a 14 in the second round of loc-tests IIRC, so it's really the steps we loved and longed for! I wonder if they'll do it with Dazzlin' Daarlin' too?

The location test steps for DD were terrible, I'll pass.

Well they were terrible I agree, but there were some parts that would've been salvageable for the official one. I'd take out the gallops and replace the steps, and they'd be just fine by me!

Technically, there are 3 new MAXes in X2: If You Were Here, If You Were Here remix, and deltaMAX.

I think the difficulty gap between the
and
is a little too big, honestly. The
chart is something you'd expect out of a
chart though, and I think all that could go between those two charts is a chart like No. 13's
chart.

According to the current song list, .59 is a 6/5/7/17
singles and 10/15/17 on doubles. Is this some kind of error, because I can't see .59 getting a new 17 chart.
The ratings on DDR X are: Singles: 3/5/8/11, Doubles: 5/8/10.
In response to the difficulty discussion earlier, I think Konami should definitely make more
charts. Only 17's and up should be boss songs. 15's and 16's should be in the
charts of regular songs. Konami should not be afraid of using 16th runs, 24th notes, and other ITG chart elements in non boss songs.

Thank God for a Second Heaven challenge chart! For a moment there, I thought the step writers hated Ryu.

15's and 16's should be in the
charts of regular songs.

i'm not sure if you mean every non boss song should have a 15 or 16 oni chart or that it shouldnt be uncommon, because not all songs are capable of producing such charts. but i definitely support the direction you want the game to go.

I like the idea of reaching a certain level, and then having songs that require you to step up, either by learning the song, or learning new skills which are kind of unique to the song.
Pierce The Sky is great for this, because it makes you do streams in a way that hasn't been used in years, and is mostly unique to doubles songs.
Pluto Relinquish is great, because it requires you to learn a skill that's unique to very few songs (doing a simple stream really fucking fast), and requires you to learn the song in order to deal with the speed changes.
The one thing I love most about boss songs, is songs where you have to execute the first half perfectly, in order to save enough bar or battery life to claw your way through the hectic last 2 bars. Pluto Relinquish, Healing D Vision and Gunrock from Pump are all fun as hell, and I was happy to fail them over and over again, because the challenge was so addicting. I think passing Gunrock on a machine was probably the greatest "high" I've had from dancing games in the past year. It felt a lot more rewarding than Canon-D, simply because it was so much fun to work towards passing a song, instead of it just being a case of "You can either read this and move this fast, or you can't".

Healing-D-Vision on Expert is one of my favorite charts, timing issues or not. =)
