Lol, didn't you just put in the Max code on your SN2 machine? It unlocks the 0.25x mod.

BEMANIwiki says everything above x2 can be selected in x0.5 increments, so we have these speed mods:
x0.25, x0.5, x1, x1.5, x2, x2.5, x3, x3.5, x4, x4.5, x5, x5.5, x6, x6.5, x7, x7.5, x8
Yes!!!!!!!!x0.25, x0.5, x1, x1.5, x2, x2.5, x3, x3.5, x4, x4.5, x5, x5.5, x6, x6.5, x7, x7.5, x8
Now I don't have to play 140 BPM songs on x2!
Those slow speeds don't help my poor accuracy.
Statements like this make me proud to be an x1 master.

I'm working on becoming a x0.5 master myself. I'm working my way down.

Your not playing DDR the right way unless it's straining to read and all fun is sucked out of it.
I use 2x cause its just more fun that way. Unless I'm playing bag, where its 1x all the way.

I really suck at reading below 2x, and fail pretty quick when I accidentally don't set my options.
And for songs with a lot of 16ths, I'll use 3x, or even 4x if it's slow enough.
I changed the theme on SM4 so I could add some amount of Tiny too, for playing 140 bpm stuff with 4x 40% Tiny. Makes reading easier than 3x.

2.5x will be heaven for anything between 120-150 BPM (which is a surprisingly huge amount of songs) for me.

those speed mods are sweet, but i get the impression from reading this thread i'm the only one here that likes playing in the 600-650 range and DOESNT have to strain to read it.
speaking of speed mods, is there any word on if the oni mode in X is the pussified home version style where you can use mods, or the real oni mode we are used to seeing in arcades that half the newblets cant play?

I can't imagine why they would change Oni mode.
When I said straining to read it, I was poking fun at the those who will ONLY play at 1x. Though the only time I ever make it go as high as 600 is when I use 1.5x for FAXX and Pluto Relinquish.

Even I'm not that close. I prefer close to 400.Post #3073 · Posted at 2009-01-09 10:51:40am 16.9 years ago

I use speed mods occasionally, but only if I really feel like I'll do any better with it (if I'm not having a good run.)

Ahaha! Rare people, I always play against people who cannot for the life of them play on 1x. I laugh and say "What's wrong" while they strain their eyes, trying to read the steps. 1x has it's advantages.
Edit: The three most fun things I do involve...
1. Trip Machine on .25x
2. Pluto 1x flat
3. Bag 1x flat.
Bag on .25x is just a nightmare. But at least I can have fun with that on DDRX at the final stage with it.

i dont know why they would change it either, but home versions have allowed mods in oni since EX2/strike/dsmax releases, i'm hoping they leave oni alone in arcades.
anyway, everyone is different when it comes to speeds, and my max speed depends greatly on arrow density. i'll x3 HVAM, but X2 healing vision, because of arrow density, even though HVAM is faster.

This is how it is for me. If something running 100 bpm is just 8ths, with only a couple simple clusters of 16ths, I'll just use 2x. But if the 16ths are long and complex, I'll use 4x.I also read slower on doubles than singles.

Heh, it is actually a good thing to not go so fast especially if you have cross sides alot.

i tend to play doubles significantly slower, but its because i like to play it no bar... it just makes the crossovers more fun. for example, i'll 1.5 genom screams when i'm just playing, but the time i FCed it it was x3 bar. no way i could x3 no bar a 150 BPM song on doubles. other examples of playing on 1.5 when i would normaly x3 or higher that song are synchronized love and rhythm and police.

Healing Vision
Healing Vision - Angelic Mix
Both 196 BPM
Thing to notice, almost all of 2MB's remixes go at the same speed of their original songs, they just have a stronger and more frequent bass beat.
