So, it's the end of day one of Speech & Debate NatQuals. I managed not only to survive my first day without getting eliminated, but I got amazing comments from my judges in all my rounds. I've already qualified for the final round, up tomorrow- hopefully, I can keep this groove going!

I'm going to Arcade Expo today in Banning, California. They have hundreds of pinball machines, from EMs to brand new ones. They also have a whole bunch of retro video games. I'll be down there for the whole day pretty much.

What a weird dream. I dreamt that they released a Reflec Beat/DDR hybrid in arcades (basically DDR with a touch screen) with an interface that looked like an SM5 theme. Some of the original songs on it included a samba song by Phantogram(???). I was gonna play it but I woke up before I could select a song :<

So I just got back from my college spring break and boy did I have an exciting time! I traveled to Hollywood and got to enjoy the dream city that I wished to move to someday, walked Hollywood Blvd and logged in some kilometers on Pokémon Go, and also got to do DDR A that evening there. Next day I went to Universal and had a blast there! I got the chance to meet Megatron and plenty of other characters there (Optimus marks 90 characters/mascots met!). On Monday I started my travel to San Diego and for a pit stop, got to revisit Round 1 in Santa Ana for the first time since 2015, finally had DDR but with slight network issues, and had dinner in Seaport Village. Last two days were Beach, old school DDR (with a PFC on JUSTIFY MY LOVE AFTER ALMOST 9 TRIES THANK GOD!!), playing 5-key beatmania, more DDR A, and World Baseball Classic action. And now I've rested up and planning my week ahead. All in all it was fantastic and I would love to do it again, but as you know college is back up in running soon. ;)

So I'm finally back from NatQuals for Speech & Debate. I only had one round on Saturday (My final round), and while I didn't place well enough to actually qualify for Nationals, I'm still going to be one of the alternates if everything goes correctly. Ultimately, I'm honestly pretty satisfied with my performance- I had ups for all of my rounds, meaning that I was performing very well and had little-to-no risk of getting eliminated mid-tournament, and the only reason that I failed to place higher in my final round is because one of my judges ranked me 7th while the others ranked me 1st or close. (This happens all the time. At the tournament at Grants Pass, I got ranked 5th, 1st, and 1st, in that order. While my speech is generally enjoyed by my competitors/audience, it's pretty love-it-or-hate-it from my audience) I have ideas on how to improve my speech now, so I'm anticipating a better performance at Districts, and if all goes well, the State tournament.

Anyway, it's time for my tournament hangover. I'm not getting out of bed today.
