DDR 2018 Wishlist

And who the hell DID you call out that "can't clear hard songs"? (For the record, I'm not good. I've bullshitted my way through VD twice and the other pre-A 19s once, and by ITG standards I am a joke. I just absolutely hate this logic of "You're not good enough to want this!" as if recognizing good and bad charts requires the ability to pass them)

There are four people in the world whose opinions on DDR 19s matter a whole lot more than anyone else's. Conveniently all four of them will, possible but unlikely outcomes of semifinals aside, compete in KAC finals in two weeks. Someone (possibly even me) could ask Fungah on Discord to ask the other three what they think of charting quality of the 19s. That should establish some ground for this dispute, which leads completely nowhere at this point.

I mean if you think KAC is the end-all-be-all of world skill determination, sure.


I'm 99.999% sure they hate all of them besides maybe EGOISM.

Just saying. I'm doing this not out of malice but because it'd be funny.

2. The comparison still stands regardless of your personal sexuality (and I could've easily used an example like African-American rights, or "but Obummer did it first!!" or basically any political point of contention), the point is that kind of argument ("I'm not the *insert here* YOU'RE the *insert here*") is terrible.

My argument is, again, that "well you can't pass this!" is a shit argument (even if we ignore the fact that you don't have to be able to pass a chart to recognize if it's shit or not), ESPECIALLY when you presume it.

I miss when ZIv was friendly. We even had a specific chat dedicated to it.

All I fucking asked for was a 20 stepped by people outside of BEMANI and some people decided to get all up like "zomg but can you PASS a 19 why would you want a 20?". I asked in the most benign way possible, too.


This is literally what my first post was, that people decided to get up in arms about.

"You can't pass this" is a reasonable argument when used how most people who were saying it were using it; i.e people who can't pass easier stuff shouldn't request harder stuff since they literally cannot play it and is therefore pointless to them.

I swear that the community is more focused on watching top-tier people play rather than actually playing.

I don't care how any of the KAC participants personally feel about 19s, it wouldn't change the quality of the charts. Fungah could say that EGOISM is a beautiful 19, but it doesn't change the fact that it's not very good.

I've said this before and it bears repeating, because none of you seem to get this somehow and it blows my mind: all the 19s are very flawed with bad patterning and inappropriately implemented gimmicks, and having one 19 in EGOISM 440 that stands out as better than the rest does not mean it is good, that just means it is the best of the worst, which still means it's still shit. I have no idea why this doesn't sink in when you view the charts or play them, it's right in front of your face, you don't need a KAC participant to spell it out for you, i'm telling you right now. You don't even need to be able to pass these things to get this, a comprehension of chart structure and patterning could easily help you understand what works and what doesn't. There are numerous examples of good, comprehendable, and well structured 19s in the community that blow everything Konami has made out of the water, one look at those and you very easily understand why theirs are not good.
