In that case, how does this rule affect Black Light Machine? About 20-30 seconds of the original submitted cut were chopped off.

To be honest... I'm wondering about that too. Before cutting the song I checked the contest rules that are available at first page for anything on this issue and I didn't see anything about re-cutting song. I just assumed that it is allowed without any problem. As I was low on time (I did veto on Thursday and was away on weekend) I fixed the issue (unusable part for stepping) on my own without requesting the full version of song.

The statement by vincentw made me confused. Why are we changing / adding new rules during the contest?

Yeah, when I was asking to re-cut my song, I meant that I was going to edit the cut song that was submitted. Which is what Lisek did, right? It seems like Lisek cut the song for the same reason I wanted to, and I was denied. So shouldn't Liesk's file be disqualified then?

I looked at the OP and there's nothing that explicitly states "Don't re-cut songs that you get" or anything. It just says under Song Submission Rules:


So personally I think Black Light Machine should at least be allowed for this round since the rule wasn't that clear.

Uhh, sorry for the unclear rules, guys. To be honest, when chewi asked that question, I asked Silverhawke, since I personally don't know what to do. He said "no, what's given is what you get" so I assumed that this rule applies on previous contests as well…
Has this happened before, like in previous contests?

I only now downloaded Rock the Club.

And all I can say is that file being disqualified was an utter bullshit move. Come on, I could see if it wasn't present even after 30 minutes have passed, but this file is amazing! >.<;

Hm, that's odd. I got the music video from YouTube without hassle. When I upload episode one of my showcase of the entire contest, your file will have the mentioned music video. I can even send you the .avi file if you are interested.



All of the songs (except for LIKE A VIRGIN under chewi's wishes) will have videos of sorts going on in the background (my personal copies) because I just...like having videos in the background, with the only exception being if the background videos contain distracting fanservice (for instance, Last Message's IIDX video).

Even though I'm limited to 170 videos at the moment, I'm liking how some of the scripts are turning out. Especially Chance It and Tamagotchi. (I think I'm going a bit too far with groovin'... ^^;)

I can see that you're pissed. I bet a lot of you are. Heck, I'm pissed as well. Why can't I allow this file?
But... it's late. A week was available. I could be petty and disqualify every late entry, but I don't do that because there may be some issues near the deadline, and for them to suffer because of this is painful. However, I also need to impose some limits so people won't slack too much. I figured that 10 minutes should be enough. Apparently it stopped a really good file from receiving points.

I'm truly sorry, everyone. Especially to rikame. And chewi too for the re-cut issue.

Can I be honest? I don't really think much about the rules until someone brings it up. I thought that last year's rule set is pretty solid, and it ran smoothly for the most part, so I only need to change a few (mostly trivial so people don't complain much) things. I didn't even think about late files and re-cuts, so I was confused when it was brought up to the table. When I have to settle things, I fall apart. So many things to consider, yet bad things slip every so often. The evidences speak for themselves. Already so many are disappointed.

That's the main reason why I ask people about rule changes. Voting points. Lisek's suggestions (which, btw, came out entirely from Scarz's head). Re-cuts. Even last year about late files.

If you remember, I at one point DQ'ed DDRDAIKENKAI's Piano, Forte, Scandal simply because it's late. How late? Three minutes late. It felt so wrong (especially after you pointed it out, Cuzco), so I have to ask Silverhawke. He said "do whatever you think is best", so I allowed it. At the time, I didn't impose a late window, so I just allowed everyone. (Well, except for that one file that's three days late.)

So I'll ask around again.
How late should I allow the files?
(Don't just type 30 minutes so that it allows rikame's file, give me a reason. Please consider that there are people who want to vote, and can't do so as long as the window is still open. Also, please don't type "whatever you think is right" because see above.)
I can't guarantee that this won't happen again, but at least it won't happen as often.
