My scores on SM are lower too... Cause the arrows are so DDR like and way harder to read.

"the arrows are so DDR like and way harder to read." That's fair enough, if it stops you getting good scores then I don't blame you. Am I the only one who prefers StepMania's noteskin? (I use Note with 10% brightness) Don't get me wrong I love using Cell but the judgement flashes are too bright in OITG compared to SM's judgement flashes.

I have 4.0 because 3.95 was making my computer freeze. Neither of them provide x2.5 which is what I usually play on. How do you add .5 mods?
IDK, i find it impatient, but whatever. I agree with Lucie, the arrows are harder to read and I can't set any themes or arrowskins on either version of stepmania because the Mac won't process them.

Well, before i use itgpc 4 years ago, i used stepmania 3.9 with an old CyberiaStyle theme (2.6?) but with itg arrows.
Don't forget that itg is a stepmania build, but modified a lot. You can change scoring type and add speedmods in both stepmania and itg then.

3.95 is horrible, seriously. The only good thing about it is online play, which is basically a moot point nowadays since Osdaki released a modified version of OITG Beta 2 that comes with online play.4.0 is nice, however it is also very different from 3.9. My first pass on ICWOWICF was 72.29 (you can imagine how explosive my reaction was when I passed it XD). To get a score below that is an insult to myself. The lowest passing score I've gotten on anything is 5x.xx when I first passed Robotix Expert. First 11 too.

SM-SSC hasMoonlight, the successor to dubaiOne. You'll need to update your SM-SSC though.When i used SM 4.0, I took the default noteskin into gimp, dropped the brightness by 20% and upped the contrast by 80% (or something like that) to make it look good. I don't have that modified noteskin anymore.
Adding .5 speedmods isn't that hard. Search the metric.ini for "Speed,1" (I think). You should see a section that looks like this:

The line that says "Speed="12;"" tells the game how many speed modifiers there are. It must match the number of entries in the list to work.
The part of each entry that says "mod,1x" is the modifier(s) to apply. The part after "name" is the name.
Each entry must have a number 1 more than the previous one. If you add "Speed,8="mod,3.5x;name,x3.5"" after Speed,7 you have to change the next line to start with Speed,9 and the next to start with Speed,10 and so on.
After you've added the speed mods you want to this section, you have to open up Languages/en.ini. Search for the name of one of the mods you didn't add, and add entries for the mods you added to this list. There are ~3 different places in this file you need to do this. Just find the spots where there's an entry for a default speed mod and entries for your speed mods in the same place.
If you mess up this step, the mods will be selectable, and work, but they won't have any text name on one or more of the screens in the game.
As for the scoring and timing windows, you need to open up your stepmania.ini and adjust the timing windows an judgement values in there to match the ITG values.
SM-SSC bypasses that mess by having a data file it reads for custom speed mods, but I wasn't able to easily find any indication that someone has built SM-SSC for OSX.
As for Decent Attack, I only started trying to do it a couple weeks ago. I only try it on things that I could normally get 98% or higher on. I try to imagine the beat I'm stepping to in my head when I do it. I'm not sure whether that's really effective though.

OMG, Kyzentun, Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!!!!! I got the 2.5 speed mod on the game! I'll try playing when I get back from vacation next week and see if just that will make a difference in play. Then I'll mess with the arrows. Thanks again!

I used the C200 mod on Operation Evolution until I realized that the Cmods were considered handicaps, so I passed it on x2 back in January. When I get home, I'll try it x2.5 and see if that makes a difference because x3 was too fast(unless I'm at the dedicab).

Lucie: Nice, apart from I don't go further than 8x with .25 mods. Also O_o at you having C930, I don't even read that fast on KB (I read up to 840 Distant on KB). Here's what I use (code tags ftw ).
Margo: On OITG, you can use M mods instead of X mods. So instead of using 1.21x for OE (which is 1.2121 recurring -_-) you can have M200, which calculates the appropriate x mod. For further clarification (since I'm terrible at explanations) here's another example:
- A 150BPM song with M300 would create x2 to make the arrows scroll at 300BPM

Margo: On OITG, you can use M mods instead of X mods. So instead of using 1.21x for OE (which is 1.2121 recurring -_-) you can have M200, which calculates the appropriate x mod. For further clarification (since I'm terrible at explanations) here's another example:
- A 150BPM song with M300 would create x2 to make the arrows scroll at 300BPM

Got my first Tri-star!!!

I wonder if I`ll ever get a tristar!
Dancing Ninja: I don`t really use C mods, and I never read faster than 650bpm (on overhead) ...I just have them.
I thought about making me a x12 mod cause of that one 10 (I really like it) but then I decided it is okay to use c 600 on one song...it doesn`t have any speedchanges so it`s ok.
