U-san is the director of the AC series, U1 is a composer. They are different people.

How did you know U-san is U1? They are different people. U-san is the guy who appeared with TAG in the APPEND TRAVEL video.
2many4me.Anyways, Not sure why everyone getting so frantic over this whole "last AC mix to be release but will be updated through constant e-amuse updates" thing. I think they have the power to release full games through the mix if given the time and all that jazz.
Or they may not, this could be the last DDR mix ever, EVERYONE PANIC.

Technically yes, since subsequent updates are released thru eAMUSE.

If this update thing is the case, then would that pretty much kill any chance of this coming to the US? There's no way e-amuse is coming to the US. The only way I could see it is online patch wi-fi/3G updates or something like that.

I believe he left Konami to pursue his musical career. Don't quote me on this though.

I think NAOKI left KONAMI after the last KAC, the closing ceremony. He still counted as BEMANI Artist. Maybe he will turn to commissioned artist.
About DDR with patches. I know this will coming, because Internet is sooooooooooooooo exploitable, srsly.

I think NAOKI just left DDR specifically, finding more success in Dance Evolution/Masters.
Well, that, and a franchise/playstyle we can't just simfile the crap out of.

"Give me a steady beat." |
So if this is going to be a single machine, that does not get replaced or upgraded but rather just software updates...
- This could become a massive Greatest Hits machine, or at least end up having a lot more music than any other arcade machine has.
- It seems like DDR is testing things for the rest of Bemani. All the current releases may have the capacity to install new music but they might not be setup to do this specifically. It will be interesting to see if this is what they have in mind for GITADORA as well.
- Wouldn't this make hacking the machine much easier? They way it's set up now is that if the encryption is ever broken they just change it with the new game release. New hardware, new software, the hackers have to start over. What happens if the encryption is cracked on machines intended to stay in place for a long time? It would take more than a simple software update to resecure things.
Give some of the more creative members of the community a Kinect and a Raspberry Pi and they'll cook something up.

Pretty much this. Since the capacity to update the game via online would exist, someone will figure out the encoding and encryption, spoof Konami's servers and bam, we have a DDR machine we can push any amount of songs to, forever. Before Konami said X3 wouldn't come to the states, they were looking at cheaper possibilities to use e-Amuse for arcades. Could they possibly be trying this new method to also benefit out-of-Asia arcades? Think about it: an arcade buys a new cabinet that's in excellent condition: they get cheap updates for the rest of their ownership of the machine through an internet connection. It's a steal for some places and would help Konami to cater the song lists to each region so that it goes with the culture's taste. I can see a new Gaga of Bieber song coming out and a few weeks later Konami licenses the track and sends an update to the machines. Add it to the attraction screen and bam, new business!

All the version since SuperNOVA sans X did this.

It was really easy if you just want to rip the song and song data. Heck, the bg videos and the step data are there in plain sight.
The actual challenge is to re-encrypt data back in, but is it possible to do that? If it was possible, we should have seen this earlier.
Moreover in a single song there's a lot of stuff to be specified (like which stage, use bgvid or not, choreograph, video on stage etc).
KONAMI can even decide to do a huge update (like once in a year or less) that changes the security and/or encryption method.
So it might sound easy on paper, but definitely not on practice. (IIRC X never got cracked)

According to u-san, a new interface and new boss songs will be added about once every 6 months.

With this being "the last mix", I think now Konami can take some time and get it right for a US and UK version. If they can get the online updates working somehow and have a cabinet that can last long then I'll take being behind on a few updates. At least that way we know what's coming and we can get excited for the next patch of songs.
