Worst stepcharts, in your opinion

god nobody is disappointed more than me that this song that's probably in my top 5 favourite DDR songs ever got such an ass chart. THE SONG IS SO GOOD HOW COULD THEY DO THIS

my charts are the worst of the worst

As far as newer charts go, I personally despise ACE FOR ACES D-. Random stretches with no reason or rhyme, 400 BPM 8th bursts that don't match the music, missing arrows in the slowdown to throw players off, a couple of flow errors, intentionally offbeat notes, the song being disgustingly offsync on this difficulty... yes. I know people that do like this thing, but I say screw this chart, this is the worst Ace creation in my book.

ACE FOR ACES is what happens when a company who used to make NES games forgot they're making a late 2010's rhythm game. These charts were only designed to make you get a great when this was Perfect Full Combo only and they never considered actually making them fun to clear in regular play. It's basically what would happen if you took someone from Konami's arcade division thirty years ago, told them nothing, and let them make a chart.

Eh, I just do. I think it's nice and challenging. It's certainly better than most of the charts from Club Version.

I like the beginning of the chart, how it forces you to do doublesteps that end up becoming crossover bursts. Unfortunately the middle of the chart and the ending is not good at all -- but I don't think it's the worst.

ACE OF ACES unfortunately is just bad, which is a shame, because the song is really nice, but the charts are not fun.

There is some hot garbage out there like CURUS EDP, Take a Step Forward ESP & EDP (where the DIFFICULT charts have 16ths that actually go to the rhythm and the EXPERT charts don't...for whatever reason), and Diamond Night CSP which does not make any sense.

Another plain bad chart is GORGEOUS 2012 ESP. Way too plain, very lazy patterning, and the chart does not even pick up the REALLY obvious 16ths after the chorus.

One last chart: It's maybe not the "worst", but GENOM SCREAMS BDP (which is a 9!) on your first glance looks like your typical 1999 doubles chart which by itself is not good, but there is a really awkward error in the chart right at the 8th triplets. When I played this for the first time, I thought I was seeing things.

Take A Step Forward D- is a chart I disliked at first but is now one of my guilty pleasures. The first half is a little wonky, but in the second half, if you have the movements down, the stretches are both interesting and oddly satisfying. S-, I still don't care for all that much.

Also, this flies under the radar a lot, but, GRADIUSIC CYBER ~AMD G5 MIX~ D- is still among the strangest things I've witnessed to this day.

That is not a theme, but rather ArrowVortex, a software that lets you edit your files without turning on StepMania. It also has many other good features, it's quite neat.

16th doublesteps on a chart? What is this madness?! I never actually seen anything like that because I don't do doubles.

Just to clarify on the terminology, double hits (or more) on the same arrow are referred to as jackhammers, or jacks for short. You call something a doublestep if you are required to hit two different consecutive arrows using the same foot. That said, the 16th transition is actually more egregious than the 16th jackhammer here.

The ULTRAMIX and Universe series actually have more decent charts than bad ones, although I only know a handful of those charts from looking at them on StepMania.
